Doughty replied that the guy should write a song for her , but in his drunken madness he began yelling that Doughty should write a song for the girl , her name is Janine he told him . He doesnt know Janine . The answering machine bit was done by his girlfriend at the time , and not the mysterious Janine . |

In my eyes the album is about the walls we build around ourselves to protect us from the outside world . In a way each of these situations helps us build our walls . You get the idea in your head that all adults are like this and at such a young age you begin building walls around yourself . I dont think it has anything to do with Syd Barret . There are a few of you that seem to think every Pink Floyd song has something to do with Syd Barret for christsake . I wish you could get it through your heads that besides the songs he wrote during the bands early years . The only songs about him appear on "Wish You Were Here" . |

I forgot to add that there is a reasoning behind the man asking to be called Roger . His name is Roger Keith Barret . Syd is a nickname and not a given name . He became mentally unstable due to heavy abuse of LSD . He actually lost the ability to speak for three years and was placed in a mental institution . |
