Rainbow – Stargazer Lyrics

i think the setting is the building of the tower of babel ( Biblical story) and the wizard is the religious leader or king
but i'd agree that more than that it is about the longing of the enslaved builders to go home to their families. sad song... one that makes you pray that the slave really got back to his loved ones |

i see this as simply an adventure story. dio is a genius in painting imagery with his lyrics and singing style. he can tell a whole fantasy (dragon-genre) story in less than 5 mins |

Kamelot – The Inquisitor Lyrics

absolutely no remorse from this song... unlike the other stuffs from fourth legacy that tackles guilt or weariness, the "inquisitor" is very proud of what he is doing
i love to sing along with this one |

i love marguerite's lines here... she is begging ariel to love her, awwww
i kinda got lost at what really happened to ariel in the end, i guess he got back together with helena... but i was seriously rooting for marguerite. i can imagine ariel going back to this old little town, knocking on marguerite's door, hihi |

i love the way "forever" is used in this one.
forever is often used to convey everlasting love
"close my eyes forever" is simply death |

Kamelot – Across the Highlands Lyrics

wow. yeah, this has to be highlander
before a imagined a god flying across the mountains like an eagle, surveying and finding the land boring already. he wants to die and go into nirvana, hehe--- too literal but this imagery really pops into my mind when i listen to it. now i'm going to see thomas youngblood (he looks like the highlander actor because of his hair) with a sword. |

Kamelot – A Sailorman's Hymn Lyrics

i read a tragic play in high school with the same of same background, also set in ireland if i remember correctly, only it is a mother who is waiting for her last son to return (she had lost the other men of her family to drowning over the years). that play is so heart wrenching, and this song is a great compliment to it. could not recall the title of the play though. |

the feel of the song: somebody's frustrated (merlin probably) at how messy things are with the "chosen ones". if he can only find a more honorable family |

Kamelot – Silent Goddess Lyrics

amazing amazing lyrics
a soldier gearing up, pumping himself up for battle. he is concentrating all his hatred. just imagine being at war against people you dont really know or havent really met. you really have to make yourself hate them, or else you might take pity and may not be able to strike them. "My mind is blank", you really have to be in this state, to be able to move on to a frenzied rampage to be able to win wars.
in modern day i can imagine a varsity player psyching up for the game. of course he is praying.

Kamelot – Glory Lyrics
|
yeah, there is a hint that he is dying, but i guess it is more of a spiritual death.
i see it as a soldier who is rather victorious in the war, but defeated in his principles.
he tried hard to reconcile war and faith, how he should kill to glorify his God, but at the end of the day, his guilt tells him that things should not be that way. glory is sarcastically used. "one for the glory and one for the souls that i've slain" begs the question whether being known and honored is worth the death of so many. half of him does enjoy the glory, but another half finds his deeds miserable. |

Kamelot – On the Coldest Winter Night Lyrics
| 14 years ago

the meaning (when read with the rest of the album) is clear and straightforward.
commenting on the emotions brought about the song: ariel is at bliss at this point of the album. there is no hint of confusion or dissatisfaction. it is peculiar that he did not realize that this is the moment that he doesn't want to end forever (his fear of his time with helena ending is hinted at the chorus)
the line "this is a moment made of dreams" encapsulates the perfection of the moment. something made of dreams would suggest something that is pure or sublime, not flawed by selfish desires... just a quest for true happiness----- doesnt make much sense, but that is how the song makes me feel |

Kamelot – Lunar Sanctum Lyrics

i can see a newly converted christian who goes back to his pagan ways whenever he gets scared. his newly found faith is not enough to secure him, as well as make him feel alive, so at night, he (and his tribe) goes back to worshipping the moon, and in doing so, they re experience the feeling of security and ecstasy brought about by such rituals |

Kamelot – Temples Of Gold Lyrics
|
two people falling out of love because of life's difficulties... one of them looks to their wonderful days together and would like to bring that back, however, everything is too late
i dont know why "Temples of Gold" is used as a reference for the lost love. nothing seem to be romantic about it, so i kind of imagine two people (lovers probably) who lost their love for each other while on a quest for the "temples of gold" which is sort of a promise land for them.
i would really want to hear what roy khan was thinking of when he wrote this, it just sounded so heartfelt |
