Blindside – Nerve Lyrics
|
I take this song as my personal anthem to God, because I can relate it so well to my life. I want God to use the ministry that I have to give Him, especially while I'm in high school. But it's really hard.
God has to force him to open his mouth, because he doesn't want to. He has to have God take over when they treat him like a goody-goody, because it's extra hard for him then. He's telling God how he wants to share His love for them, but he knows he can't when he's getting his defenses up. He says they're trying to make him feel ashamed because he's touched and set apart by God. He asks God to help him show people his thirst for Him. He's praying to God to give him a peace and he wants to just lean on Him. He needs God's spirit to talk to him and His Holy Spirit to be with him. "They are liberated minds, I'm a narrow-minded fool" he's saying that they see themselves as open and tolerant and he's supposedly the polar opposite and a total fool for what he believes. "My mouth will be closed if there's no one seeking". He's saying that if someone doesn't come asking him, he won't search for people or seek them out. (This is something I struggle with, because I keep my defenses up instead of choosing to make myself vulnerable in order to reach people.) He's saying that love would be more convincing than anything he could say and that maybe his words will never come out right, but he'll stay and persevere. "Everybody believes in God, but no one does in You" he's saying that everyone says they believe in God, but he knows that what they "believe" isn't God at all... But he knows who God is, and he believes. He's not ashamed. |

hey, no one should give you crap for that, and if they do, they can answer to me! ;) besides, that's one of the main points of bands like relient k, is for their music to reach the world. I mean, Blindside plays in bars and clubs because they tour for the single purpose to reach EVERYbody.
Oh, and I like this song really well. Their old stuff was different than the new stuff. I like both, though! |

The song is really up to interpretation, but you have to give evidence to support your claim, drkshadow. the blood thing you described as when you hurt somebody it catches up to you. but what about the line "those red stains of love will remind your heart now"? I'm not saying you're wrong, but support your claim. to me, this song is definitely without a doubt about the blood that Jesus had to shed, and the choice that every single person has to make. |

Lifehouse – Out Of Breath Lyrics

"the past has left its stain, now I feel the shame. I'll seize the day if You take away the chains of yesterday."
I like that part because he's telling God that his past and his shame hold him back, and keep him in bondage. he tells God if He will take away these chains, he'll seize the day and take the freedom that God offers.
I like this song because as a Christian I've had to deal a lot with the "chains of yesterday". I've messed up a lot in the past, and I feel like I pay the consequences for it all the time. But that's why God's grace is so awesome. Because I could never do anything to deserve that much love. I'm the least worthy person on the planet for redemption, but it's not about being worthy. that's what's so awesome. while we were still sinners, Jesus loved us so much that He would die for us. He died for everyone. Even those people that spit His name out on the sidewalk... there's no reason or explanation in it except that it's by total grace that we've been saved. I can't NOT have reverence for that. And I'll keep living for the day that I'm with Him. |

"Don't let me second guess what I know to be real". Amen to that.... "I cannot pretend that everything makes sense, but does it really matter now?" to me that part is like he's saying he can't explain everything or even pretend to have a tiny idea of the answer to the theological questions. but you get to a point where it doesn't really matter anymore. You get to a point where religion and beliefs fade away and all that's left is you and god and faith... that's when it's beautiful. |

no no NO! You guys are missing his point. Lifehouse isn't god, Jason isn't god... especially not a sex god. This song is him having a total reverence for God. it's beautiful and pure. I think they want people praising God for their music, not them. because He's where their talent came from. He's where all of everything they have in their lives came from.... anyway, beautiful song. I'm definitely not hating it. ;) |

I know that Jason wrote this song about his wife, but it's all about interpretation. k? So I interpret this song as about God. And to me it's about going through something and you feel unstable in your relationship with God. And he's telling Him "Would you catch me if I fall out of what I fell in? Dont be surprised if I collapse down at your feet again". Like he's asking God if He would catch him if he fell out of the love that he felt for God. and he's telling God basically not to be surprised when he has to collapse back at His feet again. I took that as falling on your face at the feet of God. And I'm not being narrow-minded. I just interpret things as they fit in my life. That's what interpretation's all about. ;) |

