I can see how it could be about drug addiction, which is cool. But looking at the `storyline` in the CD case I think it could be interpreted a few different ways. In the CD Arise is a letter written to the Commander`s Army. He`s telling his soldiers or `Sons and Daughters` not to lose heart and that they are going to win the battle, even though it looks helpless. He tells them that if he dies go on! That a seed cannot grow into something until it first dies. He closes with Your time on earth is brief, Arise and Be All that You Dream. He tells them to Encourage each other and tell each other to ARise and be all that you can be. So, I believe that this song is not about dying and going to heaven, I believe that in a sense it is about how our `Commander` isn`t physically on earth and he indeed died and lived to give us life, and it is a song from his perspective saying don`t lose heart, keep going, Keep fighting for what you know is right and arise and be all that you dream. I also think that perhaps the reference to swine might be the `Dread Army` that is often mentioned quite a bit. Loved the CD if you don`t own it, buy it because you miss out on so much of the CD without the letters in the CD case where the Lyrics would normally buy. This is a definate WOW CD. :) |

scottsvillesol, perhaps it could be a christianity thing? Something like we have brothers and sisters in Christ and God as our heavenly Father, but really I don't think there is ever a mother in the mix there. And thanks for pointing that out, I never thought about it until you mentioned it! |

I can see the two ideas working together hand in hand. I say this because she mentions song of songs which outlines the explicit love relationship between man and wife, or God and His bride. The passion and beauty of it all. It shows how he searches out His lover and she searches Him out. It's a beautiful book and I can definately see how the relationship started with God when one becomes saved connects with the love relationship when one becomes engaged. :) I love this song so much! |

I definately believe it's about a girl in a bunch of relationships, perhaps she has horrible self-esteem issues or something but it almost seems like she brings it on herself because of "loose lips wide hips". Sort of reminds me of prostitution. But another interesting thing is both the "religious" people and the scoundrels are the same. Sort of like the pharasies because religion doesn't mean anything without A relationship with God. So there are people who pretend to be christians or whatever and then theres just plain dirty people and all of them are using her just to get into her bed. She doesn't want to live like this anymore but whats she to do? She's become apathetic to her situation(Passionless, she doesn't care) so she doesn't care what happens to her body or something. Perhaps I'm way off track but thats just what I got. Amazing song though, caught my ear right away |

I totally agree with what you've both said i just have one thing to ad, in the bible it says that we are a Holy Temple, we are God's, when we give up our body to sex and other demeaning practices God is no longer the kind of the temple, Sex become "The Queen of the temple" and 'she' calls the shots and drives our ambitions. Another interpretation of sex is a liar, is most people think that the more sex the more gratification but it degrades more than uplifts outside the bonds of a healthy marriage even if they get passed that sex while married tends to become boring and sex just becomes a lie, a thrill to find whenever. |

I agree that it's a song about abuse....it sounds like sexual abuse, perhaps even a girlfriend and boyfriend, then near the end, the "i'm not afraid of the bed I lay in" is her saying, "I'm not afraid to sleep, because I know that i'm not going to be abused" ...I dunno... good song though |

I think it means that believers have this joy that radiates within and though we look no different than others when we smile theres something different about us. Theres a twinkle in our eye and just this joy that radiates and draws people to us. It changes a person and they are no longer the same. He smiles at her and she smiles back and they both realize that they are christians. |

This song is amazing... it reminds me of my grandfather...I had prayed for his healing... so often for six years...and one day I prayed that either he be healed or taken away to heaven....and a few months later he was gone...and I was mad at God because that wasnt the answer I wanted....and then I realized it was for the best....I stopped being angry... though it was only for a short while..a day or so....ever since then I've been patient with my prayers....waiting and watching.... |

Why would she think God would leave her? I think the beginning of the song is like talking about how God created us and how we are always so rude and get mad at him.... and how we should wake up and realize that he created us and how far away from being like God we are. The song points out that God gave us life (The comment on breath?) and then how we fill our lives with gossip and other junk.... and then we are a trace of what God used to be... because God has a totally different meaning now then it used to... Though i could be wrong, anyone else wanna add to? |

i agree with Kel-El this song has something to do with being depressed or suicidal thoughts and such... and then in the second verse it seems the person is thinking back remembering something he had been told from a friend, or read from a book or bible or something... i really dont understand this song.... but at the end it seems as though they are hinting that the person is numb and doesnt know what to feel or think? |

The song is about someone falling and giving into temptation and sin and such... whatever you wanna call it lol.... and then the chorus i feel is kinda like the plea for a second chance.. mercy... like you said lol... and then i dont understand the last verse... it could be someones words constantly bringing the person down....but it seems as though this person keeps falling... cause at the end 'my fall draws near.' its like they know they are growing weak... but yea good song XP |

i think it has something to do with falling away from Christ...."I feel the death of our connection and the fading of light" and at the end the "i can feel you here, you can draw me near." is like that soul coming back to christ. And in the first and second verses it seems as though this person is having doubts and fears and is realizing that what he/she left was really better.... though i could be wrong... anyone else wanna comment? >_> OH yea! and its an excellent song! i like this song... i havent actually heard it except maybe once, but i like the lyrics. They seem to be talking about God meaning to make people meet and that when they meet love is right.... and its supposed to be, not somethign thats going to end in a divorce or hating each other....and when love is right the path is bright- i think that part seems to say that when Love is right.... everything seems okay and life is easier to handle... but thats just my opinion ^o^ |

All those stupid sterotypes give christians bad names... and people are still giving life to those sterotypes. Screaming christians who shove everything down peoples throats and then judgmental ones... were supposed to be the body of Christ.. so why arent we showing the love that Jesus showed?
