Napolean XIV – They're Coming To Take Me Away! Lyrics 22 years ago
I heard this last night for the first time. My dad made me listen to it telling me about how it was a big hit in the 70's. It frightened me, I will have emotional issues for the rest of my life because of this song.....And I liked it.

Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics 22 years ago
It's my opinion that "Wish You Were Here" is sort of a sarcastic remark. You know, like those people that go on vacation to Bermuda and send a postcard back saying "Wish you were here". So he's in this miserable place and "hey wanna' join us?"

Also you can take it another way. If you look at the cover of the album titled "Wish You Were Here", you see a man on fire shaking hands with a man not on fire. You could take that as a "misery loves company" sort of thing. Let me catch you on fire so you can relate to my pain.

The Beatles – I'm Down Lyrics 22 years ago
We’re all alone and there’s nobody else,
You still moan ‘Keep your hands to yourself’,

heh...I'm surprised something this blatant got past the cenrors of that day...This is a really kickin' tune, I wish Paul got that raspy rocker voice more often.

The Beatles – Dizzy Miss Lizzy Lyrics 22 years ago
Pure Rock & Roll, better than 90% of all that came after it.

The Beatles – While My Guitar Gently Weeps Lyrics 22 years ago
song4julia is right, on The White Album Eric Clapton became the first non-beatle to play on a beatle track (other than orchestra stuff) Towards the end the "fifth Beatle" Billy Preston played on a lot of their songs, but Eric was the first.

The Beatles – Yesterday Lyrics 22 years ago
Paul said he dreamed the melody and when he woke up he thought that someone else made it and put it in the back of his mind...After he realized that it wasn't anyone else's he wrote scrambled eggs as ferthuko said...Then he thankfully made it Yesterday, one of the best songs of all time.

Another interesting bit of trivia, this is sort of the first "solo record" of a Beatle, considering that Paul's the only Beatle involved in the recording.

OutKast – B.O.B. Lyrics 22 years ago
God they rap quick and damn if they rap intelligently...These are my boys plain and simple, the best rap group since NWA.

Eve 6 – Inside Out Lyrics 22 years ago
Or am I origami is one of the best rhymes in rock in years, maybe not for profound meaning but for just plain rolling off your tongue.

"put my tender heart in a blender" I would say Limp Bizkit stole this, but I don't want a bunch of dumped jocks getting on my case.

Great lyrics, metaphors, and damn if the lead singer doesn't have one of the most unique voices.

submissions
Incubus – Battlestar Scralatchtica Lyrics 22 years ago
I didn't figure I was making a profound discovery or anything...Just thought I would put it up here so people like bluesmily could comment on it.

sorry dudley, go club a baby seal or something instead of calling a person out on the internet. Peace.

By the way, I spelled the track wrong.

Stone Temple Pilots – Revolution (The Beatles cover) Lyrics 22 years ago
Good cover, and I'm very skeptical of beatle covers. I love these guys, why can't they rock like they used to?

The Get Up Kids – Holiday Lyrics 22 years ago
Being an emo band it's hard for me to think it's about anything other than a girl. Not to say it's bad, I freaking love this song.

I get a feeling of maybe his exgirlfriend went to college (she's in town for the holidays) and they do that empty shallow fake conversation that you do with people you don't know anymore. And the old days will eventually fade into the memory bank and life will go on....Except for The Get Up Kids. ;)

Weezer – No Other One Lyrics 22 years ago
I dated a girl that was really fun and energetic but she was also a little self-destructive...My friends hated her. But nobody knew her like me. Ah, aint codependancy grand?

submissions
Weezer – Crab Lyrics 22 years ago
crab="bitch and moan" Is Rivers making a song about a cocktease? Or a guy that needs to lay off?

Weezer – Undone - The Sweater Song Lyrics 22 years ago
I get a feeling of some kind of "Here I am, dig my tunes or just kick me to the curb. I'm braced for impact." But maybe that's me.

Radiohead – Electioneering Lyrics 22 years ago
my exgirlfriend thought this was an example of a "perfect song". I like it but I could never understand why she thought it was one of the greatest of all time.

To each their own.

Radiohead – How to Disappear Completely Lyrics 22 years ago
If you ever get the urge to shut all of your friends out of your life and just work a job and come home to play counter-strike all night and listen to CD's....This song is absolutely not good for that. And speaking of, get the hell out of your house.

Comfortably Numbish...I believe Radiohead is the Pink Floyd of our generation. Good song, chilling, lonely...

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Pea Lyrics 22 years ago
This song is just a great example of why I love RHCP. Growing up in Kentucky there's quite a few homophobic testosterone junkies...fuck 'em.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Catholic School Girls Rule Lyrics 22 years ago
Yes they do, yes they do...

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Deep Kick Lyrics 22 years ago
This song reminds me of my childhood friend and when we first starting go out in the world and looking around. Following railroad tracks for hours, trying to get to the river...A person can get easily bored in the ghetto.