I just have to say something. recently I've given up secular music. Not because it's "evil" or whatnot. but because I feel like the more that I limit the world's voice in my life, the better I'll be able to hear God's voice. anyway, I just wanted to say that I'm truly grateful to bands like blindside. They've made it not so hard to give up certain bands that I really enjoy listening to. I applaud them for what they do and who they are. (I'm really glad that listening to christian music doesn't mean you're forced to listen to sucky music!) |

woah woah yeah YEAH!
Man, this so reminds me of the things going on in our youth program right now. crazy awesome stuff. I love it when Christians are real. so many times we don't realize that when we open up and tell our testimony that it has the power to change someone else's life and that God put us through it to help someone else out. "broken chains through your confession". "I'll remember your truth that set me free from it getting darker and darker in that secret place." my friend struggled with bisexuality for a couple of years and now has finally been freed from it. she shared it with us and wasn't ashamed to talk about it and to admit it. and it brought this atmosphere that was so insane. people started opening up and admitting who they really were deep inside that "secret place". it was so great. |

I don't know, to me this song is from God's point of view. the imagery, the imagery! "I'm standing with my wings around you. I cry". !! "And I feel what you feel inside. and as your skin got burned mine did too when they lied." I LOVE how this song talks about how God can't wait to welcome us home, but he urges us not to leave earth in this state. I read a book once that talked about why God didn't just send Jesus back now. (Isn't there enough suffering? why would He keep us here?) well, it talked about how God wants as many people saved as possible before He sends Jesus back. the way that it talked about it was so cool, like God was desperate for us to turn to Him because He doesn't want us to have to suffer... it's really a beautiful thing. |

you guys are so funny. I speak swedish and english both (obviously), and translations sound really freaked out. In swedish the song is really beautiful. there is a lot of stuff that's lost in translation from the actual song. but the message is still beautiful. "Meet me on your knees before His feet." there you go. |

Blindside – King Of The Closet Lyrics

I love how he talks in the beginning about how it was never the dark that frightened him; it was the light that terrified him. (obviously the light is symbolic for the light of Jesus). "I'm okay, yes I'm okay if that will make your questions go away." I like that part because it reminds me of when we have an altar call and you ask the person next to you if they need to be down there and they say "I'm okay", but you know they need to be down there... and my favorite line in the whole world: "I'm not sure, I'm not sure I wanna be a man anymore". so cool.
You guys know one thing I love about blindside? They're swedish, and that language tends to have better descriptive language. so all of their songs have this quality... like there are just some lines in their music that you stop and say "wow. that was beautiful." or at least I do. ;) |

Blindside – Daughter Lyrics

I agree with acerbicheart. I think this song is really a beautiful message of how God feels for all of us. "to me you were never ever unclean". no matter how much we sin, God sees us as His children, and when He looks at us, He sees us bathed in Jesus's blood. "I know you know I am, but, even if it's slow, you're walking away." God's saying that He knows this guy believes in Him and knows He's there, but God also sees that this guy is walking away. Maybe slowly, but he's still walking away. "your pride has grown legs taking you away" He's talking about how this guy's pride is taking him slowly away from God. "I wonder for how long you can take that image you fake". I like that part, because i go to school with so many people that love to say they're christian and let everyone know that they're believers, but they don't really. it drives me nuts. anyway, this guy's pride is getting in the way of his ability to hear God's voice because the pride is plugging up his ears. " I hear your thoughts that are screaming in my face, 'shut up, shut up, shut up!'." The thoughts that this guy is having are basically telling God to shut up, because he wants to listen to himself. And the last part of the song needs no interpretation. Man, this song is beautiful. "those wounds must hurt. Let me clean you", "to feel pain ain't a sin, but it's when you're trying to cover it up that you hurt me within". I don't know... it's just beautiful. and to know that there really IS a God that feels this way for someone like me is awesome. better than that, even. |

