^Nevermind, listening to this song more really proves to me it's about cigarrettes.

Protest the Hero – Hair-Trigger Lyrics 12 years ago
I can see at some lines why it could be interpreted as a song about cigarettes but to me it really sounds like it's about a girl. It's another crazy fast paced song by them

Coldplay – 42 Lyrics 12 years ago
I always thought this song was about midlife crisis at the age of "42". Think about it, all those verses about people who may not be really dead? "Time is so short and i'm sure, there must be something more"? It's about fearing what is beyond our life and growing old.

Yeah It's definitely about being little kids, although little kids seem kind of menacing after seeing the video for Helena Beat

Foster the People – Helena Beat Lyrics 12 years ago
Personally, I think this is mainly about getting through tough times and convincing yourself life is ok, even when you metaphorically "took a sip of something poison" or made some wrong choices.

However, while the video is eye-poppingly addictive, it has nothing to do with my description, or for that part anyone elses. So either the video is just a mini-movie dealing with a mass uprising of rebellious children...

OR

Both the song and the video tie into the theme of teenagers and how some of them have strong mood swings and want to make bad choices and/or kill themselves but realize life is ok.

Coldplay – Paradise Lyrics 12 years ago
I was a little disappointed by "Every teardrop is a waterfall" because it's phenominal by many other standards but weak for coldplay standards. Not paradise. Paradise hit and possibly exceeded they're super high standards. It has incredible melody/symphony and it has almost a dancy beat to it. Chris Martin's vocals are always great.

Lyrically, I think it's a third person perspective of someone who ran away from home dreaming of a future without her family but soon regetted it and lay underneath the "stormy skies" (probably a metaphor for her life).

Terror – You're Caught Lyrics 12 years ago
This is accompanied by a really disturbing but humorous music video and both represent the theme of high school kind being obnoxious and loud animals who drink, party, and throw food.

This is definitely a love/hate relationship. Someone who abandoned their lover and then had the same done to them. This is a very pretty final song

It's funny you say that because it sounds more like it was written about World War I when it says "The war to end all wars". Guess we have to take his word though right?

Amorphis – I of Crimson Blood Lyrics 12 years ago
It sounds like something from the Kalevala, which is the national epic of finland. It must be a battle of some sort.

OH MY GOD! This song is heaven-sent, it's such an epic. The main riff (do-dee-do-dee-do-dee-do-do-do) is played in a gorgeous piano intro and then collided with guitars and vocals. It's sculpted into a chorus and a few verses. A very...VERY...EPIC...battle song

submissions
Between the Buried and Me – Obfuscation Lyrics 12 years ago
Mirrors and Obfuscation form a suite, even though one is a soothing 3 minute singing ballad, the other is a 9 minute epic uproar. Both have the same chorus and theme of "Opening your eyes to reality".

Contrary to it's predecessor, this is an incredible solo packed epic with a great start and finish.

submissions
Between the Buried and Me – Mirrors Lyrics 12 years ago
This definetly forms a suite with Obfuscation, but it contrasts almost entirely comsidering it is a soft 3 minutes of only singing while Obfuscation is a louder 9 minute epic consisting only screams. it's rather obvious too because the chorus of Obfuscation is also "close one eye, step to the side" and the last line is "Mirrors and Obfuscation". Therefore this is the first part to the idea of "opening your eyes" and how everyone besides him is blind to the truth.

I love this song, it's a perfect intro to the album, especially the middle jazz section.

Breaking Benjamin – The Diary of Jane Lyrics 12 years ago
A month or two ago I have a friend who said they like BB and showed me "Breath". I barely remembered it, but a couple days ago this song was used in a video and I liked it. Sure enough it's this band, and I was impressed. The vocalist is very powerful, he started out sounding like a boy-band vocalist but he has that ability to shift into a thrash metal force. The music is incredible as well.

As for the meaning, it's about a guy who's obsessed with a girl (apparently named Jane) and is obsessed with making sure he does something that will make her remember her, whether it's out of love or anger. A little bit more of an original topic, not so "You just broke up with me now i'm gonna cry" type of song.

Periphery – Jetpacks Was Yes! (New Version) Lyrics 12 years ago
^I like that interpretation.

If you're wondering however, they said that this song is actually about an immortal man who outlives all of humanity, and eventually the earth.

I listen to this song when I'm in an epic mood, and watch the video when I'm in an even better mood. This is probably one of my top songs of all time.

Periphery – Passenger Lyrics 12 years ago
HOLY SHIT! Spencer's vocals skyrocket in this song, such golden singing parts!

I interpret this song to be about how the rich and the poor shouldn't be seperated because once we're dead it doesn't matter.

