i have tried to correct this song at least 3 times and it hasn't accepted (that was at least like 2 years ago). This is horrible. Here are the real lyrics, if anyone looked it up for them: (note, i don't know about the chorus so I largely haven't edited that part, or the last stanza. if you see something wrong, lemme know) Dear Jamie, I've got a letter I would like to send. It's locking strings of words with punctuation at the end. Should I trust this dialect? To convey the right effect? Dear Jamie, I've got some things I'd like to set in pen. I would have used a pencil but lead's just not permanent. Should I trust my printer's ink? To express the things I think? I always was confused at the first stanza, because his dad says "we can't leave her behind" and then he says "son, I know you don't want her to go, but someday you'll change your mind" which is conflicting. Then I came on here and apparently it means that johnny doesn't want her to go fishing with them? I guess that makes sense, but I think it's kinda cute the other way ;-P Also, I always envisioned them fishing at a park, and the girl just shows up, and this conversation took place as they were going home. But then I noticed the line about the front gate... Another thing that I'm still confused about is why the doctor says "but you'll have to leave"... Why does he have to leave...? Can anyone help out? |

When I first heard this song, and up until I looked on here, I thought this was about a creep taking advantage of girls with low self-esteem, or who are on the rebound or whatever. I'm very glad that's not what it's supposed to be. |