Blindside – Act Lyrics

this song is about beeing christian and getting fed up with the ideals of the world. he wants to escape this place because they have their values so screwed up. and he talks about how the people in the world have to hide themselves behind masks to even survive because if they showed their vulnerable selves, they'd get eaten for breakfast. This song is really about him making a decision to live for heaven and not for the world. "On what I left behind I won't waste a tear". he says that he doesn't regret his decision for one second. "and wait until I see with my own eyes again" he's talking about getting away from the world temporarily to clear his mind of the corruption it brought. "And wait until our minds speak the same words as back then". being christian and in the world, he let the world's ideals get to him and it made him lose some of the things that God wanted him to live for. So he's going away until he feels that his mind is free of the world and focused on god.
I like this song because it reminds me to be in the world and not of the world. Also, it reminds me a lot that I'm set apart and that, as one of His children, God has a higher purpose and a higher calling than what the world has for me. that's all. |

This song is so awesome! I love the guitar. And Christian's voice is, as always, excellent. To me, this song is about denying God's existence when you feel Him. "Show Yourself I'll believe. No I won't." It's not really that he's open to believing or that he doesn't believe because there's not enough evidence. He's saying even if God came down and appeared to him, he still wouldn't believe. It's about him not wanting to see God and not wanting to feel God. This song makes me think about those guys that no one will mess with because they're such tough guys. and believing would make them weak. I don't know... to me I think believing takes a LOT more strength than not believing. |

This reminds me of when I was saved. I LOVE singing this song to Jesus. it's so beautiful and exactly what I want to say to Him. "I pour out myself before you, oh Lord. I hold nothing back, 'cause to you less is more." It's great. When I hear it, it reminds me to be humble and to remember how short I fall of His glory. that I should be falling on my face in reverence to Him... Sometimes we get so proud because we're set apart that we don't understand how huge God's mercy truly is. I just make this my prayer so much right now... :) Jesus really is my best friend, you know? |

"crazy that we will never be happy". so true... the world just builds up this hate and distrust... I'm so glad I have something stronger than that... I have wonderful family and friends that really are family. I take for granted sometimes that I have people that I can tell anything to, people that are better than blood... and I thank god for them every day. I used to be so lonely because I didn't trust anybody. I would never let anybody see the real me. but God opened me up and he showed me what true love and trust can feel like. honestly, it's so awesome. but I hate what the world does to people, making them like this song... it's really sad that people think they can never be happy or ever trust anyone. |

this is the type of love that I want for the person that I will marry. and that's the type of person that I want to marry. Brandtson – Sic Transit Gloria (glory Fades) Lyrics

I think that he's talking about someone who looks for worldly glory and is missing the whole point of life. They spend all their time trying to get to be the best, they spend all their life trying to make so much moeny... they lose all their friends that really care because they can't stand the way he's become. He gets sarcastic and says "forget all the others, they just don't see you've got everything you need to make it on your own..." he says he hopes the guy finds everything he's looking for and he hopes he makes it, because he worries what the guy will do when it doesn't happen and when he wakes up at forty and realizes his life is empty and has meant nothing. |

"I'm right back where I started again and I'm wondering how I got to where I've been"... I can totally feel that line. I've been in that situation where you've come so far, but now you're back to where it all began and you look back and you can't even comprehend how you got to where you were in the first place, let alone how to get back.... "it's so good to know you still care, it's so good to know you're there." I think that's one good thing about backsliding when you're a christian. When you come out of it, you get reassured that God still has a plan and a destiny and a purpose for your life and that He's still there even when you've forgotten Him. "so much that I want to say, but I can't and You know that's all right." I love that line. You get to a point when there's so many things that need to be said that you have no idea where to begin. But it's alright, because He already knows what you want to say and what you feel even before you do. |

