Midnight Oil – The Dead Heart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
when i first heard this song, i thought it was about native americans. i'm a us citizen, and midnight oils' australian accents didn't really come across in the music. kind of sad that the same fate captured both aboriginies and american indians... |
Regurgitator – Just Another Beautiful Story Lyrics | 17 years ago |
one minor correction: the line is actually "live till i die and then *rot* away". i completely agree with this song. if there's any kind of meaning here, it's beyond us. |
The Outlaws – Green Grass and High Tides Lyrics | 17 years ago |
some lyric corrections: "before the burst of *tangerines* takes you there" and "castles of stone *southern* glory". |
Concrete Blonde – Tomorrow, Wendy (Andy Prieboy cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the lyrics in the last verse are actually: Only God says "jump" So I set the time |
Muse – Exo-Politics Lyrics | 18 years ago |
'zetas' are zeta reticulans, commonly known as 'greys'--the little aliens with big heads and black eyes that are popular nowadays. |
Modest Mouse – Bankrupt on Selling Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i think that line is actually "the style of strap that clings best to the arab". the apostles were middle-eastern. it's about how no one really cares about other people. the apostles, the angels, the businessmen, the college grad self-impressed with his own verbosity. all those people were just actors pretending to like you for some trinkets or money or ego. words don't capture how the song feels though. |
Midnight Oil – Sleep Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this is my favorite oils song, but i'm not sure what it's about. all i know is the "missionbeat" was (is?) an assistance thing for the homeless in sydney (so they walked the missionbeat beat). maybe it's a series of vignettes like an old blues song, tied together by a theme. |
Modest Mouse – Ocean Breathes Salty Lyrics | 19 years ago |
the part about jail is probably about the week isaac brock had to spend in jail while crossing the canada-us border. |
Midnight Oil – Blossom And Blood Lyrics | 19 years ago |
the first stanza paraphrases attaturk's words on the monument at anzac cove in gallipoli, turkey. but the main focus is on the bombing of hiroshima. the species deceases ep was recorded in 1985, 40 years after the bomb. the force of the atomic bomb was so great that people's shadows were burned into the ground, "these sidewalk silhouettes not washed away." every time a country detonates an atomic bomb, the current mayor of hiroshima sends them a letter.... it's the price of peace to remember. |
