Violent Femmes – Blister in the Sun Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This part would be he's so bad that he's jerkin it and she's at the end of the bed crying. That's what I think. |
The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Wow! I love how people think this about a prostitute. It's about him being in love with a girl he can't have because she's taken. He comes out of his cage, meaning he opens up to her. Gotta be down is obviously acting cool so she doesn't think he's a loser, because I want it all means he wants her and all of her. They kissed at one point but then she said she can't do it because she's with the other guy. All the rest of it is in his imagination. He can't get the thoughts of her being with the other man out of his head but he's trying to act cool and be Mr. Brightside. Not a prostitute at all. |
R.E.M. – Losing My Religion Lyrics | 13 years ago |
No it's not about organized religion or spiritual beliefs. What it's about is a girl that he wants but can't get the courage to tell her out of fear of rejection. The lengths that I will go to The distance in your eyes Oh no I've said too much I set it up Meaning he will do anything for her and he is admitting that he has said too much, meaning he's worried she's going to find out when listening to this song. Every whisper Of every waking hour I'm Choosing my confessions Trying to keep an eye on you Like a hurt, lost and blinded fool Oh no I've said too much I set it up This is meaning every minute of every day he's trying to figure out what to say to her to let her know but he's afraid too. He's always trying to find a time that he can get her alone and tell her how he feels, and again he's afraid of her finding out. Consider this Consider this The hint of the century Consider this The slip that brought me To my knees failed What if all these fantasies Come flailing around Now I've said too much Consider this the hint of the century is him saying, "This song is about you, I hope you get it." Consider this the slip that brought me to my knees, failed is him saying, "Man, I wrote this song, put it out there, what if she doesn't feel the same way? What if she says no? That will destroy me." What if all these fantasies come flailing around? is him saying, "What if she finds out how I feel? What if it hurts me in the end?" I thought that I heard you laughing I thought that I heard you sing I think I thought I saw you try My personal favourite part, basically meaning, "I thought you were happy with me, for a second there I was convinced you wanted to see if something would come of Us." But that was just a dream That was just a dream Referencing to the part where he thinks she's happy with him and that she'd try, but it was just in his imagination and it wasn't real. That's me in the corner That's me in the spotlight Losing my religion Trying to keep up with you And I don't know if I can do it Oh no I've said too much and Finally, the Chorus. This part is saying, this is me, here alone in the corner, losing faith that you love me back, referencing his obsession over her as a religion. He's always trying to please her, or keep up with her, but he's afraid that he's not up for the challenge or that she'll be too much for him. I haven't said enough is exactly it, he wants to tell her how he feels but is too afraid to. That's my interpretation. All songs however, are written to be interpreted in multiple ways. |
A Day to Remember – Heartless Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It's about a girl putting you in the friend zone and always coming to you to complain. This song describes the situation and emotion perfectly. You try and try but she still denies a relationship from you, and yet she keeps running back to an ex or a type of guy never seeing what she has in front of her. You're fed up with it and say fuck this heartless bitch, she's just another pretty face, nothing more. A guy that doesn't treat me like shit? Better friend zone him. |
She Wants Revenge – Written In Blood Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It goes like this, He's emotionally broken and feels like he needs love, shown in most of SWR's songs, So after a one night stand with a woman he met he feels like he's in love, and wants her to feel the same. She just saw the night as a fling and wants to move on without a relationship, but now that he thinks he's in love with her he doesn't want her to go. She probably thought something may have been possible but since he tried moving so fast with the "relationship" it pushed her away. "On the way to the wedding dressed in black, he said sorry lover but you can't look back, she said oh no, she said oh no, slow down baby or your gonna explode/slow down baby keep your eyes on the road." This is expressing how he was moving so fast, like he was driving a car to their wedding at 100 mph and it scared her so she ran. Love is a drug and when someone has attachment issues when their young they tend to treat it as an addiction, constantly trying to get their fix with a relationship and when this happens, love is never found, it's made, and that kind of love never lasts. I know this because one of my friends from High school was like this and it destroyed him, always with a new girl, claiming love that didn't exist. It was pretty sad to watch and I wish I could have helped him but there was something deeply rooted from his childhood that caused him to be that way, and it's something he needs to find and fix in himself. |
