Yeah the song is definetly about River. It's a nice piece. Alot of Niandra Lades was done during the recording of Blood Sugar Sex Magik from what I hear, and that there was only one song that was recorded after John quit the band, which was "Running Away into you" John said in an interview as well that Smile from the streets you hold was a compilation of stuff recorded years prior that was left out and that there wasn't enough space to put on Niandra Lades. Because I've heard several times that John hadn't played a guitar in like forever in 1998 when he rejoined the Chili Peppers, and that was from various sources, wikipedia.org, and Scar Tissue, so it must have been atleast 3 or 4 years that he had disbanded his guitars for drug money. I keep hearing that Enter a Uh and Nigger Song were recorded in 1997, but then again I hear that John hadn't played a guitar in like forever. maybe a year means like.. forever. Who knows. |

This song is just fucked up. Him screaming and moaning. It's just really deep, John was just moaning, just a complete mind-trip, and it just fucks with you. Normally somebody would just shut this song off, but I just listen to it, and try to understand what the fuck is goin on in his head during the period of time where he was struggling with drugs, but obviously, I still don't get it. So damn painful yet interesting to listen to. He's definetly having mixed feelings that are heightened to the extreme about lost relationships, and him just slowly killing himself. I really don't feel sorry for John, I mean not really, he took the drugs in the first place, he had a supportive family, he had friends, but he just decided to go on drugs, but thank god the genius is alive. |
