The Smiths – Suffer Little Children Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I believe so. Interestingly, it was a B-side for 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now' which has a women with a glancing resemblance of Myra Hindley. |
Wild Beasts – All The King's Men Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I think (cut and dry) it's about going out in England, specifically the North since the towns he describes are around that area but like most Wild Beasts song it's told in an archaic way. Usually, the main goal for a man when he goes out is to eventually go home with a girl. The narrator in this story is your average 20 something man who wants just that. |
Bloc Party – Your Visits Are Getting Shorter Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Although Kele is gay (or bisexual) I think this song is about a girl, I don't know what boys would do anything for another boy in a Maths class. |
Sufjan Stevens – Impossible Soul Lyrics | 13 years ago |
The whole song is amazing but, honestly, that last three minutes is the epitome of beauty, I don't even care about the sexuality or any of that bullshit, whether it's about a boy or a girl, it's just, amazing. |
Kanye West – Slow Jamz (feat. Twista & Jamie Foxx) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
You missed out the intro: [Jamie Foxx] Kanye, it's Foxx man, I'm just saying yo, I was talking to the girls you know, and we don't put enough emphasis on the ladies sometimes you know, I was talking to this girl she was talking about the music all fast in the club you know, she gotta drink water cos she thirsty, she just danced like ninety two hundred songs, back to back there ain't nobody really trying to find out what she feeling like, how she feeling you know what she told me? And you also missed out the bit where the woman asks Kanye to do it faster: "Now, now Kanye, I know I told you to slow it down baby, it's good, it's all good, it's beautiful, it's beautiful baby but now I need you to do it faster baby, can you please? Do it faster baby, do it faster!" "Damn baby! I can't do it that fast, but I know somebody who can, Twista!" Also the final part of the second to last chorus: Sly and the Family Stone, (Sly and the Family Stone) Lets get the party on, (Lets get the party on) Sly and the Family Stone, (Sly and the Family Stone) Lets get our party on, (Lets get our party on) Earth, Wind & Fire babe, (Earth, Wind & Fire babe) Lets take it higher sweety. (Lets take it higher sweety) |
Sufjan Stevens – Now That I'm Older Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think the choir on this sound similar to the Russian Orthodox Church choir in 'The Deer Hunter.' It's an absolutely beautiful song. |
Sufjan Stevens – Now That I'm Older Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I don't think there's any religious undertones in this album, I did read that some songs are about the guy who did the artwork (Prophet Royal Robertson) it could be about him. |
Sufjan Stevens – Futile Devices Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think it's about a girl, particularly because of the lines "I think of you as my brother, although that sounds dumb." I think Sufjan is very close to this girl and sees her as more than just a friend or a partner. I think some already said this but the words being 'futile devices' I think just means that he can't express his feelings through words. |
Vampire Weekend – California English pt.2 Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Also I think it's 'Are her parents actually Buddhists?' |
Vampire Weekend – California English pt.2 Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think the first line of the first verse is: This girl's wardrobe's wrapped in baggy sweaters. |
Sufjan Stevens – The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us! Lyrics | 15 years ago |
whether it's about christ and judas' relationship or just a gay relationship, i'm not really bothered, this song is a beautiful song, i love it. i was watching a video of sufjan live on youtube, and he told one of his stories before it, and this song is about him and his friend who went swimming, came out of the water and were chased by a wasp, so they ran to the tent and i forgot the rest. i'm sure someone else can back me up on this. |
Fleet Foxes – False Knight on the Road Lyrics | 15 years ago |
it's 'false knight on the road'. must of been a typo, anyway. i think this song is about people who are persecuted for their beliefs, maybe the knight is someone who disagrees with the child's view but the child still sticks to his faith |
Fleet Foxes – White Winter Hymnal Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i don't think songyone was saying it was a person, just saying that it is wrote about a brother, the second half of the song is anyway |
Blur – Beetlebum Lyrics | 15 years ago |
it's about heroin, stephen street also said this. i also heard in an interview that beetlebum was what damon called himself, maybe it's a pessimistic name damon used to feel sorry for himself and make up for his junkie habits. |
Blur – Caramel Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i always thought that the title 'caramel' was a reference to heroin... |
Sufjan Stevens – The Upper Peninsula Lyrics | 15 years ago |
calm down man, he's only writing from what he's read. and stop using the f word as much as you do, it makes you come across really aggressive |
Sufjan Stevens – Dear Mr. Supercomputer Lyrics | 15 years ago |
it's funny how much sufjan blasphemes e.g. oh my god. it makes me feel not as bad when i blaspheme, anyway this has no relevance to the song. |
Sufjan Stevens – The Seer's Tower Lyrics | 15 years ago |
hmmmmm i retract my statement on the babel tower, i've really been looking into the apostles and i was reading into st. john (st. james, son of zebedee's brother), anyway one link to another, and the writer of the book of revelations is called the john of patmos, but is also known as john the seer. it's clear now that the seer's tower is a reference to the book of revelations... |
Sufjan Stevens – The Seer's Tower Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i think it's about both the tower of babel and the apocalypse, Emmanuel (Jesus) dividing us at the end of time, judging us. but also the dividing could be God dividing the men and women after they built the tower of babel. i think though it's more of a reference to the end, especially the last two lines, from what i've learnt when we die we stay in our graves and then we wait till the end when God resurrects us and Jesus judges us. i love sufjan's imagery, the first verse especially |
José González – Cycling Trivialities Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i know this album (in our nature) and possibly this song is influenced by the god delusion, but for some reason it makes me more passionate about my faith, like a sufjan stevens song. like kevinmick said that it's saying that we're all following the wrong path, well for me it just makes me think that i should think about God more. it's crazy to think that this song has an opposite effect on me, it should make me think that God doesn't exist, but it really doesn't |