Brandtson – Blindspot Lyrics

to me this song is about his trust issues with God. He talks about how it's hard for him to see what God wants him to see. he talks about how he lives this "window-sill life", meaning that he lives just right at the window. he can't jump because he's too afraid, but he'll always stand there, because he wants to jump, he wants to get outside. But time after time, he tells himself "someday", and it's safer because there's no risk. He stands at the edge of the world and he cries because he wants to go further, but he's held back by his fear of failing. he remembers a time when God told him to let go of his worry and to trust Him, and he says that he tried to let it go so hard, but it's so hard... and then he talks about how it seems so easy when you're looking into God's eyes, because you know He's right there and He'll catch you if you fall. But when you're out in the world and you can't see Him anymore, it's a different story. God knows him better than he knows himself, and he trusts God more than he could ever trust anybody else in the world. "promises broken are promises made"... I'm not really sure about this part, but I think he's talking about how when he promises that he'll get rid of the fear and the worry but he breaks that promise, it's really a promise for another time, or a promise made. he knows that this will all fade away, and someday this struggle will be gone and he won't even remember how much he struggled with it. |

oh, and I just wanted to add that this song has such a hopeful message for everybody out there. I know the world hurts, but we just have to understand that that's because the world doesn't care. I hate to go all Jesus freaky on everyone...(wait, no I don't), but He wants to take care of us and He wants to bless us like no one else can... and the world just doesn't care. anyways, that's all I have to say. and that when you feel like the person in this song, just keep thinking that there's someone out there (even if you don't believe in God) who cares about you or who would if you would just give them a chance to... |

I know this song was probably written as friend to friend, but I always looked at this song as from God's point of view to us. "it's us against the world", and "We'll be home soon", and "if you miss me, close your eyes and sing with me". Dunno. I'm a "psycho christian girl". I know I've always hated stereotypes, but man... that one's really fun to scare people with. Benny Perez told my youth group that if we just freak out and start speaking in tongues in our math class that nobody would talk for at least half an hour. craziness. |

I think this song is about someone he cares about deeply that doesn't accept that he's christian. He doesn't understand why they can't just grow up and get past it. " I want you to understand my life, I wanted you to know and I wanted you to see and understand this side of my life."
I can relate to this song because this person that he cares about basically personifies nearly every person in the world. People get so tied up in religion and differing beliefs that they grow this prejudice against christians that they're all crazy bible-thumpers. It's funny how you can be so close to someone one minute, but then the minute that they find out that you're christian, this wierd thing grows between you... It's impossible to explain. I hate how we're supposed to have a tolerance for everyone else, but everyone else hates us. It's hard to hold onto a belief that everyone tells you is stupid, ridiculous, or just flat-out wrong. |

This song is about a girl who thinks she can take on the world by herself and she's independent and she's strong. But she comes home crying every time because she finds out that the world is horrible and empty and lonely and scary. She can't even sleep anymore because she fears what she's seen in the world. she's seen all this suffering and she's felt all the sorrow, and she wants to see the beauty that can't be found in the world. She doesn't want to feel this pain of the world, but she lives in it and she goes out into the world all the same. the girl goes through so much, and she's been fooled by the world that that's all there is. And she hates the world and wishes that things would change. And the song ends, showing what she's been missing all along; the happiness that comes with knowing Jesus, what she's really starving for. |

Brandtson – Shannon Said Lyrics

another very good song by Brandtson. "I'm waiting for You alone in my room". I think that's like he's waiting for God, waiting for change. "looking for light, my hands held with dark" he's looking for light, for a hope... but he's still held in the bondage of the world he's left in. "Why is it so hard for me? I hold back my heart and it all falls apart again two seconds from the end." He's saying that he knows the reason that he's not getting the results he wants is because he pulls his heart back before anything can happen or change, because he wouldn't be able to deal with the dissappointment if God didn't do something or if God weren't there. "Why am I the same? It makes no sense when you keep promising change." He doesn't understand why God has promised such a drastic change when he doesn't feel anything happening. "it's always like this. It hasn't always been. I never saw the change, but I need one again." He's frustrated and says "it's always like this", but he knows the truth, that it wasn't always dry like this. he realizes now that he changed before without seeing it, and he just wants to grow again because he feels so dry. "something so true and still so full of lies", he's saying that this change that Jesus can bring into your life can be a lot of lies and plain out christian propaganda, but the change itself is something so pure and beautiful... "I'm high on your smile, coming down on your words. I guess I just should have known." He's saying that he no longer feels dry because he can see God's smile again and feel the high that comes with His presence. "I guess I just should have known", he's saying he should have known all along that God was there and he would see Him again.
Anyway, that's what I think. Love you kids! |

