Panda Bear – Take Pills Lyrics
|
I'm on pills and my doctor says I'll probably need them forever. She says it's harmless stuff that your body makes for itself, but I guess harmless stuff that my body makes for itself doesn't give me bleedings, weight loss, sleeping disorders, a lessened libido, headaches, bad sight, transpiration... etc. It's the addition of EXTRA stuff in my body (more that it's built for) that gives me trouble, but also what helps me along. However, I definately don't want to think of this as a permanent solution. Whatever it does, it still alters you and makes you a different person from who you were. Things get better, while other things get worse. I think that this song is pretty accurate about what taking pills should be about- a temporary fix. |

Portugal. The Man – Shade Lyrics

Isn't it about slavery around the 1900's, when the factories rised and lots of slaves went to the North to work, and the factory owners hired them because they could pay them a lot less than the white workers, but they were still just disposable? |

MGMT – Time to Pretend Lyrics

to me this is about the libertines.
your typical fake rock band whose only real aspiration is to gain attention and to have the possibility to use drugs and lose themselves in a celebrity lifestyle because normal life wasn't good enough for them. and who make shitty music and/or release old albums previously available for free just to rip people off to go with it, talk about Paris as if they know what it is and fuck supermodels under the flag of being the 'working class heroes'. |

i've done a tiny bit of research (=google)
and found that this song is about edward droste's aunt, marla forbes, who was an aspiring musician. yellow house is the droste family estate where they recorded the album so they tried making it sound like a haunted house. if i remember well. |

The National – The Geese of Beverly Road Lyrics

isn't the blood in the cheeks like red roses about youthfulness, you know, how a red blush is associated with health and youth? and red roses stand for love and romance. Don't worry, I'm always this awesome at stating the obvious... |

Bright Eyes – Lua Lyrics

The funny thing is that I didn't know about Oberst's cocaine problem, because I haven't been into Bright Eyes for that long yet. But when I saw him on stage yesterday evening I instantly noticed he has a cocaine problem and couldn't understand why all these people were cheering and laughing like idiots at someone who expressed themselves so heartfelt about such a major issue. At some point Oberst held his hand to his nose and looked backstage. I instantly knew what was going on, though nobody else seemed to notice. Then I started paying attention to the songs and as I said could not understand the crowd's reaction. I also understood why he played mostly to himself and then to the crowd. I have an ex-addict father and easily saw through most of the metaphors. It's sad. Is it the reason they're wearing white on the tour by the way? |

I absolutely love this song. Proof that a song doesn't need four pages of lyrics to be absolutely captivating and beautiful, or to get a point accross.

Brett Dennen – Ain't No Reason Lyrics

there's some mistakes in the lyrics...
'speaking of saints'
'pushing back their debts'
'thinking 'bout death'
'slavery stitched'
I don't think there is need to argue a deeper meaning, as there is none- at least no huge, mind-bending metaphors.
Great song, can't get enough of it. |

The Decemberists – O Valencia! Lyrics

I don't get this fuss about boy/girl... It's a boy, in love with a girl, nobody likes them together and her brother tries to shoot him but she jumps in front of the bullet. And Valencia isn't a name, it's a street in L.A./a city in Spain. Duh. |
