The Acacia Strain – Beast Lyrics 13 years ago
this intro was damn near perfect for the album...and the album as a whole was sick.

All That Remains – Indictment Lyrics 14 years ago
i took this song as a literal indictment of those who committ acts of violence and evil in the name of their religion, whether that be God or Allah or Buddha or whatever...it also could be taken as anti-Old Testament God lyrics. hard to say.

"your god is violence...your god is unholy.'

this song kicks ass...first ATR guitar solo i learned how to play, it's one of the best on the whole album.

oh dang, i didn't even catch the 'wonderfully' reference haha...that's why i like his music so much, i could listen to it 100 times and then catch something the 101st time i didn't before. crazy lyrics, most likely the best of any MC alive.

haha, this song cracks me up whenever I listen to it.

"This is domestic abuse like you've never seen,
this is a Lifetime movie on a global scale,
just tell them you fell down the stairs."

The human furnace complements vincent's vocals really well...I bet this song is awesome live.

Lupe Fiasco – Failure Lyrics 14 years ago
everytime i listen to this song, it's like i never heard it before...the metaphors are excellent, and there's so many times where he stacks more than one or two meanings onto one line

the ending bars are probably one of my favorites:

"Well, my skill's clear
You Sea World
It's Braille here
I'm Bumpy Johnson I stick to the streets
Keep my dogs out in front of me
You see what I'm saying
And I push ki's wonderfully"

just because of how it weaves together in such a complex way; he plays off of the word 'clear' AND uses 'you, see world' to refer back to his whale reference (Sea World), then goes on to play off of the vision theme and THEN ties in a double meaning for being blind by referring to things blind people do AND Bumpy Johnson ('stick to the streets, keep my dogs out in front of me, you see what i'm saying). and that last line makes me think he was implicitly making a double meaning to Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder 'ki's (keys)', anybody else agree with me on that?

Lupe is on a WHOLE other level than 95 percent of hip-hop and rap. Period.

i agree, i think that's what he said too.

Lupe Fiasco – Streets On Fire Lyrics 14 years ago
i interpreted the 'virus' he talks about kinda the same way shnugen17 and soccerman90 did - that everyone is blaming eachother for their lost dreams and goals...some of the lines like 'the poor say the rich have the cure; the rich say the poor are the source', 'the scientist says it only affects the mind', or even 'everybody's got it and want you to have it next'....The Streets (the character) is the source, and that's who the song is focused on.

excellent song.

The Acacia Strain – Angry Mob Justice Lyrics 14 years ago
this has gotta be one of my favorite songs off of the album...the lyrics are well written and explicitly descriptive.

and the music does a good job of reflecting the different stages of the apocalypse...like how as Vincent says 'then the blast wave hit' is when the guitars pick up in speed and heaviness, or how after he says 'winter began around the world' the guitars pick up again because another tragedy is about to happen.

kick ass song...the video is nice too.

Emmure – R2DEEPTHROAT Lyrics 14 years ago
you can't judge The Acacia Strain by "Continent"...it's not even close to their best work. listen to "3750" or "The Dead Walk" if you want to formulate a real opinion on them. and both bands have talent, their low tuning has nothing to do with their skill or lyrics. TAS is just as talented as any BBM, ABR, or any other band...they're just heavier.

and as far as TAS vs. Emmure..I think TAS is better but Emmure is a decent band. I just think it's funny how much people bitch and cry over who's better when the bands aren't even comparable, aside from the fact that "A Ticket for the Paralyzer" rips the riff from "Carbomb."

i've been told there was more than one cameo appearance in this song...i know the vocalist for Suicide Silence is one of them, but when do the others come in?

Five Finger Death Punch – Salvation Lyrics 14 years ago
this song is anti-religion...NOT anti-God. it bashes how people seem to think religion has all of the answers to life, and it really doesn't. i'm christian, but i recognize that my faith is a FAITH, not an absolute truth. everyone wants a way to explain what they cannot, and this song is just denoting super-religious people that think what they believe in is the right thing...but everyone has their own beliefs and none should be shoved down the public's throat.

good song.

Lupe Fiasco – Gold Watch Lyrics 14 years ago
this is one of my favorite songs off of the album...his use of cultural condtractions, comparing ghetto fabulous to high class society, and even how he names off his obscure brands of materials..all of it ties together nicely. love it.

i hear 'lobbies of W's', but I think 'bellevues' makes a bit more sense... 'bellevue' is a french term for 'beautiful view', and upscale hotel lobbies tend to have these in the higher levels of the building. and looking out of a window from a high place makes it easy to imagine that one is flying. ('make me feel flyer than lobbies of bellevues')

but anyway, great song.

vincent can say what he wants about this song live, but it's clearly about Emmure. "plaigarism is the highest form of flattery", "the evil twin", "vanflip times a thousand", "no care ever"? he's obviously talking about a band.

I don't really think Emmure ripped off of the Acacia Strain as much as everyone says they did...but they did take the riff from "Carbomb" and use it on a song a couple years after TAS released 3750. but the two bands don't really compare other than that. way different sounds.

The Acacia Strain – Burnface Lyrics 14 years ago
he's talking about a girl that died of AIDS....I say AIDS specifically because he says "a virus made for the outcast", and AIDS was first contracted by a gay person back when being gay wasn't socially acceptable and there weren't hardly any gay rights activists. plus he says "the combining blood triggered the beginning of the end".

"and you will get what you deserve." love that line.

The Acacia Strain – Dr Doom Lyrics 14 years ago
to me, this song sounds like something vincent wrote about touring and how sick of it he was at the time. it sounds like it's directed towards the people who listen to his music ("i hope your ears bleed") and his record label ("take this job and shove it"), and his imagined scenario of the band dying in a car crash ("four funerals, no fucking wedding!"). i think the dr. doom idea came after the fact that vincent realized it could be a double entendre, so he titled the song after dr. doom.
