Melvins – Night Goat Lyrics | 13 years ago |
RAGE!! what a rip off |
Porcupine Tree – The Sleep of No Dreaming Lyrics | 13 years ago |
these lyrics are horrifically incorrect |
System of a Down – Fuck The System Lyrics | 13 years ago |
this the most fucking stupid SOAD song ever. i love it! |
Puscifer – Indigo Children Lyrics | 13 years ago |
TREXOR is long gone so there is no real point in anybody posting about him anymore. he was a fuckwit and thats all there is to it. However, i sort of miss his incredibly idiotic comments; i actually found him to be quite entertaining. |
Fantômas – Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i would say that this and rosemary's baby are the best tracks. |
Tool – Third Eye Lyrics | 14 years ago |
hahaha! i take my hat off to you sir. |
Mr. Bungle – Quote Unquote Lyrics | 14 years ago |
this song really is john travolta. they wer going to name it travolta but were facing legal issues with it. hence "quote unquote" |
Sonic Youth – Anti-Orgasm Lyrics | 14 years ago |
is kim femminist? this woulnd't be the only song she sings which gives me that idea; another being swimsuit issue. interesting... |
Riverside – 02 Panic Room Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This is quite possibly my favourite riverside song, which is interesting because rapid eye movement would have to be their weakest album. This makes me think of dreams, for those that have a strong attachment to their dreams, sleep and dreams can serve as wonderful and effective "panic rooms" to escape from reality, forget their problems etc. |
Porcupine Tree – Every Home Is Wired Lyrics | 14 years ago |
from stars die: the delerium years booklet- "it expresses steven's early concerns about the impersonalizing effects of life in cyberspace. these days, he's a happy websurfer..." kinda reminds me of the concept of fear of a blank planet |
System of a Down – Science (feat. Arto Tunçboyacıyan) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Im not sure what i think of this song.I dont like how closed minded it is. I used to be straight atheist but now ive decided that there must be something more to the world than just bland scientific theories. I belive in both to an extent (support darwin's theory, etc) but regardless true spiritualtiy is a beautiful thing.Organized religion however is often notious for scamming and manipulating the masses. not always, but often. just my opinion feeel free to criticise |
Tool – Opiate Lyrics | 14 years ago |
this song is mildly amusing as maynard has thousands of typical fanatic worshippers hanging on his every word. Choices always were a problem for you What you need is someone strong to guide you Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow what you need is someone strong to guide you like me i know he is not talking about himself because tool were not very well known when this song was written, but it seems that many fans have taken this song quite literally these days. in that all these fans need someone strong like maynard to guide them. Dont get me wrong by the way, tool are one of my favourite bands and maynard IS extremely intelligent. |
Tool – Third Eye Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i think i may actually know what at least some of the lyrics mean! namely, the bit that seems make the least in the whole song. "So good to see you I've missed you so much So glad it's over I've missed you so much Came out to watch you play Why are you running away?" i intially had no idea what this meant but after a little bored internet surfing, I came accross a personal description of what dmt is like. When dmt is taken, it is sometimes hallucinated that many different entities (called machine elves for some reason) have come to greet you, saying things such as- "How wonderful that you're here! You come so rarely! We're so delighted to see you!" This obviously is very simillar to what maynard wrote in this part of third eye and these machine elves apparently go through you back and forth giving thousands of bits of information, present you objects that couldnt possibly xist in reality etc. This could fit in with- "Came out to watch you play" Finally when the trip starts to wear off these entities are seen to physically leave you untill they dissapear, which seem to fit with the last part of this verse- Why are you running away?" I do not know if any of this has been said before as i cannot be botrhered reading over 200 posts, but i am actually fairly certain that this is the real translation of that verse. |
Mogwai – Acid Food Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I have this this theory that mogwai give such titles to their music so that it steers you away from anything to do with words and more towards the actual music. giving such ridiculous song titles for much of their music is (in my opinion) no weak attempt at coming across as alternative of "indie". Rather they are making fun of words in general and displaying that they are not actually that significant. I dont neccessarily agree with them if that is their opinion, but i think at least this is what they are trying to do. |
Pink Floyd – Bike Lyrics | 14 years ago |
ok im not sure if this has already been said, but no matter how spontanious this song is supposed to be, i cant help but think of the discovery of lsd when i hear this song. when dr. hoffmann (i think thats his name) successfully sythesised the first liquid lsd, he got it on his hands and then went home. Apperently he rode home on his bike when he left the lab and started hallucinating. not sure if its a connection, but it makes me think of it regardless |
Queens of the Stone Age – Burn The Witch Lyrics | 14 years ago |
many ideas for this i see. This song could easily be metaphorical for a number of things josh never semmed like the cryptic type to me. this song is great live. it involves the audience so well. |
