Mando Diao – God Knows Lyrics 19 years ago
This song kicks some ass. Band name isn't stereotypical of the sound.
Not exactly sure what's going on here... something about girls.

Razorlight – Somewhere Else Lyrics 19 years ago
Does anyone have a good mp3 of this song? I can't seem to find one anywhere. I either get a looped version, or a radio rip. If anyone can get me one, just lemme know, thanks.

Anyway, great tune. I definitely should listen to Up All Night sometime, seeing as all of the singles I've heard are great.

Self-explanatory song, yet it's still really good.

Oasis – Lyla Lyrics 19 years ago
Very disappointing.

Andrew Bird – Fake Palindromes Lyrics 19 years ago
Yeah. It's a really nice song. But I don't understand it.

Kings of Leon – The Bucket Lyrics 19 years ago
That last post is really weird...

Good song though.

Broken Social Scene – Stars and Sons Lyrics 19 years ago
i saw them live last weekend... this song was a fucking clap fest... pretty fun.

Queens of the Stone Age – Little Sister Lyrics 19 years ago
So this is the new QOTSA I've been long anticipating...
Good tune, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations. You can hear a lot of Eagles Of Death Metal influence here (Yes, I realize that they're both Homme's bands).

Bonnie Somerville – winding roads Lyrics 19 years ago
this seems to be the only "garden state" song that's not getting comments.

submissions
Nick Drake – One Of These Things First Lyrics 19 years ago
Oooooh, the imfamous pentapost.... It's kind of weird that no one posted on this song until they saw Garden State. Oh well, I'm also to blame, great movie, great song.

Colin Hay – I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You Lyrics 19 years ago
I just listened to this song for the first time. Commenting on the meaning is pretty pointless. This song almost made me cry. I don't know if any other song has ever done that.

The Stills – Lola Stars and Stripes Lyrics 19 years ago
but yeah, lz2108 is correct, it's not THAT direct a statement.

The Stills – Lola Stars and Stripes Lyrics 19 years ago
The new, not nearly as popular or catchy, "American Woman"? Ah, gotta love some Canadian bashing at their biggest ally... but i like the song, good points.

Bright Eyes – Gold Mine Gutted Lyrics 19 years ago
when the smoke came out our mouths
on all those hooded sweatshirt walks

for some reason i love those lines

submissions
Bright Eyes – Time Code Lyrics 19 years ago
I don't really see this as a song. It's just a mix of things from the rest of the album. Just a weird intro like Lifted had.. not even worth contemplating,

submissions
Bright Eyes – Easy/Lucky/Free Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is deep. Conor really took a philosophical approach to this record. It came out quite good.

Does the simple line "Don't you weep..." really hit hard to anyone else?

submissions
Bright Eyes – Down in a Rabbit Hole Lyrics 19 years ago
It's "Down In A Rabbit Hole"... me thinks.

Bright Eyes – Arc of Time (Time Code) Lyrics 19 years ago
^^ agreed. Though I will go as far to say that "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning" is his best work to date. I hope he really gets recognized for it.

Good song though... I guess it's just about death/salvation etc... The lyrics in Digital Ash are more cryptic than the majority of Oberst's work.

submissions
Bright Eyes – At the Bottom of Everything Lyrics 19 years ago
I don't like the intro. But I love the song. I reckon "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning" is Mr. Oberst's best work to date.

submissions
Scissor Sisters – Take Your Mama Lyrics 19 years ago
I'm not positive that it's about a gay guy coming out to his mother. You shouldn't assume that just because the lead singer is gay all his lyrics are about being gay. The lyrics to this just simply seem like a man who's lady left him, and now the only woman in his life is his mother.

submissions
Bright Eyes – First Day of My Life Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is insanely good. I was dreading this album split, but I think that Conor just keeps growing as a songwriter. I think eventually he'll be remembered as a very significant musician of this generation.

submissions
Straylight Run – Existentialism on Prom Night Lyrics 19 years ago
I just listened to this song for the first time. I didn't think it was very good. I've never listened to the demo verison, but I don't plan to. Hopefully some of Straylight's other songs are better.
It would be too bad if none of their songs or none of TBS' songs are as good as the best tracks on Tell All Your Friends... even though that album was only sub par at best.... so much potential wasted

submissions
Franz Ferdinand – Tell Her Tonight Lyrics 19 years ago
"Gonna Have To Tell Her Tonight" sounds like revolver era beatles... but that's the only resemblance i really see.

submissions
Oasis – Whatever Lyrics 19 years ago
Very good song. I wouldn't say it's Oasis' best... too simple. But it's catchy as hell and east to sing along with. Big thumbs up for this one.

submissions
Oasis – Up in the Sky Lyrics 19 years ago
No idea. Sounds kind of egotistical... like a lot of definitely maybe. Groovy tune though.

submissions
Ryan Adams – Call Me on Your Way Back Home Lyrics 19 years ago
God damn! I'm listening to Heartbreaker for the first time as I type... and I just thought Oh My Sweet Carolina was one of the most beautiful songs I'd heard... and now this!
Ryan Adams has some insane talent. I wouldn't have picked up on that seymourglass, where'd you get that info?

