Black Sabbath – War Pigs Lyrics

It's sad.. but I agree completely, I think life is extremely fragile and killing is unforgivable... but in today's world, a revolution would be only too fitting. |

Pantera – Living Through Me (Hell's Wrath) Lyrics
| 12 years ago

I always thought this song was literally about "Living Through Me (Phil Anselmo)." At least that's how it always felt to me, Anselmo is telling his fans to live the kind of life he did and be a metalhead (bad mother fucker). The song goes through the stages of... conversion I guess, first he's describing the people he's changing, then he says, "Drop the needle and stop what you're changing into." And the end line, "So I'm done with saving you, a gift unto myself, a tired savior" is Anselmo just clearing things up. |

Lamb of God – Laid to Rest Lyrics

I agree with metal head FC, it's not an attack on Bush. I think this song is about remembering who you are, and not trying to fit in with others that the old you wouldn't have liked. "You're better off empty and blank, than left with a single pathetic trace of this, smother another failure, lay this to rest." So in other words be yourself, your better off being yourself than trying to forget who you were just to fit in with others. "Absorb yourself, you're better alone." Reminds me of their lyrics from "In Defense of Our Good Name" which again is about being yourself. |

Meshuggah – Elastic Lyrics

I always just assumed this song was about how organisms are created from dead material and that, in itself, was the brutality of the lyrical part of the song. We are only alive because something else died. We are elastic because of this, able to be altered and created because of dead things. It is Meshuggah though so there is obviously a metaphorical part to the lyrics. I think the metaphorical part could possibly be about breaking free from society and in a sense that goes along with insanity.. although it seems like the speaker is a silent drone, another part of society, "a mind not filled with thoughts, but a random flickering static. A soulless creature un-alive; I'm the un-human elastic." So in other words someone that doesn't think for his/herself and is controlled by what they see on T.V., hear on the radio, etc. etc. |

Tool – Vicarious Lyrics

You are what I like to call... a fucking tool. If Maynard wanted people only listen to him he would be a poet, the music only enhances the emotions put into the song and music will continue to always be one of the most powerful ways of expression. |

Meshuggah – Lethargica Lyrics

I agree, I think it's about life itself, and how brutal the universe is naturally. Life itself kills us lethargically, through age and gravity. It doesn't need to rush, we all will eventually die no matter what. |

Pantera – Use My Third Arm Lyrics

I see it as Phil saying fuck you to all the pussies that use "third arms", aka weapons, to defend themselves from their problems. |

Meshuggah – Bleed Lyrics

It's obviously mainly about an aneurysm, as quoted by Tomas Haake, but he also said it's used metaphorically. So what I got out of it is pretty much the song is about giving into what society suspects of you, aka it kills you like an aneurysm would. |

Meshuggah – Organic Shadows Lyrics
|
It's about inner change and finding who you truly are. He's been hiding in his organic shadow, another pawn of society not wanting to speak his mind, "The motion of thoughts subdued. Overcome, suppressed
by terror [of the government]". He wants the real him and not the one created people, "Hear me. Find me
Save me. The dead me." |
