this is going to sound weird but it fits..this is the song of a deliverers lament..a deliverer goes ahed of who there leading as a guide. the person in this song is going up a building as if were a ladder or mountain trail. as if leading from earth to heaven. the deliverer has to speak with God as the people he is leading is in the wilderness and thus wait for the outcome. at this point, "its out of my hands for now". thhings are mentioned as the pig and the day on fire. this is a complex song. the building represents the ladder. it parallels a biblical story. moses guides the people to the base of the mountain. Ive been associating matthews ideas with those of the non canonized biblical writing and the early apostilic fathers..remember matthews is a BIG reader..well this song fits well with the struggle between covering biblical thought between the early roman catholic church and the eastern alexandrian apostilic writers. the roman catholic church eventually silenced the alexandrian teachings. the catholic church became the voice of ONLY ecumenical opinion not to be challenged until the recent re-emergence of the teachings of the alexandrian school of thought we find today in abundance. since the 70's we seen the discovery of the dead sea scrolls and nag hammadi scrolls and the interpretation of the early biblical writings. matthews seems to really get a lot of ideas from these spiritual writings. (pre-nicene, non romanized opinions of course) (by the way the alexandrian school of thought was no hell and full grace. they rcc was eternal hell and partial grace.) the last stop could be the RCC stating that this life is it and they have the answers to everyones problem the black and white problem is doctrine related that the RCC has hid from the rest of the world.remember the dark ages....it aint the last stop. |

two things are seen opposing each other.. dreaming and thinking. Dave guides our thoughts towards the flesh as thinking and the spirit as dreaming. stop thinking you can do anything and begin to live by receiving revelation from God of who you are...ie dreaming. we cant do anything of ourselves. its all Gods will that we move and breath and have our being. we learn what we are to hope for by dreaming. we receive instead of plan to become. the flash of light is the revelation from God.. Dave is always dwelling on the process of salvation. the most important question all men ask themselves is what will become of me "after death"?. salvation is a process that delivers us through death unto another kind of existence with God. " falling" always implies climbing something. since man was created spirit he then "fell down" the mountain of God into this unclean physical world. the idea also is described by climbing and falling off the "ladder of jacob". another idea of climbing up and down between heaven and earth. Dave expresses himself as climbing forward and falling backwards within this process of salvation...of course the question of what will become of him..well he knows..he returns back to his spirit beginning when he was first created perfect. when death didnt exist. its called the law of circularity. to know the end of a thing. you must first know its beginning. in this case ts the same. the ending is the begnning. an absolute state of perfection. this song ties into "dont burn the pig".. this is a complex question imagining what if there is no death? then there would be no burning of the pig. to burn the pig. it must first die. we could say that all impure or unholy men outside the OT jewish religion are considered "pigs". (then and now) in daves mind..when everyone is eventually saved..when they enter through the "Big Door" then the "pigs" do not die, nor are they burned. they are loved by God..didnt God call pigs "good"? |

when anyones physical world ends.. they become non existant physically. so to follow a thread about the existence of someone in a vacuum of nothingness...we must change our thoughts from a physical "world" to the spiritual "world". mountains are expressed here as symbols of power. powers such as envy and bitterness and strife and malice and hatred. dave is describing himself as rescuing another from their inability to oversome these powers that are against them. their spiritual "world" that this "baby" or "lover" exists within that contains these powers that must be overcome is changing with the interjection of grace, and mercy, and love that dave is applying. dave describes it as floating across these "mountains" as they together watch them fade away to nothing. rendering these "mountains" powerless. this can only be a spiritual "world" with spiritual mountains being described. certainly not a physical world. dave cant physically exist without a physical world. thats silly.... |

another hint to the crash is all the spinning... around, around, up, around, around the flaming chariot that picked up elijah was in a whirlwind. whirlwind denotes "confusion" via mass of information expressed at once. its like your in a "storm" of knowledge. this is about a "crash" of sorts and the process of salvation. the screaming wheel is heard from the chariots of God that is riding on Gods mountain. the female attribute of the spirit goes up the mountain first. the chariots pick up the spirit and brings it to the house of God on top of the mountain. the spirit then returns to rescue the male attribute of the spirit. again another crash occurs as the male attribute of the spirit hits as it crashes into the chariot. the statement "take it slowly". is a suggestion.salvation is God alone..its none of our effort. its response should be ok ill take it easy in the song, daves response is "you just wait and see what Im going to do for you God. the crash occurs and we learn we cant do anything for God. its none of our effort. "wait and see" is the statement said by the religious majority still waiting on the chariots of God to crash into them as they go up the mountain of God. this is basic bible lessons..remember swing low sweet chariot..or elijah going up the mountain in a flaming chariot. to know the ending of a thing we must learn the beginning. dave states "take me back" just before I was spinning. referencing to the "what the heck happened to me?" forgive me?...ok. all dave songs are symbolic. "crash" is the same story. we crash into each other. exchanging error for truth. today were crashing into jesus christ. dave sings mostly about himself crashing into you and me. that will happen tomorrow when dave becomes the rider in the flaming chariot. |

