I enjoy this song a lot, it gets people dancing, and it's sad that people consider it offensive.
It's not saying anything about retarded people, it's using a slang term that people say constantly. I'm pretty sure people could name other slang terms that are used a lot, especially in hip-hop/rap.
The lyrics in the first verse are wrong also:

Rude Boys are nicknames for people involved with ska, dating back to Bob Marely (some refer to him as the original rude boy). Go to a ska show nowadays and if you see someone dressed in two-tone (black 3 piece with a white shirt and a black tie) skanking, they're probably a rude boy.
They could just be a poseur, but it's very rare to see one nowadays, but they're out there. |

I disagree, at the beginning he's getting nervous, but he goes through with it only to be caught. Hence, everything went numb, because he turned against his gut instinct, "Went Numb" to his gut instinct only to be caught.

I think the not so metaphoric meaning of this song is about burning, just straight up. Burning is a type of self-mutilation, similar to cutting, except instead of a cut it's a burn. When he says "she's the only one who knows what it is to burn" it means she's the only one who understands what he's going through.
I think Senses Fail is currently the best band on Drive-Thru, but Finch is close, DT has wayyy too much pop-punk and it's kind of sad. |

Okay, I've read most all the replies on here, and there's pretty much two sides, punk and not punk. WHY CLASSIFY HER AT ALL!? Please stop calling her punk! If you're some 15 year old girl or "boi" who thinks she's punk you're pathetic, you're trying to define something that can't be defined. I'm guessing the same people that think she's punk think that NFG, Mest, Good Charlotte, and Blink 182 are punk. I'm sorry but you have to dig a little deeper than cheesy lyrics, powerchords and a "look" to define punk.
You can like that song, but don't bother arguing whether she's punk or not. Considering there are so many different definitions, no one will ever come up with one that works, generally speaking though, "punk" doesn't get played on MTV/Much Music, that's making a generalization, but it's still true.
Also: Please stop using "gay" as an argument, the last time I checked, someone's sexual preference had NOTHING to do with there genre of music. Real punk has always promoted differences, not trashed them.

The thing about this song is, it IS about alienation. This can be molded into many stories, the Inn Riots being the biggest one of those. It's speaking to the alienated, how everything is coming down in flames, it's sad, but it's true.

I thing it's more about how a girl left him, and he's pissed off, and thought that they had something "special".
He gets very pissed off and then decides the world is better without her, and decides to kill her, "with my hands around your neck who will stop me now" is himself thinking about it.