But I imagine RHCP has been through and done more than I can even imagine. And somehow came out clean on the other side.

Coldplay – Trouble Lyrics 22 years ago
Sex always complicates things, unless it doesn't mean anything to both parties. Even then it might.

I'm a cynical bastard, no? Oh well. I dig Coldplay. Take Radiohead's "Creep" off of Pablo Honey and make Radiohead not get into lofty cerebral stuff and you got Coldplay.

Tool – Die Eier Von Satan Lyrics 22 years ago
I like Makoe's theory.

I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that it was just a recipe. Good to know Maynard has a sense of humor.

Hum – Stars Lyrics 22 years ago
Did his girlfriend go off the deep end? Has she had a nervous breakdown that he could have seen coming but he was too self-absorbed? "i bring home everything i want, nothing that she needs"

And what exactly does a crumpled piece of paper with seven nines and tens mean?

I dig this song the most though, excellent guitars.

I wish I had this song when I was in highschool.

Bush – Machinehead Lyrics 22 years ago
I get the impression that someone's in a relationship where their partner is controlling. They're supposed to be like a machine and jump through the hoops for this person. When this person says "green", they go. When this person says "red" they have to stop.

But otherr lines like "leaning on my conscious wall" are typical bush that probably is just something personal that we wouldn't get 'cause we weren't there. But that's the great thing about Bush, you still get the metaphors he makes even if you can't articulate them outright. It makes you feel a certain way.

submissions
Bush – Alien Lyrics 22 years ago
I agree with treestump..."Stare at the light on the wall" Those moments where you're just holding eachother and you don't have to talk or makeout or anything, and those times are great.

The other thing I get from it is "I'm an alien, you're an alien, it's a beautiful rain" Like maybe they both don't fit in with the crowd, but it doesn't matter they have eachother, and the rain looks better when you're in love.

Damn I miss alt-rock.

Ben Folds Five – Brick Lyrics 22 years ago
A lot of their other songs aren't as sentimental "Song for the Dumped", but they're good in their own right (Violent Femmes kind of way) This song is one of the best sentimental songs I've heard in a long time (sentimental music hasn't been very popular with the Limp Bizkit crowd) I'm willing to put this song up there close to "Yesterday"...I think it's that good.

"For the moment we're alone, she's alone, I'm alone" What a perfect description of a relationship on the outs.

submissions
Weezer – Tired Of Sex Lyrics 22 years ago
It seems that Rivers had some casual sex after the Blue Album. "I know I'm a sinner, but I can't say no" and he liked it! It's okay Rivers, in the great words of George Michael "Sex is wonderful, sex is great, sex is best when it's...one on one." So rock it out, scream and shout...But I hope you find true love someday.

submissions
Weezer – Susanne Lyrics 22 years ago
Simply a love song. The line with Izzy, Slash, and Axl Rose...I have to give props to Rivers for embracing the G-N-R.

Also, remember that this song was written for the Mallrats soundtrack? Well if you paid attention in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, then you noticed (along with a thousand other references to Smith's previous movies) that the monkey they steal is named "Suzanne". A little weezer/kevin smith trivia for that ass.

Foo Fighters – My Poor Brain Lyrics 22 years ago
It seems that things are going okay for him and the girl...Then he has a blackout and becomes an angrier more intense version of himself. Like a manic-depressive. "I can't save you from my poor brain" he wishes he could be normal, but he can't and he's sorry for it.

The line "Sometimes I feel I'm getting stuck, between the handshake and the fuck"...I love that line, I don't know why I really have no idea what it means.

submissions
Foo Fighters – I'll Stick Around Lyrics 22 years ago
I don't know if this is a friend/Kurt/Parents/girlfriend he's talking about. But they've done some awful things and he's ready to get away from them. I used to think it was about a preachy mom, because I mistakenly thought the "and learn from all that came from it" part was "her bible paid my debt" But alas, I was wrong about the lyric. I like it though, and might put it in a sing myself.

submissions
Eels – Electro-Shock Blues Lyrics 22 years ago
This is on my top five (or bottom five?) of most disturbing/depressing songs. It's freaking amazing...The slow pace where the music doesn't just stop, their's no audio at all.

submissions
Weezer – Photograph Lyrics 22 years ago
I think this song is about imperfect love. How people date and date and fall in love over and over and it doesn't work with this person and that person.

"It's in the Photograph of love" If you just stumbled upon my senior prom picture, not knowing me, you would think me and my gal were madly in love...But the picture doesn't show that we were fighting, falling apart, berating eachother....In a picture of love it's perfect, but in the real world love is never perfect.