Porcupine Tree – The Incident Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Hey dementedPuppy, ever listen to the song vicarious by tool? similler idea. In an interview Steven stated that that this car accident of which the song and album are based affected him so much because he saw a sign next to the crassh stateing "car incident". He thought it was a very impersonal sign for such a tragic event and felt like the ghost that died in ther crash was trying to talk to him. So yeah "i want to be loved" could quite possibly be the ghost pointing out that nobody is really caring for him/her and that everybody only seems to cinsider their death to be nothing but a emotonally detached "incident". |
Simon and Garfunkel – The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
though it may be about a number of other things, i am fairly certain that they wrote this song while high. same goes wth punky's dilemma. |
Porcupine Tree – Drawing the Line Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I would have to agree that the chorus spoils this song a bit. which is a shame because i love the verses. |
Porcupine Tree – The Incident Lyrics | 14 years ago |
yeah i was wondering the exact same thing. almost sounds like "you get demolished". it is a great track but i am still yet to decide whether not this album is a progress or a slight fall back for PT. The album is certaintly growing on me though. |
Ashes Divide – Too Late Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Billy's sounds, lyrics and ideas in general have always been much less cryptic than that of maynard's. In my opinion, there isn't much too interpret here. Just seems like a simple, fairly straightforward love song or love dilemma. Maybe its about someone who is ashamed about the things he has done, (perhaps cheating on his spouse) and his significant other is ready to walk out on him. but he will never give up on her and is pleading for her patience and forgiviness while he works on changing his ways- "If I could separate me from myself, I'd stay away from me. If you decide I'm wrong, and you can wait that long, maybe it's not too late." and... "Don't pull away..." Very catchy song, the extra layer of guitar in the final chorus gets to me every time... |
Deftones – Passenger Lyrics | 15 years ago |
wow... the first time I heard this... I was walking home and I got Completely lost in the song and everything else around me just melted away... The atmosphere of this song sends a chill up your spine. A duet from my two favourite simgers, what more could you want? I think this song has simillar scenario to that of feiticeira which is about being taken captive and dominated, but finding it immensly exiting at the same time. And yes, Its a very sexual song. Does this song remind anyone else of Feiticeira? |
Sonic Youth – Teenage Riot Lyrics | 15 years ago |
thankyou!!! themountainman14 is completly spot on. WTF has sonic youth got to do with emo? absoloutly nothing. I mean hate the stereotype that is emo as much as every other guy on this page, but if thats the way they want to be so be it. I belive the title of this thread is "teenage riot" NOT "lets verbally bash the ironically conformist emo kids" I went on this thread because I curious as to what other people make of this song. err but not really sure what this is song is about. to me, its just about being a young stupid kid and enjoying life at the same time. |
Mogwai – Folk Death 95 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
man, mogwai's section of song meanings.net is like a ghost town. which sucks because they are such an original and interesting group. what is the worlds problem with music lacking lyrics? they deserve so much more gfame and popularity then they currently have. but yeah... mogwai and folk death 95- nothing short of utter brilliance. |
A Perfect Circle – Blue Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I really have no idea what this song is about. a friend of mine told me that maynard has had a phobia of water since he was a child. though its only a rumour, there are some vague references in the song that can back this up- "best to keep things in the shallow end Cause I never quite learned how to swim" I don't really beleive this but it is at the very least, an interesting rumour. that aside, it is most probably about drugs and addiction in some way due to the fact that it is on Thirteenth Step and that whole album is about drugs, addiction, etc. |
Tool – The Patient Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Just about all the lyrics that maynard has written over the years are about particular experiences in HIS life, so we will never know what the patient is exactly about. but consider all these different personal interpretations that everyone has posted about the song. It means something different to all of us; a challenge or problem that we've either overcome or are still battling at this current time. Me personally? its hallucinogenic flashbacks.(which are a major pain in the ass by the way) I've had them for a while and if didn't know that they would pass with time, I would have given up by now. example- "is this a Test? It has to be, otherwise I can't go on Draining patience, drain vitality, this paranoid, paralyzed vampire act's a little Old" but becuase I beleive it is a "test" of sorts and I belive there is light at the end of my problem, i keep going- "But I'm still right here, givin' blood, keepin' faith and I'm still right here But I'm still right here, givin' blood, keepin' faith and I'm still right here" but thats just my personal connection with this song. you will all come accross something in life that relates to the emotion of these lyrics, and when you do I suggest that you listen to this song and "be patient" :) you'll feel alot better. |
