i wouldn't say it's a joke but i agree that it might be a mockery on acid drugs. i think he sings from the perspective of someone who because he took acid, thinks he's the chosen one. |

nobody did... that's why it might be true...
so until now we have 3 possible accurate interpretation: this one, the one about his son and fame/drugs, and the one about society |

yes the dark side might be about fame and stuff. i dig that. also about drugs but i think this is a better explanation. it goes with the stay out of my way line at the end |

i agree that the dark side and the devil might be a reference to drug use but that won't stop me from trying acid or shrooms or more pot |

the other apes have 48 chromosomes. We have only 46 because as we evolved 2 of them (3 and 4 - i think) joined toghether to become one. so maybe 46 + 2 implies that we might go back ape -> atavism. that wouldn't be surprising according to the way things are going. I want to believe in a higher conciusness but i just can't. this shit is way too fucked up. I think we could get better intuitive brains but who needs that spiritual shit anymore. haven't we had enough of that? it just doesn't work. and i don't even believe it as i'm writing this but it's reality. deal with it! |

Both this album and Lateralus are from the 2000's; and the greatest rock'n'roll band of the 90's was none other than Marilyn Manson whether you admid it or not. This TV shit, he said it way before maynard realised that he's only an animal, and there will never be a higher conciusness. |

Queens of the Stone Age – The Fun Machine Took A Shit And Died Lyrics

to me it feels like the establishment (the pig) is telling him, he can't win: got knives in your backs and you can't reach them, take aim at each other cause they don't care. they tell him he's too little, a small pond dreamer and he won't change anything and if he doesn't like the raft (the ride, the flow) he should get off. it's kinda sad if it this is the meaning. i don't know... |

Oh well, i just saw the video and at the end there's a spade near the 3 and a diamond near the 7. it might have a poker refference but i don't think it's really about that. the bible and LA theory make more sense. maybe even belledejour's say on it with numerology and stuff. |

Queens of the Stone Age – River In the Road Lyrics

mitzie and stefanox have some sort of grasp...
the fast approaching monster marching in a row are the mindless zombies that have been breed lately due to the brainwashing that's been going on lately. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ERA VULGARIS
this song is a message adressed to future generations or his children, or us the fans (the ones that get it at least a little bit). avert the children's eyes. DUH!!! tell your children the truth and don't let them fall in the same pattern.
he's fighting right now but nothing he can really do except warn us to get away from it and do it differently in the future. and avenge him i guess... why not?:D

Ok, I'm sorry to say this but people who say this is about poker are not very bright. Just because you like these QOTSA tunes doesn't mean Josh is as stupid as you. |

Queens of the Stone Age – Battery Acid Lyrics
| 14 years ago
|
the acid is a metaphore for getting high. you don't just get high on drugs. they get you high (up the ladder) with their tv and bilboards, commercials, movies and the list goes on. so since it's battery acid it means it's not something of substance but something superficial. it's fake and disgusting. |

Radiohead – Sit Down. Stand Up. (Snakes & Ladders.) Lyrics
| 14 years ago

Of Course Fingerspitz was right. But I couldn't just explain it plain and simple like he did. Just like a wheater forecast. I'd have to pick on all the retards who believe that just because Thom made fun of your ignorance on an interview it's actaully true that it has no meaning. I mean, I honestly can't understand, how can you be so stupid?!?!
No song from a band that makes good music could possibly be political!! That would mean you couldn't relate to it on a personal level. Well of course you couldn't since you're too busy getting brainwashed further. You wouldn't dream of double thinking bad about the saviour machine that gives you food and entertainment.
So why not stick to something else? Why do you come here? For Fuck's sake it's called songmeanings. What part of that don't you understand? It's bad enough that some of you fuck heads disagree with the good comments but to say that it doesn't mean anything? Now that's just moronic.
Everytime i analyse an album I have to go through 7-8-9 pages/song of idiotic writing, to find that only a quarter have a basic idea of what it's about and 2-3 intelligent comments of what it's trully about. Because even though it might have different layers, meanings or metaphors songs and albums from bands like radiohead are trully about SOMETHING. This album is political with reffrences from 1984 whether you like it or not. If you don't feel like reading just stay away! |
