I think the song IS about sexual abuse; starting when the kid is 5. I interpret the following verse: "16 and the woman down the street has invited him to come inside. It was the first time It didn't feel right. It'll be the last time he tries." he has been so scarred by the rapes that he doesn't feel like he can have a normal romance/sex life as he grows up because perhaps it reminds him of the rape too much. not necessarily that he needs to sleep with a guy, but that it brings up his feelings about the abuse. "Confused, but unlike you this feeling won't go away." I think that the father does leave, either dies or goes to prison or something, but the feeling stays with him. Also, at age 19, he decides to confront his feelings and feels it is necessary to rape the boy. Cry Blood 69 had it right on with the last part, he thinks it might rectify what happened. |
