Daft Punk – Touch (feat. Paul Williams) Lyrics 8 years ago
This is a deeply philosophical/spiritual kind of search imho.
Touch makes us feel alive, yet most need something more, because once they find "love" it never lasts, at least it doesn't feel quite like it did at the begging, it fades.

The song begins with a very dream like vision from someone who can't quite put his finger on this experience we call life, posing the question is life as solid and permanent as we allude, and is there purpose, whats the answer?
"A tourist in a dream
A visitor it seems
A half-forgotten song
Where do I belong?
Tell me what you see
I need something more"

Then you get a "hit", love comes along and you fell so alive in the moment of it, for the time being, until it fades and you pine and crave for more of the initial feeling.
"Kiss, suddenly alive
Happiness arrive
Hunger like a storm
How do I begin?"
Next comes an amazing verse, it really paints and conveys an unsatisfactory feeling of craving, addiction almost, a frantic search for purpose, life, more of the good stuff, but something that lasts, the "thing", permanent satisfaction and happiness!
"A room within a room
A door behind a door
Touch, where do you lead?
I need something more
Tell me what you see
I need something more"

And for the final verse, need i say anymore?

"Hold on
If love is the answer you hold

Touch, sweet touch
You've given me too much to feel
Sweet touch
You've almost convinced me I'm real
I need something more"

The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Bold As Love Lyrics 9 years ago
Super profound as usual.

"Anger, he smiles,
Towering in shiny metallic purple armour
Queen Jealousy, envy waits behind him
Her fiery green gown sneers at the grassy ground"
Reference to opposites, ying yang, male female characteristics.

"Blue are the life-giving waters taken for GRANTED,
They quietly understand
Once happy turquoise armies lay opposite ready,
But wonder why the fight is on
But they're all bold as love, yeah, they're all bold as love
Yeah, they're all bold as love
Just ask the axis"
Reference to senseless wars fought for individuals. Yet everything is perfect in the world, it all goes together, its all as bold as love, even the bad....couldn't recognize good without bad after all.

The axis is referring to, well the axis, the center of reality, which is the subjective self, named the Brahman whos center is everywhere circumference is nowhere, the ultimate reality. Of course subjectively we our all at the center of the planet...the universe. This is why he goes on to say "just ask the axis, he knows everything" Pure consciousness is all knowing because prior to thought there is consciousness, there cannot be thought without consciousness. Jimi knew this.

The rest is painting his emotions, which keep him from meeting a rainbow: Someone who is full of charisma, a great personality. Jimi was shy when not performing.

Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics 9 years ago
Given that these guys have been out there, in terms of consciousness elevating drugs and that (LSD), and given that their "dark side of the moon" album cover is of our colour spectrum, which is all about the fact we humans can only see in visible light, which makes up something like 0.05% of the universe, the rest is dark energy and matter which we cant see, touch, hear, smell or anything. We cant even see the full spectrum of colour, we see the colours of the visible spectrum, depicted in the album cover. Therefore, I reckon "wish you were here" is getting at the masses of unconsciousness humans in the world, "lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year", who think (conventional scientist's and that kind) that they can understand, with our limited cognitive functions and senses, the complexities of life, or the universe.
Also, over the centuries we've become over rational, we judge every situation and reduce it to a man made concept, such as "good" or "bad", and time. In reality there is no good or bad, good and bad, "blue skies from pain" are a concept that we attribute to experiences, the experience itself is neither it's just an experience. So I think there getting at how humans are caught up in their minds, busy judging, comparing, competing, and getting caught up in delusional, paradoxical concepts, like up from down for example, we live on a spherical planet in space, there is no up or downs, its all relative to the observer. People also have the "same old fears", like the fear of death, social anxiety...were rarely really here, our minds are always elsewhere, like a conceptual veil to reality, reality being beyond conception, because its experience, not a rigid thought construct. So I think their saying "how I wish you were here", in reality, in the moment, which is infinite, the moment is always infinite, time is what we think, when we think of past and future we do it in the moment, when we measure movement and rhythms with a constant (watch/timer), such as day and night, we measure them in the moment.

"Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?" Have you thrown away infinity, the moment, (a life death experience like war brings you heavily into the moment with no time to think about past and future experiences) for your own limited conceptual view of reality. WISH YOU WERE HERE!
