I think it is about if i choose to follow a faith will it cure me or lead me blindly through life, in no search for truth but only the truth i want to hear. Faith is like searching for control in life that we cannot obtain, we cannot heal ourselves for we lack the control to do so, so we searched for a greater power... now on to my deciphering hmmmhmmhmh Accidents: could be referring to the randomness of life and how different events occur, that create true accidents... such as life itself... "You're next sir" becomes a cruel taunt to you: Would be in line waiting to find out if your accepted into heaven or to fall to hell as shown in many cartoons. "recycled air, the smell of sleep and disinfectant": To be honest this goes more towards the hospital idea of the song meaning... or perhaps it means he can smell but not feel total rest yet because he is yet to reach heaven and is still in line waiting. "Your god is a two door elavator": Christians believe god decides heaven or hell or us, one door opens transcending us to heaven, one opens and you fall to hell. Elavators go up and down. :) "Do they even cure you": Does faith in god make you feel safe and protected, immortal. (CUT ME OPEN DRUG ME): "Or is it just to humour us before we die": Perhaps faith was a joke, to comfort us of letting go. "(REPAIR ALL MY DEFECTS)": Some say gods love makes a person perfect, perhaps he is yelling for him to repair his internal believes so he could have faith again. "If Only we could heal ourselves": If we could heal ourselves we would not need god, for we would be immortal. "We wouldn't need to be hooked up to these machines": Machines such as faith that cure us and act as a life line to some people for meaning in life, perhaps even music,drugs,sex for its plural and could point to different things. "Whoa whoa whoa...": Orgasm "Let's redefine what it means to heal": Seek and find truth, redefine the laws of our existance. The song appears to be a metaphor and not childish. I listen to alot of Mewithoutyou, Circa Survive and they use many different metaphors to discuss their faith or love interests. I suggest you check out their lyrics... they amaze me everytime. i take that back actually, i have no idea, ive listened many times but i feel its all linked very well. The "so long dear" might be relating to the second verse and how the other man couldnt talk to the phone which could be a metaphor for god, and how he was in open conversation. Then further in the song details what he talked about on the phone or to go in the 5th segment, where he asks where has jesus been. meh sorry about the bad grammer and writing.. It makes sense in my head alittle but its just an idea. peace love this song |

"in a world that never let you in" is talking to god "in a world you found grace" he made us bc he found our beauty the world is at self destruction (sky black to grey could be atmosphere changes, perhaps nuclear war) and the song is i will fall alone because god wont be there to stop us or save us. He is wonderying why he is still standing here, perhaps god does care? This is our home, his creation at its finest. i watched the water pull you in..(the water represents his motion, god himself, his presence) he can sense it in nature, or believes it is. perhaps "the meaning of this is becoming so clear" that it is all going to end in chaos and destruction.. its kinda a battle in his mind of faith i think as well.
