Silversun Pickups – Three Seed Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Well. I never thought of anything you guys said. I know what it means to me, though. My two friends and I took this amazing trip to the UP Michigan and on the way back we were involved in a head-on collision with an SUV; both cars travelling 70mph. It was in my '89 IROC-Z and the safety standards weren't exactly up-to-date. No airbags or ABS. My buddy was driving because I was tired, and I was in the back sleeping; no seatbelt. Anyways, I woke up right before the collision and saw it happen. I blacked out for a bit, and woke up telling myself not to open my eyes because I knew I would be haunted by what I would've seen. I told myself this because I heard nothing from the driver's seat, and I heard my other friend gurgling on what I assumed was blood, struggling to breathe. I couldn't move; I had two broken lumbars, a shattered my pelvis, and a shattered elbow. To top it off, a man and woman ran up to the car and started talking. The woman said, "Oh my god, there's so much blood." The man then said, "Yeah, I don't think this one is going to make it." To make a long story short, I connect with this song on many levels. The bullet removed from my head was my over-confidence. I was living recklessly; thought I was invincible. Pictures on the floor, I think of all the good times with my two friends. The next verse, there was alcohol at the scene of the accident, the guy that hit us was drinking. The next verses remind me about how amazing that trip was. These typed words cannot describe how epic it was; until the accident, that is. Funny thing is, and maybe this is why I feel there's that connection, we were listening to this song when it happened. |
Manchester Orchestra – I Can Barely Breathe Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i think the dark flood represents black people. |
Manchester Orchestra – I Can Barely Breathe Lyrics | 15 years ago |
ok, alright, no one get all crazy with this suggestion. when i first heard this song, i wondered if it was about black people being pushed out of the city into suburban areas. they do hail from the suburbs of atlanta, ga anyways. just keep this idea in mind and go over the lyrics again. |
Manchester Orchestra – Sleeper 1972 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
well, not that it matters but he wrote this because of a dream he had, not a vision. few of mc's songs were inspired by dreams. those were the words from his mouth. |
Chevelle – Bend The Bracket Lyrics | 19 years ago |
No, I don't think it's about Bush or the government. I think it's about what's rushing through his head when on stage. Like Redline03GT said, Chevelle wouldn't waste time on issues like that, they'd rather go for the deep things. Not war, but who fights the war(s). Soldiers aren't the only ones who fight. |
Chevelle – Emotional Drought Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I really like Redline03GT's comment. I've said that a couple songs could possibly be about Bush, though probably about something deeper, in fear that I would get bitched at. lol. Anyways great song. |
Chevelle – Tug-O-War Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The lyrics are wrong, it's Feed the cut, and get in line To live and burn, is tug o war (raped) Go back and forth, until it’s learned To suffer now, or nothing's gained Then wake within A freezing sweat Push and pull Collecting doubt Starting seeds Lost inspiration Panic on the rise A severed attempt ignored (raped) The reason never outweighs truth So backing up, and lean against The liars club cometh shame Wasting farther, collecting doubt Starting seeds Lost inspiration Panic on the rise A severed attempt ignored So hand it off Don't care enough Cause ignorance Is in blissful reach Lost inspiration Panic on the rise A severed attempt ignored Lost inspiration Never played the game A severed attempt ignored Feed, The last head trip I can see the connections with Iraq. |
Chevelle – Another Know It All Lyrics | 19 years ago |
whiteout, I like to think all songs like this are about GWB. When I first read the lyrics I even said to myself, "it's gotta be about Bush." But the line, "don't get along if they're brothers" honestly reminded me of the band oasis lol. I am not sure what it's about, could be about Bush, but it's sad to say that I think it's about something much deeper. Remember that these are brothers. |
Chevelle – Panic Prone Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is a great song. I think it's sang in third person. Everytime I hear the song I can picture a slightly derelict man wasting his money and time on whatever fits, possibly gambling. I got the gambling from the unceremonious hint, "He'll loan the cash." Now the guy being described knows he's in a bad situation; "Hauntingly looks like hell." That describes how he sees his stark raving sick sad little world. But that's just how I view the song. Kudos |
Chevelle – Breach Birth Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Amazing song. Took my breath away. It is about being "molded" by society and parents forcing one to go to church; not letting said one make their own decisions. Propoganda and such from the news and commercials (television in general) make people a part of the stereotypical hives. |
Chevelle – Still Running Lyrics | 19 years ago |
hm...ITS ABOUT BUSH!...actually i dont know...not enough information to make any good conclusions. But the bush thing will have to do. |
Chevelle – Vitamin R (Leading Us Along) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Well now that I've been informed, I can see that the song IS about ritalin lol. I was going to post it might be about Mr. Bush. Ponder that one won't you? Anyways like I said I was going to post something else until I saw everyone elses posts. Funny. Or maybe...it's about Bush on ritalin (deep thought). Cough...just kidding. Kudos |
Chevelle – Get Some Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this song is about someone stopping him from achieving his goals. His goal is to "keep the sun off his shoulders" therefore, keep moving west. To not let time catch up with you. The black-out part has meanings connected with the sun. Sun=light, black-out=dark; get it? So the black-out part represents the antagonist. And the sun, or light, represents his goal. kudos Edited by random_monkey on February 23 2006, at 03:01PM |
Chevelle – The Clincher Lyrics | 19 years ago |
and bears |
Chevelle – The Clincher Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I can almost picture this song being about Jesus, with the whole bashing of his knees leading to suffocation, and the nailing, obviously. But anyways, I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THAT!... I am an avid listener of q101. I didn't hear what they said, but everything else I've heard on there seemed to be correct. So :P. go cubs |
