I love this band. I like the song. And I know how it feels to be left. Years ago a man I loved posted wedding photos on his blogs shortly before we were to be together. But he never came for me. He chose someone else. I've found out since that he has chosen many "someone elses." Whenever he's down I hear from him. He's a big sweet-talker. And I know that he just wants to use me whenever he's alone or the person he's with is not adequately filling his needs. He wants his cake and to eat it, too, as the old saying goes. Apparently he wants sucker stamped on my forehead forever and he arrogantly believes he can convince me that he ever planned to be in my life. LOL. I ain't buying, and no amount of words will ever convince me otherwise. Soon the climate of his life will change and I am the last person he would ever want to be with. Personally I think it's about teenage girls who are easily duped by aging dishonest predatory males. I believe the song says that you're NOT a teenager and you cannot go back to being one no matter how hard you try/want to because life does move on with or without us. And it says that at some point music went from enhancing a life to inhibiting one. It became an escape more than a love or a hobby. It stopped others from knowing; oneself from taking chances and having that fire in the gut that comes with gambling; and it made a difficult life easier. But when did "easier" become best. That's what I think the song is about. I think it's an honest song and will hopefully be heard by honest ears, albeit reluctant, angry ears. |
