I love this song so much! It's light and upbeat and catchy. I really don't understand the lyrics much, although I'm positive they do mean something. The whole song is great and is actually kind of funny. It's just another one of Paul's amazing masterpieces. |

I don't know how so many people can call this song stupid. My only guess is that you're not looking into the lyrics enough. At first the they seem nonsensical, but, like the others have said, it's about the younger generation not being understood. And even if you consider the lyrics stupid, they aren't the whole song. Granted, they never were his strong point, but his vocals are astounding and the music is great as well. And it showcases his personality, which is likely the reason it's considered a greatest hit. I love this song (very catchy) and I love Paul McCartney! |

I love this song. My boyfriend's name is Michael, so I always play it when he's at my house. I never until now considered it a song about homosexuality... a bit of a slap in the face... haha. I still love it, though. Very catchy. |

"While Lenin read a book on Marx" refers to Vladamir Lenin, the leader of Russia at the time, spreading communism in Russia based on the book on communism written by Karl Marx. I'm not sure why this is put in there, but I'm pretty sure it is what McLean was referring to. |
