Foo Fighters – For All The Cows Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This song is about being a cow. Dave was mistakenly identified as a cow. Not wanting to blow the gig for the other cows, he decides to play along. |
Subtle – F.K.O. Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This is the poetry directly out of the cd booklet, so it's not necessarily in the order on the recording. |
Animal Collective – Daffy Duck Lyrics | 17 years ago |
doesn't it make more sense if it was "are you in need of teething / and nibble on your neck?" .. cause that's what i hear. seems to fit too ( i never heard the neck part ) |
Imogen Heap – Headlock Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Actually, this is more than just believing in someone. It's a specific kind of relationship between the narrator and the person they're talking to. It's about love, otherwise there would be ne no references to "hearts". The key line here is "With big intention, still posted at your station Always on about the day it should have flown." Which shows that the narrator is the one who wants something from the person, and the person can't give it to them ("too late to start") because they are pre-occupied with something else ("heart in a headlock"). Specifically, the narrator wants a relationship with the person, but the person cannot get into it because their heart is too mangled [from past relationships?], but the narrator still has the patience to wait for them, however frustrating it may be. |
The Locust – Get Off The Cross The Wood Is Needed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
typo: a wolf _remains_ a wolf.. in that last sentence of mine |
The Locust – Get Off The Cross The Wood Is Needed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
actually... "hasn't eatern your sheep" would make LESS sense than "has eaten your sheep".. If you say something remains something you're assuming that something in between has changed... you can't just say "i remain myself even if i do nothing", its an ambiguous statement, much like saying: "a wolf is a wolf even if it [has done nothing] hasn't eaten your sheep" |
The Locust – File Under 'Soft Core Seizures' Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i dont see it... |
Paul Simon – Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Actually, the winning answer seems to be from Paul Simon himself, who said he "didn't know" what the mama saw, or what they were doing at the school yard. |
Copeland – Pin Your Wings Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i like how everyone sees this song totally differently the really confusing lines are Hey amanda While you're staring at your telephone tonight do you feel like turning it off, turning off all of the lights? i still have no clue what it means, but im not going to pretend i do, like you guys |
The Locust – Solar Panel Asses Lyrics | 19 years ago |
what the fuck? someone explain |
The Locust – Moth Eaten Deer Head Lyrics | 19 years ago |
there new shit sucks its so mellow hahahahahahahah you obviously have no concept of music |
The Locust – How To Become A Virgin Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it's about being someone you're not "Taping fur to your back does not make you a werewolf " says it all |
The Mars Volta – Cassandra Gemini Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I dunno, this stuffs good. But I feel like theyre too jam bandish now, making long songs just for the sake of it. Deloused in the Comatorium was a lot better, because they limited themselves per song while still maintaining an overall constant theme for the album. |
At the Drive-In – Sleepwalk Capsules Lyrics | 19 years ago |
wait, you can compare anything you want-- why cant you compare kurt cobain to this stuff? its all music... |
At the Drive-In – One Armed Scissor Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Dude, its about being an astronaut and having your capsule break down and you end up floating into oblivion for eternity, or until you stave to death or cut yourself to pieces. |
Blink-182 – I'm Sorry Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I always thought it was the original song about Scott... if you look at all the references ... "it is ALMOST over". This took place while they were recording the album; keep in mind they kicked scott out RIGHT after releasing, which means the problems probably started while they were in the studio. They also say: "And we've always thought / That this could never happen, you see" as if its more than one person talking, which leads me to believe that it isnt a reflection about a relationship. Its a reflection from two people on a friend... |
The Blood Brothers – The Face in the Embryo Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I don't know where you got drug addict from... unless you're talking about that one last line 'you can smell the morphine in its veins', but thats not even a repeated image, so i dunno about that...pregnancy works though |
Eminem – Like Toy Soldiers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Actually mosh is a shitty song and is an obvious ploy to cash in on the anti-bush fad and just lose it is awesome. |
Jimmy Eat World – Night Drive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
best song? ugh you all disgust me. what happened to goodbye sky harbor? this is a pretty shitty song. JEW used to be able to NOT have to sing such so-obvious-its-a-love-songs what happened? |
Jimmy Eat World – Kill Lyrics | 19 years ago |
what happened to their lyrical abilities? "Well you're just across the street Looks a mile to my feet I want to go to you " i mean, come on...... |
Eminem – Mosh Lyrics | 19 years ago |
lol, whys he angry 1) why do you think hes even angry? 2) hes 'angry' cause america is fighting a pointless war |
The Blood Brothers – Teen Heat Lyrics | 19 years ago |
to be honest i didnt even know that was you BUT I BET YOU THINK YOU'RE COOL NOW |
The Blood Brothers – Peacock Skeleton with Crooked Feathers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i was looking at live at the apocalyptic cabaret, and i saw that as being about the media. that idea may have rolled into this song too....? |
The Blood Brothers – Teen Heat Lyrics | 19 years ago |
YAY, you managed to explain the EASIEST song on the album. congrats. |
The Blood Brothers – Trash Flavored Trash Lyrics | 19 years ago |

The Blood Brothers – Devastator Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Politics politics politics. Really shows how much theyve changed from their socio charged lyrics from BPB to a more political view (on the war in iraq?). Death campaigns are a fucking gold mine... |
