Hem – We'll Meet Along the Way Lyrics | 8 years ago |
It is a conversation between them. The first verse is the friend to the one dying telling her not to fight death; to "go easy now," and that later on he will join her when he lays his body down. The second verse the deceased is telling the friend to continue on and live a full life but later he too will have his world fall apart and the two will meet again to continue their journey. |
Perfume Genius – 17 Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Take everything away This gnarled, weird face This ripe swollen shape I want blank I want frozen lake I want deep space Tuck the whole thing In the body of a violin String it up on a fence Cover it with semen I am done I am done with it Don't Sing me that song It Will only prolong This |
Father John Misty – Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Jesus Christ, girl What are people gonna think When I show up to one of several funerals I've attended for grandpa this week With you With me Here I think he's saying to this girl that she's insatiable and perhaps they they go somewhere else for a bit because someone is going to notice that they keep showing up to all these funerals, day after day. Jesus Christ, girl It hasn't been long so it seems Since I was picking out an island and a tomb for you At the Hollywood Cemetery You kiss On me He's saying to her, "we haven't been together that long because it was just the other day I was picking out that tomb we made out it in the first time." We should let this dead guy sleep We should let this dead guy sleep Jesus Christ, girl I laid up for hours in a daze Retracing the expanse of your American back With Adderall and weed in my veins You came I think Cause the marble made my cheeks look pink But I'm unsure of so many things Here he's remembering that first time when he just laid there afterwards, as high as he could be and he was obsessed with her back. Just lost in the details and exploring it's intricacies. He doesn't remember much about that first time though. I think the lines "Someone's got to help me dig" might be referring to how a relationship is not built by just one person, it takes two. He's asking her to help him dig or work on this relationship. |
Bon Iver – Beth/Rest Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I can't help but feel this song is about love between two men. It could I guess be between a man and a woman but I feel like the speaker is male and his friend/lover sounds like a male based mainly on the hiding of emotion from those around him. errant heat to the star It's been cold and now it is starting to warm up; he's talking about a person's soul. and the rain let in The ice has let up and rain is now starting to fall, melting the heart of a friend who is letting him through his icy exterior the hawser rolls, the vessel's whole and Christ, it's thin A hawser is a thick rope used for towing ships, in this song it would seem that the speaker is trying to pull a friend back in the right direction or out of deep depression. He's looking at the hull of the ship/his friend's psyche, and while whole, realizes just how thin and fragile it really is. well I'd know that you'd offer would reveal it, though it's soft and flat I think here he's saying that he knows his friend would tell him if he could but it's hard because of the emotions involved. Men tend to put up emotional barriers concerning love, especially in a homosexual relationship involving someone who previously didn't think it was possible for themselves to love another man. won't repeat it, cull and coffer's that He's telling his friend that he'd not going to tell anyone what is said but will take those words and put them away in his own heart for safe keeping. for the soffit, hang this homeward I think he's using soffit to as a metaphor for the soft, vulnerable underbelly, raw emotion. Something that is typically protected. The "hang this homeward" line I think is him telling his friend to focus on the speaker's concern and love to steady himself while dealing with others, homeward, towards family and friends. pry it open with your love sending lost and alone standing offers Here I think the speaker is begging his friend to accept his offers for help/love. He want's him to open his heart, "pry it open with your love," because he's been sincerely telling his friend to come to him at any time. it is steep / it is stone such recovery from the daily press, the deepest nest, in keeper's keep Here he's saying that he know's it's hard to keep private matters private in today's world with media everywhere getting into everyone's business, but it can be done. It is just hard to do. all the news at the door such a revelry well, it's hocked inside of everything you said to me He know's the truth about his friend's life that noone else knows, everyone else has a different impression altogether. it was found what we orphaned didn't mention it would serve us picked said your love is known I'm standing up on it Here he's saying flat out, "I love you." That love, abandoned by both, is the foundation for his life and he knows it. aren't we married?! I ain't living in the dark no more it's not a promise, I'm just gonna call it Here he's saying that he's just gonna call a duck, a duck. They are like a married couple whether they like it or not. heavy mitted love they've both handled thier love clumsily our love is a star sure some hazardry for the light before and after most indefinitely Their love shines brightly despite mistakes they've both made and just like in the past they may encounter problems but it will continue to burn. |

This song has been on repeat all day long. I think this song is between to friends or lovers. One is dying and the other is coming to grips with it. The phrase, "we'll meet along the way, I know" says to me that she is looking forward to seing them in the afterlife. The second verse I interpret as the deceased/spirit telling the survivor to keep living and that later it will be her time. They WILL meet again along the way. |
Pet Shop Boys – To Speak Is A Sin Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think this song describes going to a gay bar back in the day... You don't declare your intentions outright. You caught one anothers' eye and occasionally smiled. it was the ultimate flirtatious high that rarely ended in anything meaningful but the experience was hardly ever regrettable. |
The Hidden Cameras – Builds the Bone Lyrics | 15 years ago |
To me this song tells the story of a young, gay man having doubts and fears related to his desires. He's cruzing the parks and having annymous sex and knows that it's not what he needs, but he feels powerless to his desire. The singer's voice is haunting. One of favorite songs ever. |
The Hidden Cameras – We oh We Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song is an expression of pure love... He wants to be more than just a memory. He wants to be a part of the story in the movie of this guy's life, and not just a background character. It's simply beautiful how it puts it... |
The Watson Twins – Shoot the Lights Out Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I see this as being sung from a man's point of view. I get this from the last verse were he says that he's "trying to be a golden man." He's trying to live up to what everyone wants him to be, expects him to be. He's lived his life trying to make himself into whatever other's wanted, but if they would just look close they would see who he really is. He's decided that if they accept him for who he is that he'll stay but if they "bind him" he's going to leave because he doesn't want to live like that anymore. |