Dream Theater – On the Backs of Angels Lyrics 12 years ago
Oh wow! Dream Theater is on a rise again! The intro is such a good prelude to what will not only be this song, but the album as a whole. James Labrie clearly added a little effect to make his voice sound cooler but he succeeded! I feel like the solo wasn't completly unnecessary as some can be and the music was just great. This one song hasn't exactly topped BC&SL but it could come close. It's another 8 minute single like A Rite of Passage. The one specific thing they have outdone themselves on is the incredible cover! Best yet.

There's my yadayada, now here's my meaning input. It's critical of America and their ruthless attempts to eliminate illegal immigrants.

Symphony X – When All Is Lost Lyrics 13 years ago
I too, LOVE this song, it's definetly Symphony X's ballad of the album. I think it's about time passing so quickly and then when your life is over you wonder what people will remember you by.

submissions
Symphony X – Iconoclast Lyrics 13 years ago
Iconoclasm is the deliberate destruction of religious artifacts. However the race of machines are described as Iconoclasts towards all of humanity and it's beliefs. The song is most likely from the perspective of the machines as they begin to rise against humans. Or it could be from both perspectives.

Now the important stuff: THIS SONG IS EPIC! It begins with kind of a new "Oculus Ex Inferni" but it's such an epic battle song. That chorus slowly becomes very addictive. Great title track and way to start the album

submissions
Dream Theater – A Nightmare to Remember Lyrics 13 years ago
This might be one of, if not my favorite DT song. The beginning is just so heavy. All of a sudden there's a huge change, into a part that sounds a LOT like the second part of Octavarium. But holy crap that's my favorite part by far, "In peaceful sedation I lay half awake" is said so powerfully, I remember hearing that one line in the album teaser and getting excited. And then back into heavy as hell, even touches death metal very very slightly. Oh yeah, epic finish, predictable.

This is the perfect opener and the count of tuscany is the perfect closer

submissions
Dream Theater – The Count of Tuscany Lyrics 13 years ago
The count of tuscany sounds like a real perv...

Anyway it's such a clever light hearted story that was made into such an epic 19 minute song with some dark parts and wow, that ending is so soothing and warm hearted. I also agree with hihey there is plenty of Edgar Allen Poe in it. The cask of amontillato was the Mardi Gras story right?

submissions
TesseracT – Concealing Fate (Full) Lyrics 13 years ago
After careful thought and putting the lyrics all together I've derived one uniting concept. A man is dying from a long drug addiction and how someone (a loved one) stood by him and tried to help him. This "book" might be the "12 steps" taken to recover from alcohol addiction. This is so open to interpretation and I just love it

submissions
Kamelot – Up Through the Ashes Lyrics 13 years ago
WOW, visualizing this whole scenario is epic as hell while listening to the song. Probably one of their most epic songs, extremely symphonic and tense.

submissions
TesseracT – Concealing Fate, Part 1: Acceptance Lyrics 13 years ago
WOW. This is probably the most well crafted portion of the 28 minute epic, not to discredit the rest in any way. TesseracT is one of the very few bands that doesn't just call themselves "ambient djent", they actually use atmospheric elements, as shown in the first minutes. And HOLY SHIT 2:08-3:25, that's the best part, those djent riffs are killer, and the vocals have so much effort!

Vulterer is definetly right, especially because Lament is another one of my favorites off One, and the lyrics have that same meaning. Amazing and epic

submissions
TransAtlantic – In Held ('Twas) In I Lyrics 13 years ago
Great cover!!!!!!!!! It's about learning to live life, that's the basics of the message.

Transatlantic's version has one major change, but it mostly stays true to the original. The change is the reason for the "twas" being in parenthesis. They cut out "twas teatime at the circus." Instead, they altered Glimpses of Nirvana; The opening portion of the monologue was kept unchanged but unlike the original, which had an instrumental break and the second portion of the monologue, this contains an instrumental break but they added their own music and vocal rhythms to the second part, changing it from a monologue to a formal song. It's a clever idea, Transatlantic very successfully added their own spin to a classic without completly destroying it. Enjoy!

TesseracT – Lament Lyrics 13 years ago

Sounds like the theme of all Greek Drama that all things deal with unquestionable fate, and many people experience epic journeys. So technically it is a fantasy related song indeed. The riffs on this are GOLD, and the vocals are awesome. Definetly a keeper

Frost – Dear Dead Days Lyrics 13 years ago
Well, this one took a little while but I'll use my wildest interpretation first. To me it's about forcing second chances on your children. Most likely a father who made bad decisions in life so he's passing everything he can onto his son by force. Not by torturous force of course (even though to the strong borderline screaming pre-chorus implies it) but teaching him about love and mourning his own "dead days".