submissions
Sam Roberts – No Sleep Lyrics 19 years ago
The song with the most beautiful melody on We Were Born In A Flame. Not too many people posting on Sam Roberts. I'm from Canada, and he's quite popular here... a very mainstream artist. To my understanding he's not very popular in American yet though. Well, he's definitely not ashamed of his Canadian roots in his music... I think he represents Canada very well, especially rural and small town Canada. Anyway, it's a great album and he's great in concert.

submissions
Ryan Adams – Oh My Sweet Carolina Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is insane. I'm listening to it for only my second time right now... and it's definitely my new favourite. I think a lot of people should take a listen to it. It's very straight forward, pretty much what Hunter said, but it's longing for the south, Carolina to be specific.
GIve it a listen if you happen to read this and you haven't listen. You definitely won't be disappointed.

submissions
Sweet – Ballroom Blitz Lyrics 19 years ago
Can't say I've ever contemplated the lyrics... and I'm not about to now... just such a fun song the lyrics kinda breeze by. This song just simply kicks ass.

submissions
The Vines – Factory Lyrics 19 years ago
It reminds me of Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da to some extent, but I wouldn't go as far to say that it's a rip-off. I think it's a great tune. The Vines had such promise following Highly Evolved. It's too bad WInning Days was such a mess... maybe there's still some hope for Craig and the gents.

submissions
Bryan Adams – Summer Of '69 Lyrics 19 years ago
It actually is a reference to the ol' 69er. There's a snip-it in a Rolling Stone magazine a couple of months ago with Bryan Adams admiting it and saying that he couldn't believe no one got it. But it still sounds better being the year 69 in my opinion. Adams' best song... cheese, yet still blissfully great.

submissions
Bryan Adams – She's Only Happy When She's Dancin' Lyrics 19 years ago
Well, the song is very self-explanetory. Adams isn't much for the lyrics or originaloty.... but the catchiness and fun in the songs make up for it a s'pose. I like.

submissions
Saves the Day – Morning In The Moonlight Lyrics 20 years ago
Don't get it. One of the weaker songs on the album in my opinion.

submissions
Saves the Day – In Reverie Lyrics 20 years ago
I think the band decides what "the real Saves the Day" is, not emorawkprincez. If you like the old stuff better, that's great, but the new stuff is good too.

submissions
Saves the Day – What Went Wrong Lyrics 20 years ago
Notice no one comments on the new Saves The Day songs? In Reverie is a good album, I must admit... great pop hooks, almost Beach Boys-esque. I agree with the first guy. Peace V.

311 – Lovesong (The Cure cover) Lyrics 20 years ago
Well... this song does sound pretty nice. I guess you have to like The Cure's version more -- after all, Robert Smith did write it... so that gives The Cure's a little more passion. As fas as being a good cover... i agree with whoever said that you should do a drastic change if you're gonna release a cover... but at least this will bring a great song to some more people. No complaints, great tune... I'd just recommend the original version to everyone who likes this.

Sublime – Santeria Lyrics 20 years ago
This song just takes me away like no other. Despite the lyrics. The melody to this song is unimagineably beautiful.
Songs in which the singers' voices create the best melody really stand out to me. Especially this song and Strawberry Fields Forever.

submissions
Hanson – Penny And Me Lyrics 20 years ago
This is no surprise really. I may not have listened to their music before. But think about how good that music was for how young they were. They're definitely talented guys, and it's no surprise they were gonna get into more of a rock sound as they got older. It's a good tune.

Sondre Lerche – Two Way Monologue Lyrics 20 years ago
Woohoo! First to comment on a good song. Though I have no real comment. I was just checking the lyrics. Great song though, I'd recommend it to everyone.

Snoop Dogg – Ain't No Fun (If the Homies Can't Have None) Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is about gangbanging. Kind of sodomizing, but it's just such a groovin' tune I can't help but like it. Gotta love those G-Funk beats....

The Streets – Fit But You Know It Lyrics 20 years ago
Great song to be the lead single of the forthcoming album. Quite self-explanitory, but thoroughly enjoyable.
Does anyone have the unedited version of this song on mp3?

Something gives me the feeling he'd rather be where he is than anywhere with some certain person.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Purple Haze Lyrics 20 years ago
I didn't read all of the previous posts, but i noticed that some of you seem to be mentioning the type of weed commonly known as purple haze, with most of you assuming that Hendrix named the song after the drug. But I think it's more likely that someone named the weed after the song.

Anyway, on the song, I also read in an interview somewhere that the song was about a dream in which he was walking underwater.

Cool song. Classic riff. Jimi Hendrix... enough said.

The Guess Who – American Woman Lyrics 20 years ago
Yeh, Muzzy is right about the song. Everyone here in Canada knows what it means, it's one of the biggest rock songs ever in Canada. Its anti-americanism probably has a large factor as to its lack of success in America; even though it was a big hit there too.
Bachman and Cummings probably just didn't want Canada to head down the same road as America, which is somewhat did.

Anyway, gotta love Canada... and yeah, America's now toooo bad either.