Chevelle – To Return Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"He cleans his sword Cause you cant miss this" I don't think it's "He cleans his sword..." I believe it's "He clears his throat." Good song... I think it's about a man/child, or a child becoming a man; who was once used. What I mean by that is that the man didn't live his own life. When he got the chance ("free at last", "he didn't know", "so learn to speak"), he was unable to, he'd already missed the critical period of learning how to interact. But that's just my take. Leave a comment if you have any questions about my justification. Kudos |
Chevelle – The Red Lyrics | 19 years ago |
damn pumaman...i just saw your comment...dont diss the incubus...but anyways...that sucks. |
Chevelle – An Evening with El Diablo Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah...go chosen people!...cough...i hate jesus freaks...choose agnosticism!...mhm. or be jewish...(lol) |
Chevelle – The Red Lyrics | 19 years ago |
alrighty, I just bought chevelles new cd (this type of thinking [could do us in]), tis awesome. franchise0002000, you and your comment creep the hell out of me. Almost as much as those fucking jesus freaks. anywho...good band, great music. make sure and listen to incubus my fickle friends. kkkudosss |
Incubus – Sick Sad Little World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
To answer Samper about Dirk... The first three lines are slightly obvious. But the chorus is a little tricky to try and connect. It might not be about Dirk; I've thought about it being about god. But anyways, maybe Brandon is just interpreting how he thought Dirk felt. Through the chorus anyways. Okay I've embarassed myself enough, the end. lol. |
Incubus – Drive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song describes everyone being driven by fear. The line about the hive, is asking if he will make his own decisions and choices, or let fear take the wheel. After I got ACLOTM I connected this with Agoraphobia. |
Incubus – Circles Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I really enjoyed what ikey said about this song. Maybe it is about the band and friends sittin' in a circle tokin' it up. Probably about some dude who whines because he wants another hit. So Brandon tells him, hey bro, "everything goes in circles punk-ass." But anyways, I didn't think about that until I read ikey's comment. |
Incubus – Warning Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Damn right Panophobia, Under My Umbrella is probably the best track on Morning View. Although I am one of the Down the River-ers. :P Rock on and Kudos Incubus |
Incubus – Blood on the Ground Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is a really obvious song to interpret. He'd rather bite his tongue than have a fight. "High fives to better judgement." I love that line. "Low twos to you my fickle friend." Talking about who he's fighting about right there. Kudos to Incubus |
Incubus – 11am Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I agree with everyone who wrote at the top; I was too lazy to read the rest. I didn't see anything about the line, "The credits traverse, signifying the end", him buying her shit maybe? Someone help me |
Incubus – Made For TV Movie Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Hello, This song is definately about war and the government. "I'm trying to focus, but my eyes decieve me. Focus .I'm witnessing history repeating" He's trying to focus on what's going on in America right now, it's so bad that it's like his vision is blurred. Supposedly the "Land of the Free" more like the land full of oil-guzzling pigs. That's why I want outta this place. The history repeating part, it's kind of obvious, war. |
Incubus – Smokin The Herb Again Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Nah, just kidding. Like mostly everyone said, it's about "Smokin' the Herb Again." |
Incubus – Smokin The Herb Again Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is about Brandon finding the girl he's going to marry, love, cherish, and hold dearly for the rest of his life. |
Audiovent – The Energy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Well...it's been years since I've even heard from Audiovent. I wonder what they're up to. Probably didn't even want to try after A Crow Left of the Murder. bwa...But...Incubus and Audiovent- Great bands. |
Incubus – Agoraphobia Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Hm...everyone either says its about sex...or it's completely about agoraphobia. I have another take. Possibly about a girl. Think about it...just read the first lines...then read please end this, before it ends us. Ahem...maybe a bad break up forced him into agoraphobia. |
Incubus – Sick Sad Little World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Okay, this is my favorite song off ACLOTM. It is amazing. When I first heard him say "Leave me here in my stark raving sick sad little world", I immediately thought of some hobo out on the street saying that. I also thought of "Under my Umbrella" from Morning View. The line "I'm an accomplished exile." But I really don't know what the song is about, probably about Dirk, I'm just trying to expand some peoples minds. ps- the solo...phew...awesome |
Incubus – Are You In? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I agree with jjligman. This song is just about rockin' out. Probably doesn't really have a meaning, they're just having a good time. And that my fickle friends, is not a negative thing. |
Incubus – Have You Ever Lyrics | 19 years ago |
a prophet did once say honesty is a lonely word... not the shite up there... to be more accurate the prophet said...."honesty is such a lonely word" |
Incubus – Southern Girl Lyrics | 19 years ago |
O man...another sex song by incubus. just look incubus up in the dictionary and it says it all. This song lyrically to me was very similar to here in my room. Both beautifully about sex. The "we'll try eachother on to see if we fit..." cmon now...theyre not just talking about hands. True incubus style...i love it |
Incubus – Aqueous Transmission Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Weird...reminded me of 'The Odyssey'. Makes sense. |
Incubus – Under My Umbrella Lyrics | 19 years ago |
then again i believe most of incubus' songs are how YOU interpret them |
Incubus – Under My Umbrella Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Hm...I like everyones comments. But anyways my take on this... This song has got to be about evasion and revolution. When he closes his eyes he can see for miles...he can see the future. Hes comfortable knowing that...while the confusion goes on outside. (I think about the government on this part) These eyes are not your eyes...i have my own god damned opionion. I think the i was not around part is when he realized what was going on...and that its crazy... ahem...like the US government in dire need of reform When he closes his eyes...he can see for miles...which makes him smile because hes comfortable...and wanna know why hes comfortable?...because he knows the future...he knows what the bad people (whoever they may be [bush is who i personally think of]) are. Hes an accomplished exile, on his own, fighting and evading. |
