I think the meaning is quite obvious. But it's written very beautifully. I love this song. I just hope that people don't just listen to it as one of the catchy songs on the radio, and instead grasp the meaning of it. Anyways, This song is about a girl who's life is spiraling down. She must have moved out of her house at a young age and gotten her own apartment. But her addiction to (drugs) made it hard for her to pay her rent. Instead of paying her rent, she spent all of her money on drugs. As the addiction went on, she didn't care for the rent as much as she cared for the drugs. She was miserable and her only escape was getting high. She did whatever she could to get money to pay for drugs. In the music video she sells newspapers on the street and then we see that she resorts to prostitution. This is also evident in the lyrics. At this point, she's realized what she's become and she hates who she is. Her only escape from her self hate and depression was drugs. She would rather get high and risk dying than live another day sober in this miserable life she has. But I also believe that the lyrics indicated a lot of hope. Maybe that she was once a super model or some sort of icon that got addicted to drugs and lost her fame. That's wear the "class a team" comes in. Obviously, she's admired for something. I'm just not sure what. |

"I did this song with Maynard from Tool. Basically, I told him I wanted to create a scenario of being in a car and being taken for a drive when you don't really know what's going on. I wanted him to create a lot of imagery. he wrote a majority of the of the lyrics and left blanks for me to fill in. it seems like you're being held captive, but enjoy what's going on." - Chino :) I do believe it has sexual references though, but that's my opinion. |

my favorite part is when he says "remember what you're staring at is me." makes me think that the "glass" is a wine glass and that his wife is looking at him and that she thinks he's like a monster or something and he wants to tell her that he's sorry and there really is himself in it, he just needs help |

"nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands" from an ee cumming poem but I adore this song. And it's a continuation of Such Small Hands which makes me think that he was drinking in Such Small Hands and then came to her house to tell her this. |

First of all, I'd like to say that I love this song. This isn't just music, it's poetry. You can feel the pain in his voice, and a lot of people don't understand that and think this music is terrible. They are wrong. One thing I do want to know is what this lyric means: "there are ghosts in the walls and they crawl in your head through your ear." maybe it's that there are deceitful people out there that she needs to stay away from? or maybe that the world is changing her. But yes, I think it's a song about how he lost his "girl" because she cheated on him and left him for another man. "Every broken promise that your body couldn't keep." And now he's drinking to help cope with it. Or he was drinking when we confronted her. Either way. "i think you saw me confronting my fears..." And also that the pain is making him paranoid and he can't get it out of his head, hence the "i think I saw you in my sleep." |
