Metallica – Broken, Beat & Scarred Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think this song is about learning from mistakes and surviving this hard live. It's about Metallica's history, James' own life and other people like a soldier who's: "Spilling his blood an a hot suns foray" |
Metallica – The Day That Never Comes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Most of your meanings of "the day that never comes" about the abusive relationship i agree with. I have a few additional notes: The day that never comes: is the day that the abused will leave the abuser. But very often this never happens for unclear reasons, but the abused would say it is because he/she "loves" the abuser... First 2 verses to describe the relationship, and the fighting: Born to push you around better just stay down you pull away he hits the flesh you hit the ground mouth so full of lies tender black, your eyes just keep them closed keep praying just keep (a)waiting mouth so full of lies - the lies of the abuser, like "i'll never do it again..." Then a verse about the hope that everything will be better: waiting for the one the day that never comes when you stand up and feel the warmth but the sunshine never comes, no no, the sunshine never comes Next verse is about the severe pressure the abused is under to NOT leave the abuser, it refers to the wishes of the abused to end the struggle, maybe by leaving: push you cross that line just stay down this time hide in yourself crawl in yourself you'll have your time then this: God I'll make them pay take it back one day I'll end this day I'll splatter color on this gray This part I explain by the dream of the abused to retaliate the abuser and actually leave him/her... (its only a dream at first) later on: Love is a 4 letter word: Love doesn't actually exist in this relationship, it's just a word used to stay together. (i like the duality with "fuck" and "shit', words often described as 4 letter words...) next: I suffer this no longer I put it into this I swear this I swear the sun will shine this I swear this I swear this I swear So in the end, finally, the abused will leave the abuser and the sun will shine! Metallica actually has an happy end... where are we going to in this world.... :-) Really great song by the way. I dont really like the video, and i also think that is doesn't have anything to do with the meaning of the lyrics. This is very often the case with video's. |