I think this is daves festival of tabernacles before the lord. he must live in a temporary hut outside. looking up he can see the stars and the sky. another point is that he preys that the holy spirit delivers "harvest rain" for the great harvest. the festival also is derived from the hebrew "hag" which means "to dance" before the lord. this festival is one in which all christians await upon the lords return. they act as if a traveler passing thru. . the idea of "we almost made a living" is one inwhich shines the light upon the idea of helplessness while here and total dependence upon the lord for day to day sustenance. the idea brings us back to living in temporary huts. in this state is another point brought out. he asks "who am I"..this state of being placed in this solitary hut only allows that God can communicate to him giving him identity. this is the reason he is asking for enlightenment. who else do you think he's asking? anyway...fate is determined. we cant be anything other than what God designed for us before the creation of the world... thats his enlightenment. he couldnt be anyone other than dave. and to live daves fate. he's now happy and fully content knowing God is sovereign in his design whats the use of worrying |

heres some more reflections.. chances are opportunities. the box is the prayer closet inside you (or the ark) lights down...happens at the beginning of a play or show. lights go dim. curtain opens, spotlight comes on you up and die. (this is not physical death. its a spiritual or soulish change of choice) loving one another begins with the example of one dying for another. one changing their mind or action...the other person follows by your example . dying means "changing mindset" or "changing choice".. here we see the choices made of the man and woman.. and the choice of the woman acting towards the boy/man and his reaction. take these chances place them in a box until a quieter time lights down, you up and die. |

the loving man and loving god thing are seen in the first and second verse. the man and woman loving each other and the man under the table dreaming. both instances dave is reminding us not to forget doing. the table represents the dreaming tree. the symbolic vision we see as the total sum counsciousness of the image of all man mankind. the image of man is the symbolic "tree of life" and the "tree of knowledge". (the brain represents the tree limbs with its leaves. and the trees trunk is represented by the spinal chord.) when a man is under the table and dreaming he is plugged into the counsciousness of God and receiving answers such as who he is, and what will become of him.. thats the "loving God" part. daves just reminding us not to forget these two things. love man and love God. |

no one can write about God unless God allows us to see.. this is daves gift, yet he writes in code. using bible symbol as well as daves own use of everyday words.. the two drinks are about the fall of adam. he's in heaven joined to his girl...the two were one. (spirits) God seperates "wisdom" from adam. He then places adam in eden and gives adam another woman..one seperated from him spiritually and physically ...eve. wisdom is the holy spirit. also called "grace". grace is gone. adam fell from heaven to eden. the first "drink". adam bit the apple. the second "drink". he fell off Gods mountain outside eden. outside the burning sword. by the way the burning sword is daves favorite icon.. the burning sword is the seperating firmament between God and man. to get back to God. man must go through the burning sword back to eden. hence the fire dancer think of it this way..religion dont sell... Jazz does. daytime dave thinks and writes about God and man with good clarity in what he's allowed to see. nightime dave is the rock and roller. "grace" is really not gone in daves life. with grace's help, dave can write his songs. remember two things.. God loves you and God is in control, dont worry. dave is not going to write about lifes problems. he writes to honor his God. someday you'll see this and Go "Wow, this is so cool". the same story of the fall is about "jacobs ladder". adams in heaven. first drink knocks him down 7 rungs. second drink knocks him down 5 rungs and off the ladder. (in spiritual death) like I said you see it. or not. if you find out what the dream of our fathers really is..theres two versions that is causing the house to burn.. this si a religious "dream" of religious questions. when we go, where we go, when were dead. do we get in line, to line up with those long dead the two dreams are will God save all and everyone gets in the same line, or does God save only a few going to heaven, with the remaining sent to another line....hell. this time is confusing but necessary and confusing without an immediate answer. were all in the same burning house until the dream continues. the dream is one being in this world where we find hate and love in the same burning house with hate overwelming and choking everyone.. but we must live by faith that the dream continues and changes where the love conqueres in the end. conclusion is theres two dreams. one of the fathers fighting and the other the fathers loving. so it depends on your viewpoint which dream your perceiving. dave says its the love he possesses must be "the dream" of our fathers. the drunken man is the man in the pulpit. |