I like the christian meanings I can relate to in Brandtson lyrics. To me this song is just so relateable. "How'd I get so far from where You are?" I like that line, because I know that when you're backsliding, you don't even realize it until you've gone so far you can't even remember what it feels like to be in love with God. "If I thought that You'd hear me, if I thought that I could speak... this is what I'd ask for". sometiimes it seems like you're so far away from God that He can't even hear you anymore. and the part "If I thought that I could speak..." I like that part. "I want to know Your name, I want to hold Your hands and soak it all in. I want to feel the rain on my face again and soak it all in". To me that part is like he's saying he wants to be close to God again, wants to know His name. And the downpour is like the presence of God or the Spirit of God. He wants to feel the rain on his face again and soak it all in. i don't know. I just think it's beautiful. |

I agree, because he says "the one thing I hate most about me is the one thing you want to make your trademark, to feel lust without cute boring love". I love the message put behind this song... so many people are like this nowadays... and I love that there are a few out there who aren't tainted... but my favorite line of this song would have to be "but when the fire is gone, who are you? what are you scared of sister? I'm just as scared as you." I like the fact that he's saying he's scared just like she is, but this just isn't right to do things like that... once again, blindside has totally rocked me, and in the best possible way. :() |

I took it exactly the same way... "'cause it's not on me they're throwing their darts. so why are they heading this way for my heart?" is him saying that it's not him they're criticizing and beating up on, but he feels the hurt all the same. "every stabbing word about you stings..." "have to respond, although without an answer back" "hear my own stupid sentences and I have lost track" I know exactly how that feels. every time someone says something "disproving" god or what not, I don't know what to say to them. and I hate that I don't have the words to defend the one thing that truly matters in my life... and it's so frustrating when you can't make someone listen, because every answer you come up with in defense is so DUMB! even to your own ears. "this battle is not mine" is him saying that he shouldn't feel the need to argue with the people, because it's not his battle to win, it's between them and god ultimately, so he shouldn't feel guilty about not changing their minds... "and I will let the candle shine inside me without any regret." I just like that line, because it's him saying they haven't made him doubt himself, and he's still proud to let his light shine inside. "but where's your voice in all my talk?" yeah... "I am an ant trying to protect my dinosaur friend" puts a lot of that in perspective.... ha ha ha. I just love that line.... I just love the visual that puts in my head. a tiny little ant telling these other guys "hey, leave my friend alone!" in his little pip-squeak voice, and his friend's this big huge gigantic dinosaur standing there. it's gotta be cute and sincere to the "dinosaur", and I'm sure it makes him feel good, but at the same time, he knows he doesn't need protection from some tiny little ants that want to pick on him.... yeah. maybe it's just me. anywho... I really do love how this song so relates to my life. and blindside.... no words could ever express. :) |

finally someone posted the lyrics! I love you, leader of losers. I truly do. but anyways... I started listening to this song because I love the music, and now that I know the lyrics, it's even more powerful, uplifting, awesome, and true. but I digress. my whole point was to tell everyone of my love not only for blindside and this song..... but mostly JESUS CHRIST! okay, yes. you don't have to listen/agree with me, but I love Him so much, you guys! He brings so much love into your life. and I think that's why I love this song so much. I love it when he's talking about how the world has nothing to offer a human soul... that is so true. all the time, I feel as if there's nothing here for me but pain.... and maybe a few moments of true happiness, but it's not enough. and this song is such a great reminder that I need to live this life in a way that I won't die at the end of it.... "I could not care less about what this world has to offer if the price is to die... I'll keep my human spirit alive". and my favorite (or one of my favorite, at least) part of this song would totally have to be the your eyes part. musically and lyrically. okay, that is all I have to say for now. keep on rocking with Him.

