MY interpretation (i took the lyrics off THIS site, so if they're not right, get over it, the meaning's the same): I was losing all my friends, was losing them to drinking and to driving. was losing all my friends, but i got 'em back. [[This I interpret as him saying he was the one drinking and driving, possibly on tour.]] i am on the mend, atleast now i can say that i am trying, and i hope you will forget, the things i still lack. [[This, he's obviously saying that he has problems, but he's fixing them. durka dur. and that the person he is talking to him won't mind these problems he can't get rid of]] yeah. yeah. [[ a release of emotion through screaming. it works wonders]] is it in you now? to better hear the truth that you have spoken. twisted up by knaves, to make a trap for fools. is it in you now? to watch the things you gave your life to, broken And then stoop and build them up With worn out tools? [[since these two stanzas are taken from a poem, they're harder to interpret, but they obviously meant something to him. I think the lines are saying that the words this person has spoken are very true, but they may not believe them because other people have twisted the words. the second stanza is asking if the person is emotionally capable to see the things that they gave all their life to being broken, and then fix it with worn out tools. I would say relationships, specifically are the "things you gave your life to, broken" and that you have to fix them and the "tools" are really just yourself and you're worn out because you already gave your life to these things. mending relationships IS a tiring project]] yeah! yeah! yeah yeah! yeah! nothing gets so bad, a whisper from your father couldnt fix it. he whispers like a bridge, in a rivers span. [[This is obviously talking about God, i don't know why no one sees it. He's saying that your life will never be so terrible that praying can't fix it. it's saying that God's whisper is the solution (bridge) to your problems (a river span) ]] take all that you have, and turn it into something you were missing, somebody threw that brick, and shattered all your plans. [[This line to me is the same as saying "Want what you have." This one's a bit too vague for me to interpret, the last two I just think mean the obvious, somebody did something to ruin your plans. Maybe they caught the flaw in your plans, maybe they actually did something to ruin them]] yeah! yeah! yeah yeah! ohhh.. yeah! trying to get the seeds into the cold ground, it takes some time to grow anything, before it's coming to an end, yeah. [[this I interpret as trying to regrow a friendship, but it's going to take a while, so he needs to now, before the friendship ends officially, or the oppurtunity is lost. I know exactly how this feels having just been in the same situation, if I hadn't acted soon (planted the seeds), i probably never would have talked to my friend again]] before you put my body in the cold ground, take some time and warm it with your hands, before its coming to an end, yeah. [[I think this is saying, before you leave this friendship for dead, try to revive it, before it's official that it ended.]] its coming to an end. its coming to an end. do you miss the blend of colors she left in your black and white field, do you feel condemmed, just being there? [[i think this means obviously, does the person miss the excitement/love/whatever that 'she' had put in his boring or maybe painful life. by saying "do you feel condemmed just being there?" i think he's asking the person if he feels like there's no hope for his life now because she's gone. maybe it's so miserable, he feels like he's already dead.]] i am not your friend! i am just a man who knows how it feels.. i am not your friend! im not your lover! im not your family! yeah! [[since he's screaming, i interpret this as anger. i dont know if i'm right, but it reminds me when i met this guy and he talked to me about crap, but i didn't really feel like his friend, i was just talking to him to help him, so maybe thats what this is, he's trying to help someone he barely knows, but they think hes their friend now, so he's telling him.]] yeah! yeah yeah! ohhh.... yeah! trying to get the seeds into the cold ground, it takes a while to grow anything, before it's coming to an end, yeah! |
