I love this song. It is one of my favs on the new cd. This song is about trying to move on after a horrible relationship. The memories are ruining his life even though the problem is already solved. I almost feel like he is trying to move on with someone else and cannot because of the memories of this previous relationship. He even goes as far as to ask the new person in his life for help, in the end succeding in forgetting and moving on with life. (Although the ending of the song seems like he is still just hiding the fact that the problem remains.) Surrender to the shadows, haunting, inside, bleed through you. |

I think that this is the more angry between the last two song in this cd, although it is somewhat softer sounding. While Pulling the String is heavier, it is more poetically written and more heartfelt. This song, however, is kind of an in your face, "Your nothing without me!" I agree on the fact that this song references Martin Luther King Jr.'s infamous speech, however, this song also reflects Chad personal views on "cleansing the world of all life to start over". I think that Chad feels more like the present world is a hopeless dissaster. The exerpt that bush h8er used is a good example, but the second paragraph is a complete contradiction to this statement.: "dreams of guns blazed, dreams of fire rage, dreams of swollen graves, dreams of hollow pain- ...all gone" These are bad things that are also "all gone". I feel that this song is more about the fact that people have given up on dreaming all together. Chad feels that people need this in thier life, and I concur. P.S. these lyrics need some tweeking. |

I agree that alot of Mudvayne's songs are about drug abuse, but they all still have a much deeper meaning. Everyone is addicted to something. Drugs happen to be Chad's personal Dalhia, but the songs are meant to portray that part in all of us that clings to something. I think that this song is more about those people that spend all of thier time tring to make everyone else miserable, especially in relationships. Chad also uses a lot of bad relationship lyrics: ie Severed and Skrying. She forces her way inside of him; "Peel me from the skin, Tear me from the rhind." Then she tries to destroy who he is; "Tear me from the bone, Tear me from myself." He wants to make her happy but she still f's him over anyway. Battle axe with lots of curls, right. |

Check this out, "Crowded streets are cleared away"-things always change, no matter how constant they are. "Hollow heroes, wise men wodering, strong men dying", these mean that no matter what you do, it means nothing. Kinda like "Eat right, Get a good job, fall in love-DIE ANYWAY!" I took the song as if it was someone trying to love someone that will not let them. Like, what is the point in not letting me, we are all going to die someday. He is calling her cold and saying that he will continue to try no matter what. I also think that the person that he is persuing's parents are real assholes. I think that is what he means by "when you see your family, don't you cry." He loves her and she won't let him get close. He decides to keep persuing any way. This synopsis is partially swayed by my personal situation, but that is my take on it. |
