Talking Heads – This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Oh my God I feel exactly the same way. I have been feeling the same thing about this song the last few days. I have been singing this song at the top of my lungs non stop. It really is amazing. |
The Mountain Goats – No Children Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song to me is so painfully bitter. Its about a couple who no longer love each other but they still try and hold on even after the fire has gone out. They have grown to even resent each other and the only joy they can derive is seeing the other person in as much misery as they are no matter what the cost. The song is so self destructive and bitter it is the perfect hate song. |
The Mountain Goats – The Mess Inside Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This is probably the saddest song I have ever heard. It is absolutely bursting with feeling and his vocals are so wonderfuly emotional. "It was painful to admit but we couldn't find a thing" This line just kills me it so sad and pensieve. Not only is John a great songwirter but his vocals really compliment his work and add so much. "we went to new york city in september. took the train out of manhattan to the grand army stop. found that bench we'd sat together on a thousand years ago when i felt such love for you i thought my heart was gonna pop. i wanted you to love me like you used to do." This verse is amazingly perfect and really captures the whole feel of the song in so many ways. John Darnielle is the best songwriter alive!!! |
The Hold Steady – Chillout Tent Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"She looked just like a baby bird, all new and wet and trying to light a Parliament He quoted her some poetry, he's Tennyson in denim and sheepskin He looked a lot like Izzy Stradlin They started kissing when the nurses took off their IVs It was kinda sexy, but it was kinda creepy Their mouths were fizzy with the cherry cola They had the privacy of bedsheets And all the other kids were mostly in comas" This is probably my favorite verse in a song ever. It is so clever and funny but in a very off beat sort of way. Craig Finn is absolutely brilliant and is such a great writer. I feel like he should write a book. |
Arcade Fire – Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Her vocals in this song remind me of Blondie a lot. This song in general too it has a very new wave powerpop feel to it. |
The Mountain Goats – Fall of the Star High School Running Back Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"Selling acid was a bad idea but selling it to a cop was a worse one" This is probably the greatest line in music history. |
The Replacements – Left Of The Dial Lyrics | 13 years ago |
That last line gets me every time his vocals are amazing. |
Kanye West – Gorgeous Lyrics | 13 years ago |