The Blood Brothers – Peacock Skeleton with Crooked Feathers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
beast and priest peacocks ... are these peacocks the good/bad consciences? |
The Blood Brothers – Crimes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
DUDE WHAT THE FUCK, POST THE REST OF THE CD IF YOU HAVE IT!!!!!! |
Simon and Garfunkel – I Am A Rock Lyrics | 20 years ago |
wow talk about over analyzing. dngshouse do you really believe he thought about the song that deeply? do you think he used the word womb so perfectly to match his 'temporary' metaphors? Because when you read the song, it sounds more like he just used it cause it rhymed. It sounds like hes just using various imagery to describe the will to be locked up. when you think about it... what _IS_ permanent? if a rock wall isnt permanent, nothing is. i think you're looking to closely at imagery just meant to be lyrical range, not some deep meaning. bongo is right, though, the last two meanings are the key to the song. they describe what he is (the rock, the island). anyway yea, dont overanalyze. |
Incubus – Talk Shows on Mute Lyrics | 20 years ago |
you people LOVVVVVVEE to jump on the "incubus is anti-bush" bandwagon everytime he says "america" you respons" BUSH SUCKS", its almost as if its you guys who are making up your meaning to this song and shoving it into the mouth of incubus |
Motion City Soundtrack – My Favorite Accident Lyrics | 20 years ago |
uprising, you're an absolute idiot. This site is called songMEANINGS. thats why were all here, to know the meaning of the songs, not to say "OOOOOOH I LOVE THIS SONG THE SINGER IS SO SEXY". this site is meant to explain the lyrics, if you cant handle that get the fuck out of here. thanks |
Motion City Soundtrack – My Favorite Accident Lyrics | 20 years ago |
uhm..... Remember george michael's faith? "Before this river becomes an ocean" Was referring to a river/ocean of tears That's pretty much what this is You hit the road and left me an ocean (of tears) "I can't swim in the silence of your skin" means I can't swim/last in the silence/absence of your skin/presence |
Squarepusher – My Red Hot Car Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Yea um i looked it up on the net and apparently the first line is "You scream out for more" |
Incubus – Megalomaniac Lyrics | 20 years ago |
OMG thats umpossible!!!!!!!!1 2 people at once?????1 |
Pedro the Lion – Amazing Love (And Can It Be) (Charles Wesley cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
the 3rd line should be "an interest" not an "inch rest" |
Squarepusher – My Red Hot Car Lyrics | 20 years ago |
it's car. why the fuck would it be cock? cocks arent red and hot, cars are. his car is |
Pavement – Cut Your Hair Lyrics | 21 years ago |
it's not Charge it like a puzzle it's JUDGE it like a puzzle...makes more sense. |
Pedro the Lion – Secret of the Easy Yoke Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Hey myeyesareopen, ...you're a dumbass. it's about losing faith in GOD: "i still have never seen you, and somedays i don't love you at all" ...Yes, it also has to do with other people losing faith in god, losing reason, but mainly about how he himself is losing faith IN GOD. |
Glassjaw – Trailer Park Jesus Lyrics | 21 years ago |
what, hosanna isnt hebrew for anything |
Blink-182 – My Pet Sally Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Wow emoguy, its so sad that you can try to make up a lie like that to make this song look cool...............when it's really not |
Hot Water Music – Sunday Suit Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Wow, what amazing lyrics. A message directed to God about how he chooses not to follow Christianity but still can lead a full and good life. |
Blink-182 – Sometimes Lyrics | 21 years ago |
this is one of their best songs, mainly because of the energy. |
Glassjaw – Radio Cambodia Lyrics | 21 years ago |
this relates so well to the war in iraq.. but wasnt this song written BEFORE 9/11? |
Pearl Jam – Even Flow Lyrics | 21 years ago |
You know it's sad really because just about every song Pearl Jam writes is about the homeless or the hungry, or both together....They could use some variety. |
Hot Water Music – She Takes It So Well Lyrics | 21 years ago |
amazingly done, the mood in the song kicks so much fucking ass, i love the feel that the instruments give.. this song is musical genious |
Thursday – Where The Circle Ends Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song is very political/cultural It's about not helping others in a political sense...political and cultural selfishness: And even when we extend ourselves, its only to be included in a world that's standing still "Standing still" towards others peoples problems and world refers to culture, or north america (and probably all 1st world countries) in this case, not the actual world hes saying we "extend" or advance technologically or otherwise to catch up to other 1st world countries, to be included in their "world", not to include ourselves in a 3rd world country's "world" "Paving the same roads Unwilling to walk them" This is how we do so much work on our own society but don't even put it to good use, like we waste our food instead of donating it to starving children. "Bronze fist soldiers return To watch the twilight across the faces Skylights ignite and explode " This is a great depiction of the state that USA keeps its peacekeeping forces in. We send back our troops when there is war on so many fronts that we can be helping with, and we just watch as people kill themselves. the books pretty straightforward And somewhere these people are keeping records And writing a book For now we can call it "The Book About the Basic Flaw Or "The Book About the Letter "N" Or "Any Title That a Book About a Man That No One Cares About Might Have" And as we turn the pages we call out the sounds of nothing The sounds of a vanishing alphabet Basic flaw refers to the basic flaw of mankind, in this case would be selfishness letter N im pretty sure refers to "N"obody and the 3rd one is obvious and its stating that theyre remembering how were not helping but at the same time they're dying out because of the fact that were not helping them |

Goldfinger – Decision Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song relates perfectly to my last summer, where i fell head over heels for a girl who ended up telling me she could only like me as a friend and then chose someone else. everything in the song actually happened to me, thats the scary part. |
The Tragically Hip – Ahead By A Century Lyrics | 21 years ago |
