Five Iron Frenzy – Day We Killed, The Lyrics

i think this song isn't just about the treatment of native americans, but our treatment of poorer countries in general, hence the line "and now to treaties we are loyal, but tear them up when we smell oil" we go into countries where we're not wanted, and when countries cry out to us (tibet, and for many years the jews in germany before we got involved) we ignore them |

I love this song, it reminds us how we need to be humble (cause we really are nothing), and how awesome God is. and that we need to keep hope and faith, cause God'll reward us when the job is done. |

this is a very good cover of the u2 song (although it doesn't include all of u2's original verses), evergreen terrace also did a good cover, although theirs is more hardcore, while ignite's is more punk. |

golfpunk, not all americans are bloodthirsty. and even though i don't agree with our politics or with a lot of our foreign policies, i know not all those in the military are bloodthirsty, in fact most just want to protect their families and men. my dad is in the army, he has been for 33 years, and he's seen a lot. he's always said the army does a lot he doesn't agree with, but the guys in his unit are his friends, and they've bled together. he isn't in it to kill, he's in it for his men, to keep them alive, and he's in it to protect his family. he's told me he knows he's made mistakes, and has done things that aren't right. but he does his best to protect us. i don't believe in killing, or in this war. but i want golfpunk to know, even though we've all messed up, and had a part in this. not all of us just want blood. and not all of us just don't care. |

i heard these guys play at a little show in marshalltown, iowa. they might not have what you would call talent. but they're lyrics are a real eye opener, and really make you think about the state our world is in. i think we could all learn from their example. you can tell they've really done their homework. |

something makes me doubt this is a real flogging molly song, but if it isn't, they should do a cover of it. deep deep lyrics (really speaks to the heart). |

sweet catastrophe, i am a crazy mood. in fact, you know that little guy that sits on your shoulder, just as you're about to throw a brick through a window, and whispers "just do it, don't think of the consequences, they're nothing compared to the thrill, and those doubts will just slow you down, just DO IT NOW!!!" well, i'm not him. but i am his cabana boy. and as his personal representative, i have to say this song, and all you crazy kids brings tears to his eyes, he's so proud. *sniff* |

by the way phoebe (that's a pretty name), this is a political song, so it'd be natural that the discussion over it would be political (plus i just like to see people argue, and to see where they go with it). |

i've read over this whole thing, and i love it. a good debate is what we need. but think about this, is there really an excuse for bloodshed? war isn't a righteous thing. and killing a brother isn't pretty. whichever side started it, it doesn't matter, whatever cause all of it is for, it doesn't matter. the fact remains that people are killing other people, and instead of shifting blame, people should work to bring peace. but everyone seeks their own selfish desires (whether it's money, power, or revenge), and as long as there is this greed, there will never be any peace. in the end, there isn't anyone that's innocent, and there isn't anyone more to blame than any other. every person plays a part in the bloodshed (directly or indirectly, with action or attitude), and in the end, every person is guilty. |

i think this is a great song with great lyrics, but words can only do so much. i think this band is also doing a great thing by trying to make people aware, but if those people whose eyes are opened to an injustice like this, don't do anything. then they're just as bad as the corruptors and killers, cause they kill by their complaicency. words can only go so far, before it's time for action. think about these things. |

this is an awesome message, but many people like this sort of thing cause they just want to jump on a movement and lash out at something. people really have to be aware of why they support something (or are against it), that it's something they're really committed to out of belief, and not pissed-off teenage hormones. i think many people go crazy over this stuff cause it's the rebel of the moment, but if they stop and listen to the words too , they might really learn something. |

i don't know if this is the BEST rock song ever, but i do think it's a good one. as for the first comment, i really see what you mean. but i also think it could mean that even though we make a lot of promises to change things with every passing year, we never do. people get all hyped up, saying things will be different, but we still make the same mistakes, fight kill and hate, and that nothing ever changes. |

this is a great song for a discussion. it brings to light what war is, nothing glamorous, just blood, and it also brings to light we trust what we see on tv more than our own eyes. and that most of us that have never seen blood with our own eyes, feel that we can judge what war is by what we see on the tellie. little boys dream of being soldiers, and old men reflect on their war years. but a person sees what real war is when they see the blood flow into the gutters like syrup, and mothers walking around in a daze looking for what pieces they can find of their little girl. as for the previous entries to this song: oooo, so much hostility. whether it's about russia or n. ireland, it's message and the singer's feeling is still the same. killing isn't a pretty thing. |

i like this song too, kinda makes you think on how easy it is for us to end life anymore. for us, life can be turned on and off like a light switch, there's nothing holy about it anymore. it's a tool (politically and scientifically). |

U2 – Like a Song... Lyrics

i love this song, it strips away any faking attitudes and talks about how people really are. they get caught up in a movement or a feeling, and they leave everyone else in the dust. they wash in and out with the tides, and don't care about anyone else. too many people say this is a special generation, or this is the one that will band together. truth is, this generation is like any before it, fake and faithless. and no amount of "movements" will set it right, and no amount of arguing, or drawing lines, or war. each person has to look out for the other, and each person has to build his own faith, nobody else can do any of that for them. and no show of pride or patriotism or parade can do any of that for them either. |

Eyes Upon Separation – Program The Toy Lyrics

i agree a lot with timmus, but it also made me think of how a lot of guys struggle with porn and lust and all that, when even those women who we see as worthless, in God's eyes still have worth, and by our exploiting them, we are slowly killing what we see as a whore, and what God sees as his daughter and precious child. and in the end, we judge them, but we're just as guilty (if not more so) as they are. |
