Carrie Underwood – Just A Dream Lyrics 15 years ago
Yeah, sixpence is correct- on a Bride's wedding day, her father, or whatever legal guardian is available, puts a sixpence in her left shoe for good financial luck and prosperity in the marriage. Unfortunately for me, my shoes on my wedding day were open-toed so my sixpence was taped to the bottom of my shoe. lol.

As for the song itself, I believe she was married, and the change in lyrics mostly just accounts for a change in scene or memory, as if she was recalling their wedding day and all of a sudden she was jerked back into reality at the funeral. Carrie Underwood has a beautiful voice, and this song is a great testament to that. But, it is also so believable, like she had actually lived it, that I only listen to it when I am so emotionally frazzled (with a deployed husband) I just need a good cry, because that is all this song does to me. Unfortunately, one time I was at a restaurant (in an area where the Army has a very, very strong presence), and for some reason they thought it would be ok to play this song... A lot of men and women still in uniform from that day's work, and wives with husbands deployed trying to have some normalcy with each other immediately started asking their servers to try to get the song switched. Beautiful as the song is, as well as Tim McGraw's "If You're Reading This," it just should not be played in some places.

Robert Plant And Alison Krauss – Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us Lyrics 15 years ago
Sister Rosetta Tharpe was a Gospel singer in the 1930s-40s who pretty much pioneered combining traditional spiritual lyrics and secular rock accompaniment. Some of the songs she is best known for are "Strange Things Happening Every Day," and "Up Above My Head." Thing is, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss made it low-tempo, even including a little Tarantella, but Sister Rosetta's music was very up-beat and tempo and very Rock-n-Roll, just with Gospel lyrics. I think that is the biggest reason I like the song- the difference between the real woman and how Alison is singing.