Rise Against – Audience Of One Lyrics | 13 years ago |
And as far as what this song is about, it's most likely about his youth and all the good times with all the good friends he had. |
Rise Against – Audience Of One Lyrics | 13 years ago |
it's suns dude. We ran like vampires from a thousand burning suns. |
The Prodigy – Firestarter Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Well because of the music video I am determined he's talking about the U.S. He's wearing a sweater with the U.S.A. flag on it and claiming that he is the firestarter and the instigator, like the U.S. is always the one who starts many of the wars of the world. |
Modest Mouse – Little Motel Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song is about a couple who are going through hard times with eachother so she goes to a motel to get some alone time and this is the letter/song that he wrote to her explaining that they get in a tiff over the smallest of things, blowing everything out of proportions and what she means to him. Also the end when he said "we fold and we had made a wish that we WOULD be missed If one another just did not exist" He meant that they made a silent wish that if one had never existed at all the other would still miss them as though it was a part of them that would never be filled. This song really hits me deep because I've been here before and wished the same thing.. |

Modest Mouse – Parting of the Sensory Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Well, This song is about life and how it comes and goes. The first verse being about the walk through life through "stubborn beauty" (which is how describes the universe, as beauty that hasn't realized itself). The walk lasts from the sun rising to the sun setting (the beginning and end of a lifetime) and how you never really end up very much further than where you started. The first chorus mentions carbons anniversary(every living thing on earth is a carbon based life form.) this is about the circle of each individual life, from start to end as an anniversary of the life death phenomenon. The parting of the sensory is describing that death is merely the parting from conscious self and the senses that allow you to experience the world in their individual ways. No heaven or hell. Old old news to read(I always thought it was old old mystery, referring to the mystery of life and death contemplated since humans learned how to think critically.) would mean that it's just old news, it's been around for a long time and we're tired of it. My favorite part Who the Hell made you the boss? we placed our chips in all the right spots but still lost any shithead who would ever walk could take a ship and do a much finer job This fit like clothes made out of wasps Aw, Fuck it I guess I lost This is basically referring to life as a ship and God being the captain or boss. The writer is asking god who made him the boss? because it wasn't any public election, he was automatically in charge. He's saying that we did everything the way we were told but we still lost, still died. And that any shithead who would ever walk could do better than God at his job. This fit like clothes made out of wasps, something being made to be comfortable but is actually very painful and uncomfortable, life in otherwords. And in the end, giving up. Who the hell made you the boss? If you say what to do, I know what not to stop If you were the ship who would ever get on? The weather changed and for the worse It came down on us like it had been rehearsed Not like you hoped, but change will surely come And be awful for most, but really good for some I took a trip to the exact same spot We'd pulled the trigger, but we forgot to cock And every single shot Aw, fuck it, I guess we lost Again questioning god's existence and morals. The second part being that there's plenty of rules but they don't cover everything. No one would ever follow you if they knew what you were really like. Everything is going downhill(End of the world as we know it) It all happened so elegantly and smooth like it was planned. We hoped it would be better but it only came true for some( the rich?) and awful for most(The poor?) I lived my life and tried everything but wasn't quite prepared for it every single time. And again giving up. The rest of the song is about dying and someone or something taking his/her Carbon to continue life, Also about being alive and taking others carbon. And how it's all one big circle, an equilibrium. |

A Day to Remember – 1958 Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I never thought of it that way but now I think that makes the most sense. Especially at the beginning with the boondock saint quote, seeing how the boondock saints are killing in the name of god. ADTR seems to be pretty atheistic in the song Why Walk On Water When We've Got Boats as STD To Remember said. I think that's a pretty awesome thing if they are openly atheist. |
