Taylor Swift – How You Get The Girl Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I think there's definitely some sarcasm in this song. The lines "And that's how it works, that's how you get the girl" after each verse are delivered a little bit regretfully, almost with an implied sigh of "yes... that's how it works... that's how you get the girl..." The fact that the chorus which is repeated has the line "Broke your heart" makes me think that it's important, almost that we need reminding that he screwed up originally. I think overall this song is supposed to be a critique of the very formulaic Nicholas Sparks-esque romance. The idea that someone can screw up completely but as long as he says something nice and cutesy sounding he gets forgiven in the end and gets what he wants. The main point of this song is likely to warn about this kind of romance and to avoid falling for a guy who just says nice things when needed just to get what he wants at the time. In addition, the line in the bridge "And say you want me" probably means that there is/was a guy in Taylor's life who screwed up and that while Taylor knows she needs to move on as a result deep down she would still be willing to take him back in a heartbeat if he did the aforementioned things. |
Paramore – Hello Cold World Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Pretty self explanatory lyrics. Talking about how we are in a cold, fallen world but that we still need to make the best of it and do what we can to change it. |
Paramore – Renegade Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I honestly view this song as one of the most heavily religiously influenced Paramore has done. I think the overall theme is talking about being a Christian on earth and how Christians are "outsiders" in this world. I also think a comment is about searching for earthly goods and never being completely satisfied with them and always wanting more. "The grass wasnt green enough here After watching you with my tears Im not sure where you went We are, just past tense" Talking about how what she has now isn't enough so she broke up with a current significant other to try to search for more. "Oh, when I get there it wont be far enough" Whatever she thinks she want, if it's found on this Earth, will never be enough. "Im a renegade I always was" Just basically talking about how Christians really are "renegades" on Earth and how what we believe is different than what the world often says. "Well, your spark never lit up the fire Though we tried and tried and tried The wind came through your lungs A hurricane from your tongue" The spark, being the efforts to get Earthly satisfaction, never lit up the fire, never achieved what they really wanted and how despite that they kept trying. |
