The Smashing Pumpkins – The Everlasting Gaze Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Omg im reading yout interpretations and i can't help to think that this song is absolutely not about god, his fans, the music industry and sh*t Here it goes, my own interpretation, and I believe it to be bether than any of those above: The song is about love. As usual. Particularly about the desire to love. The thing that is given voice in this song is the desire to open one's self soul to another and give in to another love adventure, yet this feeling is repressed, and it's telling that it'll never die, until cruel death hits it's owner now you know where i've been as you sleep, torn i am wear you down patiently born of love it lurks, patiently, it is born out of love forgotten touch forbidden thought we can never have enough this thing tells that it cannot be hold back for long forever waiting on the ways of your desire you always find your way and thru it all, into us all you move this basic desire to give in to love and open one'self soul to another is inherent to every human being, and billy basicaly tells that he tried to deny this feeling, based perhaps on a bad previous experience, but in the end, it will never die the everlasting gaze ultimately means being in love, surrendering to love and it's ilusions, and the song tells that we all want that, to be enchanted in the rapture of his sentimental sway, but he the author is in fact repressing his feelings |
The Smashing Pumpkins – With Every Light Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I belive this song in fact it's about finaly, after a long period of time, losing his fear to fall in love again. Taking over, we're taking over Throw the weight up off your shoulders now That we can show our love It's almost over, it's almost over No more war and no more soldiers To stand against his love He tells that his internal conflict it's over, maybe it's time to show his love again Away with all the troubles that you've made Away with waiting for another day Away No more excuses, no more postponing, you're falling in love again, and it's now. The rest of the song is realy about being happy that he doesn't have to be bitter and shut himself off to everyone anymore, and it's liberating. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Heavy Metal Machine Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I heard this songs so many times when i was young, but now it strikes me the meaning and beauty of this song. It's actualy simple, when you look at it. The heavy metal machine is a box in wich his heart(his emotions) are encased, and it's a machine in the sence that it's artificial, and the author gives inteligence to it, so it can speak and express itself. if i were alive if i were real would you survive what would you feel if this machine would exist, would it be possible to live? let me die for rock and roll let me die to save so soul let me die, let me die rock and roll let the world forgive the past let all the girls kiss the boys at last let me go, let me go rock and roll if the author truly could shut out his emotions and let this machine live, could he be able to write good music? let the machine die for the music, so that his soul wont become bitter if i were dead would my records sell could you even tell is it just as well I believe he insults his fans in these verses, he again thinks about the possibility to make music without emotion, if this machine around his heart were dead, would his records sell more? Or maybe not, maybe no one would notice the difference, and it would be as well will i survive is it up to me could you understand that it's not yours to keep maybe he's trying to say in these verses that he's considering about building this machine, this heart and emotion encasing box, but in the end it's not realy up to him, because his heart is no longer his, it belongs to someone else, but this part isin't quite clear to me hope i've shed some light, i realy love this one |

i believe this song is about how hard it is to make decisions based only in ones'self, not being influenced by sex or drugs etc, well, at least for him it is hard, so he tells not to be like him, hehe |
Billy Corgan – Now (and Then) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
when i read the line "I’ll watch you making love with them" it al made sence to me it's about him and this girl, and he loves her, but she doesn't feel the same way, so he resigns to be her friend, and she tells him about everything, including the men she sleeps with, and he loves her so much that he does not care, he just wants to be next to her, even thou hes life is all f*cked up already |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Real Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |
beautiful song, i particularly identify myself with this one and a lot of others from billy corgan fall into the century on a supersonic cross blessed she in aching silence, eternal loss i guess the turn of the century means a new era, means changes, hes loosing her, thats why eternal loss calling out i won't surrender a locket of her hair sympathize her pious pleasures, go down the stairs he wants something to remember her, he wont surrender a locket of her hair cuz it is all he has to remind her, the second line is about how he attended to her every wishes and now he wont anymore into the dark again to feel alive again, and wait for real love or is it me you're after is it time cause it's now or never real love real love forever real love hes living her and he must find real love, and giving her a last chance, is it me your after, cuz its now or never etc... in the eyes, behold and you'll find the 21st century detonate her will and her widowed speech this is again about changing and how he will not take her bullsh*t anymore buried in the backyard shadow, the rusty coffee tin that held her mother's first kiss in a nameless dream fall down the stairs again to feel alive against tomorrow this is one part of the song i cant really understand, can someone help me? in the end he tells again e needs to leave her and feel alive again real love or is it me you're after is it time cause it's now or never real love real love forever is it love or just yours to treasure real love real love real love then again he asks her if she realy loves him and wants to stay with him we never listen real love will listen and tell of a fortune real love is riches scratch through the changes real love is nameless so tired and hopeless real love is painless nobody mentions we ever move to collect the solar questions demon scorn should not relax the laws of gravity real love here he tells what he thinks that real love should be and maybe why he doenst think he and she have real love in the end this song is about a man leaving a woman and giving her a last chance to prove her "real" love, or is it something unreal what they have |
