Just some thoughts: A wolf is generally seen as a menacing creature but in this case it is represented with a certain level of tempting allure. Obviously the wolf represents a girl, but it is a very seductive one with entrancing green eyes. He is safe inside in which he probably could find a normal girl to shack up with (seems to be a common theme in mtb songs) but he is tempted by some certain, perhaps unexplainable characteristics of the wolf. Being trapped in the wolf's gaze, he grows lustful and will sacrifice his safety and warmth to be in the snow with the wolf. Obviously this wolf, (or girl) possesses a high level of attractiveness and/or some gifted charm that can be infectious with just a quick glance. It's what drives him to act irrationally and want to "feel his skin in the snow" (not something I would prefer) and also to fall in love so quickly. It's very evident that the girl has enormous pull on him if she can cause him to fall in love with her without ever exchanging words. Also, this song just sounds like it was made for the bedroom. Heavy bass, techno like beats; people other than me will no doubt be fornicating with this song in the background

Before I knew it was "This usury's so typical," I thought that the song was about a break up and how they both had broken hearts and exchanged pieces with each other. Kind of a cool (or creepy) image. But now that it has come to light that the verse is about the normal exchange of money for a "piece of him" it makes pretty good sense that it is about prostitution.
Anyway, it is definitely my favorite song on the album which, on the whole, I think is a little weaker than their previous. |

I think that this song is about some crazy girl that Chino is involved with. He wants to be able to trust her in instances such as when he's asleep. Lately, she's gotten a lot better and normal but he has to remind her that she is still capable of going back to her crazy alter ego which Chino says is caused by him. |

i believe this song is definitely about someone who has strayed from his walk with God. I think that his main sin is possibly a struggle with porn. how many sins do you have to "get off your chest" or can commit alone in your "bed of shame?" and also it still talks about how he is still making vows which can imply about pledging to remain pure. but, no one knows but he can fool the people in his church but he cannot fool God. |

Dirk Lance clearly fits the bill for being the target for this song. The lyrics actually help me learn about Dirk and how he is "always the first one to complain" and how he was just making a choice to not connect with his former friends. It sounded like Brandon and the rest of the band were trying to reach out and help him but he was wallowing in his self pity and just wanted to feel sorry for himself.
I also think it's cool how this song, being the best on the album, is directed toward Dirk because one of the reasons he left (from what I collected) was that he was unhappy with the way the band was headed musically after Morning View (his last album) and here they come and produce one of their best songs ever written and its directed at him. A little payback and irony, I guess. |

I think that this whole song is about Christian trying to keep his eyes on God and keep that connection. From the first verse, Hollywood and society tempts him to veer off the path, but he is determined to stay on it and in the verse, he catches God's eye and he freezes in the magnificence of that moment like caught in a photograph. In the second verse, so much havoc around him is tossing him like water shakes a boat at sea, but the best thing he can do is his daily devotion to keep his faith strong.

i think i agree with you heartrocketblast, that Christian's faith is so solidified that he can stay in the dark and be a light to the "people without names" or unbelivers, and show them the way. The first part of the song kind of reminds me how God works in mysterious ways and leads him to a place where he might not really want to be but it is where God is using him. The part where he says trade love for the city lights i think is how he is trading being in the company of fellow christians and how fun and loving that is and could easily live like that but instead God calls him to the slums of the city to minister His word |

this song is about cheap sex for jonathan, how everything around him fails him and how he needs a quick fix for his present state. he does it out of boredom or because he has an addiction "its something i just do" and he does it even though there is a cost.