This is such an awesome song about his relationship with god.... *sighs*. and so true, too. it puts a lot of things that I've been through lately in perspective. this is where I want to be with my relationship with Him. one question for you all, though. when he says "our hearts speak the same words", is he talking about the people around him, or god?
just a little something to think about. :) oh, and if I forgot to mention earlier, this song is amazingly beautiful.... |

I can't find the pitiful video anywhere, and it's making me angry. but I love the juliana theory, (my fourth favorite band), and blindside (my second favorite band). they are both so awesome that when i saw they were playing together, I went psycho and tried to kill someone. not seriously, but I could have... okay. anyways. I'm getting the cd too!!! and whoever says christian bands all suck, well YOU suck, buddy. *sticks out tongue childishly* lol. buh bye! |

P.O.D. – Anything Right (feat. Christian Lindskog) Lyrics

hey, alone and depressed. I don't think you're totally wrong. I got that vibe listening to it for the first million times too. but this song is so excellent for about four reasons that I can think of right off the top of my head... the DEFINITE number one would have to be CHRISTIAN FROM BLINDSIDE!(my second favorite band in the entire universe), secondly would have to be because my church used this song in one of it's drama thingies, and it was so great. I can't even begin to describe how powerful it made the message... third would be because the meaning and the song itself are great.... to me, the song took the meaning of someone making him feel that he's not good enough (not necessarily saying it...), and I think that could be parents, church people, other bands, just day to day people. oh yeah, and the fourth reason being that my best guy friend loves this band. ;) |

Thursday – Where The Circle Ends Lyrics

oh, and to strike anywhere, please don't call people morons. you don't know thursdaylvr. if you did, then I might agree with you (lol), but you don't. so please ask first what exactly the meaning behind the post was. oh yeah, and even if you disagree with thursdaylvr, then you should please just say that instead of calling her a moron. thanks.

Thursday – Where The Circle Ends Lyrics

I think all that thursdaylvr meant to say (I know her, so believe me) was that she really loves thursday (duh!) and that she just would like to see things stay the same. we've changed our minds recently about this issue, though, and I KNOW that we can trust them to make the right decisions. GO THURSDAY! |

The Juliana Theory – Understand The Dream Is Over Lyrics

yeah. anyways, I think this song is lyrically well-written, and I too believe it is just kind of a reality check. "do you believe what you see to be true?" is one of the best lines in this song because it's basically saying that what you see to be "true" may not be something that you really believe. and I'm not sure about the part that says "the dream is over. you haven't slept in years." I'm sure it's blatantly obvious, but I'm just weird. that is all. bye! |

The Juliana Theory – Variations On A Theme Lyrics

I actually think that this is not one of their best songs lyrically, but I do love this song. "She's anyone, anywhere....." what exactly does that mean? I hate to sound stupid, but..... yeah. well, that's about it, except that I like the part "you barely noticed as she passed because you always hurry now. speeding off you trace the steps of an endless procession, but as a matter of fact there's all too much of that." I like that part because it's saying that he barely even noticed her this time because he's always in such a hurry. as in when you hurry through life, you pass certain things by. I dunno. it makes sense to me. I think I'm going to go post on Thursday now.... |

This song would totally relate to someone who is separated by distance. But aha! not just physically. there could be something different keeping them apart. I know the pain..... sigh. but cheer up! if it's meant to be, it'll happen. |

The Juliana Theory – I Didn't Mean To Break Your Heart Lyrics

I agree. everybody has the right to say what they want. you don't have to agree or believe, but they have the right to put it out there. besides, I COMPLETELY agree with angelinclay. Jesus is the only relationship I'll ever need. (but it still doesn't stop me from wanting, if you know what I mean. sigh.) :) keep playing it safe. oh, and thank you for the dawson high information. and one more thing: guys and girls aren't bad; you need to look at individuals. okay, just one more thing.... I love this song. |
