This song is one of those special songs that can be interpreted many different ways according to what the listener is going through in his or her life. I love their new cd and this is, without a doubt, my favorite song from it. A lot of the posts before mine have made sense and I can definitely see where they got their ideas from but I have a different take on this song. I think it's about a guy and a girl who were in a relationship together, rather than being just friends, and things ended between them. Because they are both so scared of getting hurt again, they don't talk about getting back together or how they are still in love with one another. They fall in and out of love with each other as they try to patch up their relationship. The guy believes that they can make it and that they will be together again one day so he tells her to "Never say never." He tries to reassure her and tell her not to be afraid because he loves her and will always be there for her, especially when times are rough. He does all he can to convince her that they belong together but ultimately, it's up to her. His heart is in her hands so he tells her to not let him go. Don't break his heart and make him whole once again. I am going through something extremely similar to the situation I see when I listen to this song. My girlfriend and I were together for over four years and she was the love of my life. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her and I thought that she wanted all the same things I did. But somewhere along the road, she got scared and ended things between us. My heart has been broken for the past seven months and I want nothing more than to hold her in my arms again. I tell her that if she chose me, she wouldn't need to be afraid because, "I will be your guardian when all is crumbling. I'll steady your hand." |

| This song is right up there with "23" by Jimmy Eat World for my favorite song of all-time. To put it simply, this song is so incredibly beautiful. The lyrics are absolutely incredible and speak right to me. One of the best things about music is that it can be interpreted by each person differently. However, this song is clearly about someone wanting to escape from not only the life they live, but from the person they loved. Loneliness is such a natural human emotion and even though we may be surrounded by friends and family, we can often feel more alone than ever. I can particularly relate to this because my girlfriend of over four years broke up with me a few months ago and I felt more alone than I've felt in my entire life after it happened. I'm sure everyone, at some point in their lives, has had the feeling that they just need to escape and start over. Just like beautifulxgoodbye said before me, this song is an escape for me. As far as the meaning of this song goes, he doesn't like the way his life is turning out and needs to get away from it and reset everything. He's asking someone, a friend maybe, to tell him, "all the things that I, I'll be missing here in this old life man cause I just don't know." He sees no reason not to leave the life he is living because he doesn't know of anything that he will miss. This song is, by far, my favorite from Safetysuit. This band is amazing and I hope they start getting the love they deserve. Kind of a long comment here but I felt this amazing song deserved it. | |

wow i love how everyone on here is talking about everything BUT the meaning of this song. if you want to talk about what the lyrics are instead of what they mean, go somewhere else. to me, this song is about a guy who is remembering a past relationship he had, times they shared together, and obviously the dreams he is having about her. he obviously still wants her when he says, "And please don't tell me that I'm dreaming." he still can't bear the thought of being away from the girls he loves, which is definitely something i can relate to. when jason says, "Sunsets never were so bright/ And the skies never so blue." i think he's saying that things were so much better when he was with her and life itself seemed so much beautiful when she was in his life. an amazing song by mp and probably my favorite one by them. sorry for the long post but i felt i had to do some justice to this awesome song since hardly anyone else seemed to be discussing what this song means. |

this song hits right at home with me. i think it's obviously about a guy who is deeply hurt over a break but is trying his absolute best to get over it. my girlfriend of four years broke up with me three days ago because she said she just wasn't in love with me anymore. this song helps at times and is definitely one of my favorite by BLG. I won't let you bring me down It's here and now I'm breaking out I will learn to love again But I will stand a broken man i think this part means that the guy is going to get over her but he will never forget what happened between the two of them. the girl i just broke up with was my first true love and i will never fully recover from the break up. |
