Coldplay – Violet Hill Lyrics 16 years ago
not sure of the entire meaning of the song, but:
"the banks became cathedrals"
cathedrals tend to be the largest places of worship and where the bishop or archbishop will centralize his authority. in much older times, cathedrals had a lot of power on society, being a central vocal point to tell everybody how to live their lives. it seems that modern banks seem to replacing this, our lives becoming more and more money based, and becoming dependable on the bank to sort out our mortgage, bills etc. now the banks hold the biggest sway in society, in government, in business etc. where the church use to be big.

and also, "if you love me, won't you let me know"

when i loved somebody, sometimes i wished they'd just say it back to me, and put my mind at rest!!

Coldplay – Viva la Vida Lyrics 16 years ago
i think he is actually talking about the french revolution

"the old king is dead"

and they thought they ruled the world, and they tried to impress it on other people. but when things like the terror came along, some realized it wasn't the expected social paradise, i.e. st. peter not calling his name.

Frank Sinatra – My Way Lyrics 16 years ago
i think this is a very arrogant song. "my way"? yes, i'm a man, i was tough and did everything how i think it should of been done. it's not a way you should really look back on life. what about other ways? there are other truer paths to enlightenment.

Nick Drake – Tow The Line Lyrics 17 years ago
Found this on "Made to love magic". It's the last song he ever recorded, found years later on a tape at Island Records. Correct me if I'm wrong.
When Nick sings that stanza "If you call we will follow/If you show us we can tow the line", it sounds chilling almost. Almost fitting considering the circumstances.
