i love this song... it really hurts, even to listen to it, the way he sings and words everything... to me it was always beautiful and romantic, even though the lyrics could be decifered differently. so the relationship is failing-- he remembers eventually almost dreading seeing her, and to me, he was talking about how insecure she was with herself, even in intimacy with him, she wouldn't let him see her naked in the light. he couldn't really understand that. and then i took the still born child quite literally-- obviously when something like that happens, the relationship is affected a lot, and she's given another reason beyond herself to be depressed, to drag them down further. it's the inevitable loss of a relationship that seemed endless in the beginning. so many are like that... and his emotion, imagery, lyrics completely capture those feelings in me. |

for me, the meaning of this song is just that the more he thinks about the relationship, the more he realizes that it's burning out. he used to have the feelings, but does he still now? he gets little moments when he looks at her and feels the love again, but the next moment he's thinking it's over. maybe someday is basically saying maybe someday i'll feel the same way, but for now i don't think i do anymore. this is what i ALWAYS go through. sometimes even before it's started...i just don't feel the same way. and want it to be over, even if it was what i'd wanted for so long. maybe i just like being discontent. |

WOW! i never thought it was about the bombing--i always thought that was just another metaphor! whether or not it's about that, that's a great explanation, and it definitely fits. ...but then where does 'walls of jericho' come in? the walls of jericho collapsed in a battle that ended up being basically a genocide, if the history recorded was true....but that's just in the bible and it was so long ago, archaeologists can't be sure. anyways, idk if that meant anything. ...i just wanted to see if there was some reason why it'd be called that. i thought the song could be kind of sarcastic towards god, rather than a kamakazi. either way, it sounds like it's about war/death/etc. i don't know...that's far-off. whatever way...awesome song. great song. |

i think this song is about love, too. i think you were pretty much right on the ball audiotrance! ..but i think him saying at the end that 'we're all a mess as though we have another' is basically that we're all struggling, whether or not it's with a lover, or unrequited love, or just a need for love. it affects all of us and hurts all of us, no matter what the situation is. i don't think your analysis is far-fetched at all, though. awesome song. |

and yeah, on the meaning..this does remind me of taking comfort in your faith, too....i mean, 'you won't go down alone' and 'it's only my second home'...etc. i'm glad that he says it's only your second home though...because you can't just depend on the fact that you're faithful in the church..but it sounds like he's saying his faith calms him down, 'eases his bones', and i guess having that faith gives him the realization that even though he's being filed and forgotten, at least when it's all over he won't go down alone. it seems like it's a lot about life, too, and it's like as if he's saying that his bones have all of the markings and scars from his life..and how he's got so much to say and so little time.. basically, life is too short. |

in a way,no, in many ways , this song reminds me of myself. she's struggling a lot...with her past, anxiety maybe, shyness, and just overall, the problem of being too afraid to face the music and step outside from under the shade and meet people, do things, become who she wants to really be. but she's so scared..and it hurts him to see her so weak and fragile just because she's afraid of failing or just trying at all... she pretends that she's fine and that everything's just dandy, but underneath this little show, he knows her and knows that she's really hurting and wishes she was living in that fantasy of a better life. |
