I see many have different views on this song. I have a completely different version, though some have thought the same. It's about suicide, and why its the only way for some. "I close both locks below the window. I close both blinds and turn away." The person is shutting himself up, spending his last moments alone. "Sometimes solutions aren't so simple. Sometimes goodbye's the only way." He tried a lot, to find peace, to find the answers. But it just seems impossible, and there is no other way than goodbye. "And the sun will set for you, The sun will set for you. And the shadow of the day, Will embrace the world in grey, And the sun will set for you." Obviously, I see the setting of the sun as end of something. That your life is ending. And your death is the SHADOW OF THE DAY. And whatever was good and bad about you and the world around you, black or white, won't matter anymore, and that it would be just gray. "Pink cards and flowers on your window, Your friends all plead for you to stay. Sometimes beginnings aren't so simple. Sometimes goodbye's the only way." Others would say not to do it, that they DO care about you, that there's more to it. But you feel that its hard to cope with this pain that you started feeling that goodbye is the only way. I hope you get my view. This song so rocks! Really touching. |

This is the most beautiful LP song. Love the way it starts off with a rough tone and goes on to have a smooth melody !! Chester has an incredible voice. Love the way he sings "And the clouds about move closer, looking so dissatisfied." When you listen closely, the music is so rich, beats, piano and the guitar is so soothing.... yet makes you cry !! ON A VALENTINES DAY......... !!!! |