OR slightly more likely

About losing a girlfriend and regretting the mistakes. But frost is smarter than that IMO

Frost – Experiments in Mass Appeal Lyrics 13 years ago
Reminds me of rush! Personally I feel like they should have switched this around with Wonderland, which makes a better opening track (although the hidden track is a good closer)

Sounds like it's someone who loses all sense of emotion to the world of business and technology

Frost – Wonderland Lyrics 13 years ago
WHOA. This is both the prequel and sequel to Milliontown. Milliontown was about a man who was friends with a dead man and the dead man eventually pulled him under. In the beginning half the character (referred to as hero I think) is alive and the dead man says it's ok for him to live and him to be dead (which we find out to not be true in milliontown.) Then it goes silent for 4 to 5 minutes and goes into part two which is his perspective from the grave trying to get the world to remember him.

This makes me LOVE frost even more, they are so talented.

Frost – Milliontown Lyrics 13 years ago
You would never guess from listening to the music, how disturbing the lyrics are. In case you don't know it sounds like a dead man worshiping someone who's still alive and then eventually bringing him down to his grave. The beginning sounds like a snowy christmas eve or something, it's just so hauntingly pretty. The rest of course is amazing and wow; a 9 minute instrumental outro. 17 minutes of lyrical music:9 minutes instrumental. Pretty uneven ratio for a 26 minute song. Gotta listen to it from the eerie recording of "the prophecy" to the soothing piano outro that's a little hidden considering it's silent for about 15 seconds after the powerful guitar finish, but don't miss out on that part.

Beautiful, but sooo disturbing and haunting

Fall Out Boy – Dance, Dance Lyrics 13 years ago
This song has some amazing qualities to it. The music represents the lyrics as they go on, because you can hear the paranoia and obsession (especially the "i'm 2 quarters..." part). I feel like it's not about a post break up, but it feels like someone who's obsessing over someone he knows a little bit, but he doesn't know if she likes him back (or doesn't like him back) which is driving him to insanity.

Love it!

Asking Alexandria – Someone, Somewhere Lyrics 13 years ago
No it won't it's extremely obvious that these lyrics are about danny thanking his parents, there is hopefully no way that someone will have such a dumb opinion. I personally think the reason people make that comment on a lot of their songs, it's because many are really about breakups. British metalcore, it happens. Oh I'm sorry, apparently it's not british metalcore "you know it's just rock and roll". lol

Asking Alexandria – Morte et Dabo Lyrics 13 years ago
I personally agree. Being agnostic myself, I respect those who both do or do not believe in God. But this really goes for all bands that no modern metalcore/deathcore bands can claim their beliefs (which are 99% of the time atheist) without swear words or threats (ESPECIALLY SUICIDE SILENCE, which I personally do not give any respect to, because they are generally just very stupid) AA is very talented musicwise and possibly can be a bit more respected in personality too but they have always lacked talent in lyrics even since their debut.

Below, someone is probably going to comment "Fuck off, if you don't like their lyrics don't bitch about them." very original...

OSI – Blood Lyrics 13 years ago
It's about an addiction to something but it's metaphorically described as blood. This person beats the "blood" back, and tries to get over the addiction. But he can't cure it and can't get over it. He says that God will understand if he decides to go back to the addiction.

Protest the Hero – Sex Tapes Lyrics 13 years ago
Originally looking at the title, I felt like I was going to hate the song. Considering how all except 3 songs (including this) were written by Rody and had pretty annoying, massive amounts of cussing, the last thing I wanted to hear was arif do the same. But I actually loved it, it was catchy (the 1st chorus was hilarious and the second was awesome) and it also feels like it's critical and satirical of sex tapes.
By the way, huge detail I picked up, might be crucial:
Now all the editors are hard
And all the journalists are wet

Jokes aside, it's hinting the journalists are the women and the editors are the men.

It's an unusual song, just a decent way to end the album

Protest the Hero – C'est La Vie Lyrics 13 years ago
Something about "The trains were 15 minutes late" makes me 99.99% positive this is about the fascist leader of Italy during WWII: Benito Mussolini. His most famous action was making the trains run on time, and when he died he was hung by his legs, like a Pendulum. Just a thought.

Periphery – Buttersnips Lyrics 13 years ago
Track by Track Part 2 interview, Track 7 Buttersnips:
Misha: Spencer any comments on that one?
Spencer: umm yeah I think it's about zombies
Misha: yeah, that one's about the zombie apocalypse, pretty much. And like you read it and like you dont get it and now that we tell you that
Spencer: You'll totally get it.

Sounds accurate to me! This song is a little more boring than some of the others, but still pretty good.
