A Perfect Circle – When The Levee Breaks Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
A perfect circle is the worst thing to happen to music (ok, so maybe not that extreme). But seriously, Imagine? When the Levee Breaks?
Who do they think they are? If you're going to remake classics, you better have your shit together, and they do not. |

The White Stripes – Ball and Biscuit Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
This song is way above the Whites Stripes, if you know what i mean. You could put this track on the same playlist as some late 60's blues jam. Needs a bass though, or anything to provide a little backdrop and fill out the sound. |

Björk – Alarm Call Lyrics
|
The fucking buddhist is, i think, what draws me to the song, its the point where i restart it so i can hear the whole thing again. I think it might be intended as irony, you rarely hear somebody speak of buddhism in such violent terms. "hey mel, can you believe fucking ghandi? I cant even take his shit anymore." See? it just doesn't quite make it. |

Electric Light Orchestra – Fire on High Lyrics

Instrumental songs are so difficult to look up that its ridiculous. I spent about a month trying to figure this out because the radio never says the name of the song afterwards.
good stuff though. |

Morcheeba – Big Calm Lyrics

I'm big on Morcheeba, get this album first. Tricky takes a lot of warming up to, I'd say you need Massive Attack before you move onto Tricky. |

Tricky – Piano Lyrics

The minimalism gives this song a gravity that i dont even know if its worth. I have no idea what the words mean, but it evokes such a serious sadness. |

Beck – Peaches & Cream Lyrics

The garbage man thing is beyond me. Beck's best song, along with nicotine and gravy. Can't figure out either of them, lots of phrases that dont really go together. |

Kenny Loggins – Footloose Lyrics

why the hell dont they play songs like this at dances? When did rap music become the pulse of the teenage generation? |

Jets to Brazil – Sweet Avenue Lyrics
|
I'm not sure if everyone is quite taking home that this is actually all about cigarettes. All the clever wordplay and touching love-songy stuff is about smokes. It doesn't exactly detract from the song, but i'd say it definatly changes the direction away from the love song. very cool stuff. |

The Who – We're Not Gonna Take It Lyrics
|
See Me Feel Me is a beautiful song. I think its a shame that it is attached to We're not gonna take it.
I don't know how it was intended, as I'm not fan of the entire ablum. But if taken alone, it makes a great love song. "listening to you i get the music" |

Frank Sinatra – Luck Be a Lady Lyrics

I feel like this song is aboug sex, but i suppose i'm really only basing that idea on "a lady doesn't wander all over the room, and blow on some other guys dice". |

Jxl – A Little Less Conversation (Jxl vs Elvis) Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
....It isn't a cover, boys and girls. nobody redid the vocals or guitar. all JXL did was unlock a lot of potential that the song had by adding a much more powerful backing. i think he did a great job, its a seamless fit and gives the song a whole new feel.
as far as the meaning is concerned, my take is sexual. close your mouth and satisfy me baby. i mean, of course you could take it in a much more g-rated fashion in that actions speak louder then words and whatnot, but why skirt the reality?
(personal battle: hendrix and jopplin are not oldies, but classic rock. and my jopplin knowlege is limited, but you ought to realize that hendrix is heavilly covered, so you ought to check it out rather then wait around for it to find you) |

Steve Winwood – The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys Lyrics

these guys are better then i'll ever be, musically and lyrically. low spark is a great example of traffic's great musicianship. the whole groove is amazing, with the catchy solos to keep it interesting. i havent been able to decipher exacty what the low spark means, but im sure theres an answer out there. |

Dusty Springfield – Son Of A Preacher Man Lyrics

This song is pretty weird for me, theres the part of me that is kinda embarrased to be listening to it because im very much non-religious, but the other side of me is hearing the mellow groove and the chicks sweet voice and its all good. |

Jamiroquai – Virtual Insanity Lyrics

i think that whoever submitted the lyrics for this may have made a slight error. the last line of the set after the first chorus.
There's something in these futures that we have to be told.
Im pretty sure that instead of "be told", that its "veto." you know? like, something in our future that we've gotta stop before it happens. the songs all about warning us so we think a bit. jay kay is trying to change the world. |

Sneaker Pimps – Walking Zero Lyrics
|
hehe, thats pretty good sambanova. "i really love them because their lyrics go way over my head". either way, i think the sneaker pimps' lyrics arent so much about the meaning behind the words. sometimes lyrics are more for mood, they put you in a certain place, spiritually ...personally... aerodynamically. |

Eiffel 65 – Blue Lyrics
|
Europop was a great album. Real good clean techno doesnt break out very often, and eiffel 65 came out with a great mix of songs so it didnt get boring. if they had played more of the album and not just blue, eiffel 65 wouldnt have been a 1 hit wonder at all, this song killed them. |
