Goldfrapp – Cologne Cerrone Houdini Lyrics | 11 years ago |
She's singing with a German accent, at least that's what I'm hearing. Sounds a bit like Marlene Dietrich to me. It would make sense because of the German city Cologne being mentioned in the lyrics and the title. What do you think? |
Duffy – Stop Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Cause ?it's not my type? No, it's "Cause it's about time" |
Duffy – Serious Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Sorry juicebox10101, I don't know about this. Just sound like a spoken word intro by Duffy to me, though... The words go like this: "I always wanted to see the colors of you destiny I always wanted to know a flower that would grow." |
Duffy – Warwick Avenue Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It's not "Promise me you won't stand by the light" but "Promise me you won't step out of line" in the first verse (says so in the booklet). Beautiful song, I love it! |
Jamie T – Do You Have the Time Lyrics | 13 years ago |
The right lyrics in the chorus seem to be "Do you have the time, are you VIGILANT". That's at least what I read in a Jamie T. forum and it sounds right to me... |
The Raveonettes – My Boyfriend's Back Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Oh, just came across another thing: This guy (Richard) Gottehrer also produced the Raveonettes album "Pretty in Black" (which features "My Boyfriend's Back") together with Sune Rose Wagner! |
The Raveonettes – My Boyfriend's Back Lyrics | 14 years ago |
By the way: "My Boyfriend's Back" was a hit song in 1963 for The Angels, an American girl group. It was written by the songwriting team of Feldman, Goldstein and Gottehrer. (taken from Wikipedia) |
The Long Blondes – Polly Lyrics | 14 years ago |
It should be "I kissed you in the shower I kissed you in the CAR" - is at least what I'm hearing. Great song, though! |
Bloc Party – Trojan Horse Lyrics | 14 years ago |
What does "loft conversion" mean? Could someone please explain to me? |
Björk – Human Behaviour Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Conacha, that's a really interesting thought! Sounds logical to me. Although I must have heard them a 1000 times already, I'm going to listen to all of the three songs in a row while keeping your "trilogy theory" in mind... :) |
Deichkind – Hovercraft Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"Dann kriegst du the butterfahrt of the devil" muss das heißen in der letzten Strophe... Ich mag Deichkind! :-) |
Scott Matthew – Abandoned Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I love this song! It's very very very beautiful. Scott Matthew is a great artist how truly puts his heart and soul into his music - you can hear that. |
Arctic Monkeys – Potion Approaching Lyrics | 14 years ago |
*lol* That's hilarious! "Mary's lamb is obviously COCAINE." Too funny... |
KoЯn – Hey Daddy Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Correct lyrics are: Let me see (let me see). How my life has been (taken). Taken. This demon (haunts me). Haunts me. They're waiting (help me). Help me. You fuck me up. I'm gagged and bound. You pick me up when I am down. I can not live without them. I do not live without them. Hey, daddy (Daddy). They are taking me (away). Biting. Facing him (my soul). My soul. They're eating. Please help me. You fuck me up. I'm gagged and bound. You pick me up when I am down. I can not live without them. I do not live without them. Hey Daddy, this thing inside of me. Wants to get out. All it does is scream and shout. I'm trying not to let them out. They tell me to hurt myself. They tell me to hurt myself. They tell me to hurt myself. But I'm not going to listen. You fuck me up. I'm gagged and bound. You pick me up when I am down. I can not live without them. I do not live without them. (x 2) Hey, Daddy (waiting). |
Blur – Down Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Sorry for double posting, couldn't edit my other post. Another correction is "Forgetting's a game I play" |
Blur – Down Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think it's "That makes me wonder WHY I am". Makes more sense to me anyway. |
Dizzee Rascal – Stand Up Tall Lyrics | 14 years ago |
It's definitely "don't give it HALF hearted, give it all" like ooube said in his/her replying post. Also it's "Dizzee Rascal, the FINEST, LOUDEST, dirtiest...", not the other way around. Song is ace! |

Jamie T – Northern Line Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The "wakey wakey" line is from "Alicia Quays", actually. Great tune, love it. Glad I got the version of the album with this and "Rawhide" as bonustracks on it, two great tracks imo. |
Voxtrot – Future Pt. 1 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The last words of the song are a reference to Bob Dylan's "Love Minus Zero/No Limit": "My love she speaks like silence, Without ideals or violence, She doesn't have to say she's faithful, Yet she's true, like ice, like fire." |
PJ Harvey – Catherine Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Her voice sounds quite different here, no? I can totally relate to the feeling of envying the smallest thing surrounding the "beloved" person (or rather the person you are addicted to) and at the same time wishing them all the worst... |
Portishead – Small Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I like best the bit at the end, where the guitar - to me - sounds like from a Quentin-Tarantino-Movie. It's quite surf-sound-like, isn't it? Certainly not the strongest song on this great album but still has it's merits. |
Portishead – Western Eyes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I "discovered" this song (the whole album acutally) on my trip back to my hometown from the awesome Portishead concert in Cologne last week. I drove through the night for hours just listenig to their second album, thinking about how great the gig was... I fell in love with this song and played it over and over, driving on the dark motorway on a sunday night with almost nobody but me on the street. It was beautiful, magical... Interesting, I also thought it was "I'm breaking at the seams" and liked the line even better that way. A beautiful and sad image, to break at the seams... "Breaking at the scenes" to me conjures up the image of watching a newscast and breaking down mentally because of all the terrible pictures from throughout the world. One of the greatest songs I know! Just love it. |
Portishead – Humming Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I had to think about UFOs or a sci-fi movie to! The threatening build-up of the sound at the beginning reminds me of a horror movie also. Imagine an old black and white Dracula or Frankenstein flick and this would be the soundtrack... No idea about the lyrics though. All I know is the "Is it all as it seems / So unresolved, so unredeemed..." part touches me the most. We can never really know about so-called "reality" and mostly nothing is as it seems at first glance. Many things remain unresolved in life and we remain unredeemed. "If I remain, how will I know" - sounds so sad and a bit hopeless to me, I can totally feel this. |
Portishead – Pedestal Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Gorgeous song really, one of my many favourites from Portishead. Beautifully sung, too, as always when Beth sings. I've also found the interview above on the internet but, to be honest, interpretations by users of this site make much more sense to me than what Beth says about it herself. The breakup of a relationship has something to do with death, of course, but I really can't find much of "imagine how we would live if we didn't know we were going to die" in the lyrics... Except for the line "no time, make or reason" maybe: If we didn't knew death, time wouldn't matter as much or maybe wouldn't matter at all. And we would do different things for different reasons without the constant threat of death probably... |
