The Cure – How Beautiful You Are... Lyrics 1 year ago
@[superstinger:42586] Sorry, I take it back a little - two of the strangers were kids, not adult men, so it's a little harsh.
Still, the dad failing to say "hey kids, let's not stare, that's not polite. Sorry ma'am" makes him the bad guy of this scenario.

This song has always really bothered me.
It's about him hating a girl for having social anxiety.
The only people he can sympathize with are the men who think her beauty is for them to "stare fixedly" at!
If he'd stayed closer to his inspiration, had the strangers staring at a cafe instead of his girlfriend, and hating her response to *that*, this wouldn't be so disturbing and vile.

The Stooges – Dirt Lyrics 1 year ago
I have no insight or interpretation of this song to offer here, but I felt it necessary to say that this has been my Very Favorite Song in the world since I first heard it almost 30 years ago when I was 13. And I'm so glad to see a couple other people feel similarly.

Lisa Germano – Golden Cities Lyrics 7 years ago
This song was about when her cat, Miamo-Tutti, died.
To me, the timing of the song reminds me a lot of heavy crying - the pauses within/between the lines sound like the gasps for air between sobs.