That last sentence sounded really pompous.

submissions
Weezer – Across The Sea Lyrics 22 years ago
I dig this song, as I dig everything Weezer's done (except Surwax America maybe...No, I'd sing it if it was on right now) but this is one of the songs I can't really relate to. I'm not the lead singer of a huge band that has a fan base in Asia. But it's still catchy as all hell.

submissions
Eminem – The Way I Am Lyrics 22 years ago
The man's got balls to put a song like this out there. People can hear it and go "That's what you get for being famous, you should have known better". But it's honest and his flows are just crazy. I've never heard anyone rap like he does on this song, the pace, the rhymes, the inflections....Eminem's the Lenny Bruce of our generation.

submissions
The Dandy Warhols – I Love You Lyrics 22 years ago
I can't tell if this song is horribly sardonic or horribly sad...Kind of an older "Only In Dreams"

The Dandy Warhols – Big Indian Lyrics 22 years ago
If you've gone to college and had to leave all your childhood friends behind, you should get it. Or, if you're like me and just had to go out and see the world without your old buddies...Bittersweet.

submissions
The Dandy Warhols – Horse Pills Lyrics 22 years ago
As much as I dig the Dandy's for their hedonistic audacity, I think they can show their real feelings in a lot of their songs...This one talks about those rich bored kids with drugs, sex, excess that they can't appriciate because they're too jaded...I mean...No one should do drugs and wait until marriage!

submissions
The Dandy Warhols – Bohemian Like You Lyrics 22 years ago
God this song is my anthem...When me and my friends first heard it, it was like "Damn, I guess we're bohemian"...Ex-boyfriends sleeping on the couch so you can have someone else sleep over...I love you hair, but I just like you...Debauchery, Audacity, and Stretch-pants.

submissions
Radiohead – Fake Plastic Trees Lyrics 22 years ago
I agree with everyone else's comments...This song is so desperate..."She looks like the real thing, she tastes like the real thing" I love Radiohead for incorporating modern technology in their music creation (synth, crazy digital production effects) but at the same time they reject modern life and all its trappings.

submissions
Radiohead – Just Lyrics 22 years ago
Is there anyone that can't relate to this song? I mean who doesn't know that one person that makes themself a victim?

But more specifically this song seems to be about a friend of his that dated an abusive loser...You try to convince the friend that this guy is trash, but she just keeps letting him back into her life...So after a while she's no longer a victim because she's enabling him.

It's also just a damn rockin' radiohead song that's surprisingly coherent (compared to their later stuff)

Marcy Playground – Opium Lyrics 22 years ago
Sex & Candy was good before it was played 5,000 times. I wouldn't have bought their CD except that my friend's sister was always playing it and I got sort of hooked after a few visits...

Third Eye Blind – God of Wine Lyrics 22 years ago
Halo, very good and brief...But I think you can apply it to and relationship where the other person is bent on destroying themself...The hopelessness and how eventually you have to give up so you don't get messed up yourself...

Third Eye Blind – How's It Going to Be Lyrics 22 years ago
Three words: Stupid highschool romance...Not to say I don't miss those days, this song captures that for me.

Marcy Playground – Opium Lyrics 22 years ago
This song reminds me of Pink Floyd...That whole drug induced calm euphoria...

Marcy Playground was a one hit wonder on MTV, but I think if more people had given them a chance for more than "Sex & Candy" they would see that they are horribly underrated.

submissions
Marcy Playground – One More Suicide Lyrics 22 years ago
This song is so folksy, but the subject is just damn depressing. The narrative about a man killing himself and his mother giving up is chilling. Good song.

Incubus – The Warmth Lyrics 22 years ago
This has got to be one of my favorite Incubus songs...There is not a single instrument (including Boyd's voice) that doesn't shine here. Guitars, Drums, Turntables all come together perfectly...And something about the whale sounds at the beginning.

As far as the lyrics go, Brandon Boyd proves that you can be optimistic without being a wussy. That having hope and being an individual and not conforming is actually pretty damn cool.

When time washes away most of the "rap-rock" bands of today, I guarantee that Incubus will still be standing tall.

submissions
Incubus – Stellar Lyrics 22 years ago
This song is a great example of Incubus' style. The earlier albums have it, but it was less refined. With the album "Make Yourself" and this song they show that they can incorporate guitars, drums, and turn-tables, put a little hip-hop flavor in there and still come up with something more profound than "I want to break something"

submissions
Incubus – A Certain Shade of Green Lyrics 22 years ago
I agree that the song is about going after dreams, aspirations, etc...But the lyrics posted here are a slight bit wrong I think...I thought the last part was "When you procastinate you choose lies" The posted lyrics make more sense, but Brandon has a way of pronouncing things oddly....Who knows.

submissions
Gorillaz – Punk Lyrics 22 years ago
The song is like one minute, high tempo, you can't make out the words...Punk's a perfect name...I like the fact that they use production effects (turntables, synth) in the song which are comletely un-punk.

The Strokes – Is This It Lyrics 22 years ago
