Dire Straits – Romeo And Juliet Lyrics | 15 years ago |
gillerd--the lyrics are "a streetsuss serenade". The lyrics are reproduced in the jacket for their "Making Movies" album and the line is given as that. To quote a user on another site: "That said, "suss" is a slang word which in most contexts means "to figure out". For example: "He's got that problem sussed." So, "street-suss" could be a synonym for "street-smart". "Suss" can also be used to mean "suspicious", but that seems way out of context in this case." So basically he'd be singing a street-smart serenade. Whatever Knopfler intended it to mean, it's streetsuss and not 'streets a'. That said, this is an absolutely beautiful song. One of my favorites. |
