@[EIGHTEENaintsosweet:3091] or "apples parachute, the boys back down," means the girls who offer the whole thing and scare the boys away, the boys who wanted no-strings, no commitment, backing down because they are afraid of THAT "apple" |
The Meg And Dia Band – Roses Lyrics | 9 years ago |
every line is a deep metaphor. "apples parachute, the boys back down." that's a real deep metaphor. it's certainly not meaningless. |

@[david52665:3090] brilliant theology, nice review. i agree. "god" is allegedly love, or so they say...game over. |
Hole – Violet Lyrics | 9 years ago |
almost pure sarcasm. "so much it turned into rape." yes, it seems about that, with screaming multiple sarcasms... |
The Cure – Fascination Street Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[kaweenuh:3089] yeah, that DOES make sense. metaphoric. |
The Cure – Fascination Street Lyrics | 9 years ago |
it's about going to party where you know that the people are going to suck, anyway, because you have been there before and the people sucked, so you put on your best cool gear and go there to be awesome, and judged, and envied, and cool anyway. that's how it hit me back in 1987. i think that is in harmony with what Smith said in the interview... imagine them going to gigs and finding it boring as hell. |
Go Sailor – Last Year Lyrics | 9 years ago |
whoa, be careful with that stuff what is that...poetry? that's dangerous! |

Earth, Wind & Fire – Fantasy Lyrics | 9 years ago |
on our ship fantasize -- incorrect. on our ship, Fantasii -- correct. i am lucky that i was alive when this record album came out. it was a record album: there was a twelve inch sleeve inside for the lyric sheet. it was beautiful, all the art had to do with the stylized Egyptian motif of the jacket. but the line is: "On our ship, Fantasii" it's a poetic allusion -- a lot like the "Mothership" from Parliament Funkadelic, who were charting and famous in R&B at the same time as this song. Sun Ra was also a famous afro-american (we could say that back then) who used spaceship-music allusions. i read the liner notes, i know that Fantasii was spelled that way -- the two-lower case "i"-s '77 was closer to the hippie-psychedelic issue. a lot of pop art lyrics referred to spaceships, and this is another one... i just joined and am a Nubian. so i won't correct these lyrics... someone else can do it if they care. i think the member of EW&F who wrote the lyric was "Maurice White". on our ship fantasize -- incorrect. on our ship, Fantasii -- correct. |
