This song is slightly similar in sound to the Radiohead song of which you speak, but "Goodnight, Travel Well" is far superior. Radiohead is good, but I'm not a fan of their sound. The Killers produce great sound and they have a great sense of rhythmics, therefore placing them among the likes of Tool, Animal Collective, Sigur Ros, and EITS, to name a few. In terms of Lyrics, The Killers are among the best, right up there with Tool. I think "A Dustland Fairytale" is genius.

A Perfect Circle – Gravity Lyrics 15 years ago
I think that the song can have many meanings. The meaning, really, is whatever the observer makes of it. That's the subjective nature of art.

The song, therefore, could mean, as many are saying, the liberation associated with surrendering a drug addiction.

I think that the song could have other meanings. When I listen to it, I think it is told from the perspective of man in his post-lapsarian state (that is, the state of man after the Fall). The sinful condition we find ourselves in his heavy; it's weighing us down like gravity. We want to make amends. We want to be liberated and surrender not to sin, but to the hands of God. For "in God's will, our peace."

That being said, it would make sense that the song could be told from the perspective of Satan, the Fallen Angel. Remember, Satan used to be Lucifer (Light-Bearer), the greatest Angel in Heaven. His rebellion against God sent him plunging into the depths of Hell, the land of no hope. The song could be looked at as his plea- he wants to return to God and be the light-bearer once again: "Catch me heal me lift me back up to the sun." When we sin, we die, spiritually. The speaker of the song wants to be reborn. "I choose to live, I choose to live."
