Diane Cluck – parlor trick Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Today I long for nothing But the deep ambrosia kisses that spring only to existence In the instances your lips come into knowing mine Shine like a parlor trick On a Sunday afternoon I can not believe I have become bad for you I say, oh you beauty No, I Cannot bear you I half wish to tend to you I half wanna tear you no no no no no no no I don't mean I want to hurt you I just want to love you all the way, All the way, oh Oh you beauty I can't bear you I half wish to tend to you I half wanna tear you no no no no no no no I don't mean I want to hurt you I just want to love you, all the way All the way, oh, All the way, oh |
Sufjan Stevens – The Owl and the Tanager Lyrics | 13 years ago |
look up the fireworks/barn owl night killer video on youtube. really really moving. |
Sufjan Stevens – The Owl and the Tanager Lyrics | 13 years ago |
YES |
Sufjan Stevens – The Owl and the Tanager Lyrics | 13 years ago |
this version to me is incredibly powerful, but definitely loses the raw emotion of the original barn owl, night killer. also, name change? that's a part that definitely loses worth for me. |
Horse Feathers – This Is What Lyrics | 13 years ago |
no music is more moving |
Modest Mouse – Bukowski Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i think this song is about trying to find a way to explain things, but realizing that everyone who seems to have the answers or ways out is also flawed, and you cant turn to them or be them |
The Mountain Goats – No Children Lyrics | 14 years ago |
wow...i doubt thats their point...or them at all but whatever. |
The Mountain Goats – No Children Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i dont know anything about the background of this song, but i think its very ironic and supposed to be very over the top, almost a satire. almost an inside joke between a couple. just my thoughts |
Brand New – The Archers Bows Have Broken Lyrics | 14 years ago |
or maybe the speaker is a devil/sin type figure ex. tell your daughters to ignore me, sweep me under the rug because theyre really just normal human emotions and actions |

oh i agree with ghost[777] |
Brand New – The Archers Bows Have Broken Lyrics | 14 years ago |
this song definitely makes me think of religion in general. maybe some politics, but mostly religion. for example, one of my favorite lines: the god i believed in worked on a campaign trail i think this just means the role religion has in our lives has become advertising in politics and the chorus: you were freezing over hell you were bringing on the end you do so well you can only blame yourself could just be talking about fanatic religious people in general, always "bringing on the end" with hate and saying hell would freeze over (or maybe thats pointing to people that talk about religion casuaully), but really it just hurts society in the long run and its their fault just my interpretation |

Sufjan Stevens – Barn Owl, Night Killer Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Ani DiFranco – Adam and Eve Lyrics | 14 years ago |
oh my god. "just don't treat me like i am something that happened to you i am truly sorry about all this" her voice here.....oh my god. the stuttering, the way she shes literally sounds like shes crying the lyrics at the top of her lungs....i can feel it in my gut every time |
Matt Pond PA – Amazing Life Lyrics | 14 years ago |

mewithoutYou – Everything Was Beautiful, and Nothing Hurt Lyrics | 14 years ago |
this is my interpretation of the beginning: and you, only its only you, die for me only you, burn for me for me you, come for me and you, come for me only you die for me its only you burn for me if only you'd come for me |
Brand New – You Stole Lyrics | 14 years ago |
oh yeah, religion would work too |
Brand New – You Stole Lyrics | 14 years ago |
consumerism? materialism? how its embedded at such a young age, you cant get away from it? how it steals your life? how people are removed from purpose and meaning and hurry up only to wait? just my ideas |
Brand New – Bed Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i totally see fight club here, maybe oedipus too? haha i find the strangest references |
Brand New – Gasoline Lyrics | 14 years ago |
this reminds me of the salem witch trials. haha, i know its silly |
Sufjan Stevens – The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us! Lyrics | 14 years ago |
also you could draw meaning from the word choice wasp. as in W.A.S.P...just a thought. |
Sufjan Stevens – The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us! Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i think this song could be about someone being gay. the wasp is the perhaps the conservative christian setting. the wasp on his wall (constant reminder), not being able to sleep (thinking about it), kissing the boy and seeing the wasp on his arm (letting it happen, then being reminded of the intolerance), the boy running away (perhaps the narrator could not fully be himself and the boy god frustrated and ran away). im not saying this is the intention or that sufjans gay, but this is what comes to my mind when i listen. i like littlevisigoth's interpretation too |
Au Revoir Simone – Organized Scenery Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i think its remember awe but i love this song either way (: |
Au Revoir Simone – Tell Me Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Stars – Your Ex-Lover Is Dead Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this song is freaking beautiful. meaning is pretty obvious, but they sing in poetry. |
N.A.S.A. – Gifted Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this song is nasty, such a good group of artists |
Wilco – Deeper Down Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this song is beautiful. really poetic and abstract but meaningful. i love it. |
Modest Mouse – Trailer Trash Lyrics | 15 years ago |
the version of this by jesse lacey and kevin devine has really cool additional lyrics. something like "and you spend your whole life looking for the child that you were and you spend your while life looking for the adult that you are" i dont know, i like it |
Bright Eyes – I Won't Ever Be Happy Again Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i think connor oberst's lyrics are so complicated that its hard to really decipher them in terms of one subject or story. theyre everything to him, everything in his life that he feels and knows (or doesnt know) he is a beautiful writer, a beautiful person, and i would give anything to meet him or even just see him on stage sharing his beauty with the world. and he is so goddamned SEXY when he starts yelling (no, no, no) |
Trespassers William – What Could I Say Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this song is incredible, you can hear the pain in her voice and the words why am I not enough? I told you everything I knew I tore my pockets out and gave them all to you you hold my throat like a violin I never want to kiss again cause there's nobody like you cause there's nobody like you incredible, incredible, incredible. never words more true. |
Regina Spektor – Après Moi Lyrics | 15 years ago |
the music in this song, especially at the beginning, sounds just like a franz schubert song used in mark morris's bedtime. i danced to it, its absolutely beautiful. |
