Moulin Rouge – Complainte De La Butte Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Those who have some competence in French can really appreciate the beauty of this song. Personally, my favorite part is: Princesse de la rue Soit la bienvenue Dans mon coeur blessé which literally translates to: Princess of the streets Is the welcome In my broken heart I particularly like this line because of the phrase "princesse de la rue" En Francais, "femme de la rue" is a term for hooker, so this line is actually a pun and ironic. |

"Don't you dare go ask the newsman Cause he'll tell you everything He don't know" This can be read in two different ways: he'll tell you everything, but he doesn't know or he'll tell you everything that he doesn't know. Overall though, this song is about the media and how it skews things and doesn't give a non-biased opinion, like it should. |

drumgitarharmonica was right. it's definitely about columbine. "Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson" is referring to the company Smith and Wesson. "Have you wailed for the likes of the walls and hunger strikes Are you more than what you hate " They are not saying that there was hunger strikes at Columbine, but rather showing the shooters that their reasons for shooting weren't a good reason because there wasn't any "walls" imprisoning them or "hunger stikes" but rather just hate. |
