Murder by Death – A Masters in Reverse Psychology Lyrics 20 years ago
I really like this song, but I'm in love with I'm Afraid of Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf, and "Until Morale Improves...."

Murder by Death – Until Morale Improves, the Beatings Will Continue Lyrics 20 years ago
This is one of my favorite songs by them because of the lines "buckshot is my bread, I'll drink whiskey instead of water......" I'm always singing that part to myself after hearing this song

Murder by Death – I'm Afraid of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf Lyrics 20 years ago
Before Murder by Death was Murder by Death (Little Joe Gould)....These guys are absolutely amazing live and the cello adds a whole new dimension to their sound. I think this band is great not just because they are all strong musicians who play well and interact on stage well, but because their lyrics are well thought out and meaningful. The introduction to this song was what caught my attention the first time I heard it...very haunting

Taking Back Sunday – Bike Scene Lyrics 21 years ago
nu uh. Listen to the girl singing. I know adam says that, but the girl sings something a little bit different. I checked the liner notes to see what they said after u wrote that and that's also what's printed.

Taking Back Sunday – Bike Scene Lyrics 21 years ago
It may sound like movielife b/c Eddie Rayes who plays guitar for taking back sunday was one of the original members of movielife. I don't think it sounds a whole lot like them tho. Also, btw, she's saying "your silly way of keeping me upon the edge of my seat" not "you've got this silly way," that's adam's part.

From Autumn to Ashes – Reflections Lyrics 21 years ago
I fucking love this song, and it gets better everytime I hear it. The beginning is amazing when he starts w/ I felt you slip away and the energy just builds. When I saw them at a warped show people were absolutely freaking out and staff and promo people were taking running leaps off the stage in herds. It was fucking fabulous

Recover – The Feel Is Gone Lyrics 21 years ago
This is one of my favorite Recover songs. I think some of the lyrics are missing from this tho, like doesn't he say save yourself you're on your own at the beginning of the song too? Maybe I'm wrong I haven't listened to it in a little while. It sux b/c when I saw them I thought they would play this and they didn't. But they were still good live.

The Get Up Kids – Long Goodnight Lyrics 21 years ago
I've been listening to alot harder stuff lately and I found this song on a mixed cd i had the other day. It made me think of last yr at college when I was going thru alot of shit and I really identified w/ this song. I love the vocals on this, he's really expressing the emotion in the song through his voice, depressing and heartbroken. The lyrics are amazing too, especially every attempt to is filled with holes, reads like a polygraph I'm told. One of my favorite GUK songs.

Open Hand – The Dream Lyrics 21 years ago
Explain how Open Hand's music is more complex. I think the bands are just different, Thursday sounds pretty complex to me, especially if you pay attention to the lyrics b/c they are filled with metaphorical references. I'm not dissing Open Hand or anything, because I like them alot, especially this song. They are also excellent live so def check them out if you get a chance.

Atreyu – Ain't Love Grand Lyrics 21 years ago
Um....I don't think he was comparing the two bands, it seemed more like a little shout out. Also I personally like both Alkaline Trio and Atreyu, I don't think you need to stick to one genre of music. I'm not like oh fuck this band has hardcore riffs but their singer is emo and I'm stictly hardcore. Secondly calm down, yours is the most judgemental post I've seen on the board, other people aren't really taking an absolute stance on this song. Personally I love this song, and I like Atreyu alot. They have some similarities to other core bands, but have their own distinctive sound which I happen to really like. This song really sticks in my head for some reason.

The Used – A Box Full of Sharp Objects Lyrics 21 years ago
alright the used is not my favorite band but I think this song is really good. I think that people who compare them to glassjaw and finch are doing so because of the screaming and I see the similarity but I don't think that they are ripping them off. First of all bands like Finch have two separate singers one who does the screaming and one who sings, Bert does both on this song. I can see how Glassjaw is similar because Daryl has alot of range in his voice and can go from singing to screaming in rage in an instant, but the guitars are totally different, Beck plays more lead and puts melodies in, while the Used is mostly playing chords. And you know what, if you're going to complain about the used ripping off glassjaw and finch, you may want to realize that finch started off as a deftones ripoff and glassjaw takes alot of influence from deftones and faith no more. These bands all have alot of the same influences so there will be similarities in their music, it doesn't mean they are ripping each other off. And whoever the fuck compared them to taking back sunday needs to get their ears checked.

Alkaline Trio – Queen Of Pain Lyrics 21 years ago
I love this song so much. The guitars at the beginning sound amazing and compliment the lyrics and melody so well. To me this song is about when someone you love feels alone and you want to slap them because they don't realize how much you care about them. There's a sense of urgency in this song about how desperate they are to make them see that. The opening line there's a fire forming not to far from here seems to me like he's saying there's a problem on the horizon, something that will be obvious soon. "worn out on courtesy we've made our curtain calls" You can only hide your true self for so long, eventually formalities will be overcome and you have to confront your problems not hide them behind an act. I think the bathroom surgery and arms reference is talking about suicide and being depressed. The other parts are about being loyal to her and taking the pain for her "I'd test poisoned food for you" What really gets me in this song is how much he doesn't want her to hurt anymore, he knows he doesn't make her happy but is incredibly loyal. "your majesty you're royal blue, I'm loyalty my king of pain" It's beautiful.

A Static Lullaby – The Shooting Star That Destroyed Us All Lyrics 21 years ago
Hey because I'm too lazy to do it someone needs to put the lyrics to charred fields of snow up. I love this song so much, but I like charred fields of snow because of how the guy just freaks at 1:12. I always listen to that song when Im running and when it gets to that part I just can't help myself and start sprinting and people look at me like I'm crazy

Thursday – Concealer Lyrics 21 years ago
I feel like this song gets overlooked sometimes because everyone pays attention to cross out the eyes, how long is the night, and understanding in a car crash. This has always been my favorite Thursday song for alot of reasons. First of all in alot of their other songs like autobiography of a nation they do a little intro and kind of build into the verses, whereas in this they more or less go right into it so whenever they play it live it has an incredible energy right from the start. I love the screaming in this song... "If you want to change the way I look at you" "you won't have time" I love how the screaming in the song goes right into Geoff's singing, like he just picks up and finishes the sentences it really shows contrast but at the same time links different degrees of emotion. Lastly, but most importantly are the lyrics themselves especially the line "cadence beats down on the tar it sounds the same as your fist raining down" Lines like this are really poetic, they flow well and by comparing the two actions it gives you a vivid image of what he's singing about.
